Danny Berry often claims he cares about the kids but the reality is he doesn't. If he did, he would act like any other serious little league and actually check birth certificates. Danny Berry's league is a league where your kid and his team can spend all season long working their butts off, waking up at 630 AM to take practice swings before school, and then lose the championship game because some academy decided to sit out several players in their 8U roster and bring in 9 and 10-year-olds to fill the spots in an 8U game. It is actually allowed, within the rules of Danny Berry's league, to play whatever players you want in a playoff/finals game (even if they aren't on the roster). And since Mr. Berry does not check birth certificates, Academies who want to cheat are essentially free to do so. If Danny Berry actually cared about the kids, he would show up to the league and at least watch some games here and there. We never saw him until the very last day, when he comes to hand out trophies or rings after the championship game. If Danny Berry actually cared about the kids, he would have a stable coaching staff for his academy. But he doesn't; his academy's staff is a revolving door and none of those kids are learning anything. You can see they're learning nothing by the fact that they play very badly and are consistently at the bottom of the league (I've attached screenshots to show this). If Danny Berry cared about the kids, he wouldn't have an academy that's happy to take a monthly check but provide no results. If you want to build a baseball academy and make a name for yourself by cheating and playing a roster over the age limit, then Danny Berry is probably a great man to have a business relationship with. If you want a good place for your kids to play or a good academy to join, absolutely stay away. Don't be fooled by the fake reviews left by his friends and family members. read more

My son started playing Miami Beach baseball when he was 7. It's a good starter program for little kids learning the basics. However, once they get past coach pitch and crave coaching for actual mechanics to become better ball players, sadly the only option is private lessons outside Danny Berrys program. This leaves a lot of kids behind and you can see a massive difference between the haves and have nots. My son has played for 6 seasons and for both the recreation and competitive travel teams. Overall, I have to say it's very poorly managed. Worse, when sharing any constructive feedback with Danny Berry his response is "then don't come back next season". Wow! Just wow. How sad for our kids. We can do so much better here in Miami Beach with the families, money and resources this city program supports. read more

Im a little disgusted by what i saw from danny berry and the lack of class he showed in front of our boys today. We were about to receive our rings and a parent screamed "play fair" in response to the obvious older players playing in a little kids league. Our glorious leader's response was get your kids and your rings and get out of here. It was classless at its finest. As long as you pay his fees he could care less what goes on in his league. He's not even around during the week if you have a protest for a game. It's pretty funny when every team in your division gathers for your playoff game rooting for you against another team because obviously they have older kids on the roster than allowed. No verifications are done as far as birth certificates and school identification like the other leagues. He says he looks in peoples eyes and knows the truth... what a bunch of crap. Guess it cost him more to actually verify ages on teenagers playing in his little kids league. Our parents actually watched a coach tell a kid on his team today that he couldn't play today because it was a championship game in front of his mom. What kind of lesson are you teaching these kids? As the leader of this league what are you allowing Danny? Numerous teams have protested and you've brushed them off. Being relatively new to the area, i was looking for a program for my son. This was unfortunately at the start of COVID June 2020, and the park was supposedly closed, There were kids on the field, with coaches so I approached them .These instructors said they were part of the program but payments could be made to them but I was uncomfortable doing that. i emailed Danny only for him to email his cell which he never answered. We participated in the spring 21 season and i was overwhelmed at how little knowledge the coaches had. When I asked my sons coach why there is so much standing around, he said that's the way he runs his practice....wth?? We played random teams from around the city as well as a few city teams, and although our coach wasn't good, he was enthusiastic. The scheduling however was horrific and the communication a joke. I asked other parents about this and they said unless you get a good coach, you're basically paying for daycare.. ouch. My ex wife asked me to have our son try out for the travel program, which seems to have new coaches already, but when I asked about the coaches fees $1,250.00 I was told hes an ex Yankee... ok. I looked him up and he played a few games in the minors for them.. I asked about his past coaching experience, how many teams he has coached, etc. and I got nothing tangible in response. We decided to try Miami Shores with a few other beach parents and all I can say is wow!!!! Organized. Enthusiastic. Dedicated. I see a huge improvement in my son in just a few short weeks. My son has been playing at Danny Berry Baseball for two years now and I can attest to the fact that not only has he learned to be a better player in terms of his basic skill set, he has also learned the "heart" of baseball; how to will with grace and lose with class, how to cheer on his teammates, and how to play hard on the field and be friends with the members of the other teams afterwards. I don't know of any other program that instills sportsmanship as well as Danny Berry does. Starting at age 3, boys and girls can sign up for Danny Berry. In the Spring there's Little League and in the Fall there's travel league. Over the summer, Danny Berry also runs a baseball camp (which includes other sports and swimming). Danny Berry also can provide private baseball lessons if you would prefer. Located just behind the Alper JCC campus, the fields are well appointed, with lights that come on in the evening, and Danny Berry has batting cages as well for practice. The coaches at Danny Berry are top-notch. They are quick to praise a child for getting something right, even if they don't master the skill ("great hustle!" "good swing!") but they don't sugar coat it when a child doesn't live up to his own potential ("where were you? Why weren't you backing your teammate up? Keep your eye on the ball!") I particularly appreciate the emphasis the coaches put on each child's effort. It is a maxim of baseball that you can't make every hit, catch every ball, or win every game, but you can try every time. When a child is trying his hardest, he will be singled out by the coach as an exceptional player. Or as one coach put it about my son, "he didn't catch any of the fly balls today, but he's going to keep trying, and pretty soon he's going to catch every single one of them because he never gives up practicing it." Several months later, my son does indeed catch every single fly ball - with a practiced ease that comes from endless drills. If your child is interested in baseball, I highly recommend giving Danny Berry a try. The program will inspire an ongoing interest and love of the sport as well as delivering a fantastic skill set that will be drawn upon for as long as your child plays sports. Of Note: Danny Berry also offers baseball parties. The children play for an hour and then eat for an hour. Also of Note: Danny Berry has a food truck on the premises. a coach was filming the opposing teams players up close as they bat (5-6 year olds) I asked Danny berry why, it makes my kids nervous ? It was my sons first season at Danny Berry coming from 3 years of playing at Howard Palmetto and the difference was felt instantly. The league is organized, teams are put together in a fair manner, and the coaches are dedicated and motivated. The best part was seeing Mr. Berry out on the field at every single game. He's very involved, caring and professional. Always making rounds to make sure everyone is safe but having fun. The parental atmosphere was enjoyable. It never once felt tense when playing an opposing team. It was fair, competitive fun. At the beginning of the season the league held an opening day with all of the teams and it was a wonderful event. The coach we had in particular was a great mentor and the kids trained, learned and grew as players as well grew together as a team.
