We have a dumbwaiter to help out with carrying groceries and laundry and garbage upstairs or downstairs. It sometimes stops between floors. Our usual company was busy so we tried Danny's Electric from Christiansburg. The first day 2 guys came and one didn't even know what it was. After a couple hours he said we needed a new switch which I ordered per his recommendation. I paid $210 plus $69 for overnight delivery The electric guys charged $261. Next day one of them came back and had another guy and they worked on the switch for several more hours and put on the new switch. They did something and the dumbwaiter went up. We all got excited and I went up to make sure and pushed the down button and it worked. They charged another $819 and left. Next day I tried to send something upstairs and when I pushed the button-nothing happened. It only works from the switch we have upstairs. The new one doesn't work at all. I texted the guy and he said he would get back to me but didn't. I texted again next day and he said he did research and was sure the motherboard had gone bad and I should contact someone who installs them. I texted the owner of the company and he never responded. I feel like we were robbed or at least way overcharged. I asked him for half of the money refunded which I don't think is asking too much. I would not recommend this company. read more

Called Danny yesterday because we were having some issues, after explaining the problems Danny made some suggestions with our power company, which he ended up being right which saved us some $$$. It's few and far between that you call someone for help, they listen and instead of trying to just take your money they help you!!! Danny knew what the problem was and didn't charge us a dime- he was patient and took the time to explain everything to me. We were able to get everything fixed, this is the second time we've called Danny's- the first time the guys came out made some repairs, they were quick, professional and was priced appropriately. This second time Danny was great to deal with, and even followed up to make sure everything was taken care of without a dime! Highly recommend Danny's- he will be out go to from here on out for all our electrical needs. read more

Fantastic experience with these guys! Used them about a month ago to install recessed lights in kitchen. They did a fabulous job so asked them back to install landscaping lights. We had an issue with our meter box taking on water from rain and leaking into the walls of our basement under our breaker box. We immediately contacted Danny on his cell phone and expressed our concern, asking if he could come out, inspect and give us an estimate. Instead of making an appointment to assess the problem, he gave us an estimate over the phone of nearly $4000 and said (and I quote), "So what do ya wanna do." Who does this? I can't ever recall a company (especially an electrical company) making an assumption over the phone without eyeball-knowledge of what the problem entails. We subsequently contacted another company (Electric Works here in Christiansburg) who promptly visited and thoroughly assessed the problem; we were quoted a price of roughly $600 for the entire job. This included replacing the meter box for free, which Danny said would run us $1300. It is now clear to us, this guy (Danny) is looking to rip people off. I would highly suggest avoiding Danny's Electrical Service at all costs (pun intended) and call around instead. Nice try Danny. We're not that gullible, and we can assure you our neighbors will be alerted to your nefarious tactics to inflate your bottom line. read more

I'm going to start this out by saying shame on me. They arrived at our house at 12:15, I checked the clock as soon as they walked through the door. I took them down to the basement to take a look at the electrical panel, apparently the previous owner had wired a couple things incorrectly, our home inspector missed it, and it was caught during the recent home inspection (we are selling the house). They immediately started opening the panel and getting to work. I had to stop and ask how much it was going to cost, he said some number around $250 for an hours worth of work and parts. Didn't think that was that big of a deal as it was the only really negative thing on our inspection. I went upstairs to stay out of their way and at 12:40, Danny came up with a low voltage regulator in his hand that had nothing to do with what I had called them to fix. He told me it absolutely needed to be replaced and that it was illegal to have it in the box. I asked how much that would cost and he said "It doesn't matter, it's illegal and has to be replaced... probably $50." My blood pressure started to rise when I realized I was being conned by this guy. They were done at 1:10, Danny was downstairs filling out the invoice and it had $468 as the figure at the bottom. He charged me $255 for an hour and a half of work and another $200 for parts. They left a bunch of cut up wires and debris under the panel and didn't clean up at all. Do not hire these people. Lessons learned for me: Get a quote before you ever let someone touch your house. Do not leave them unattended. read more

Way too expensive. $45 to come out. $150 to check outlets and service panel. $70 -$120 to change an outlet on top of the $150 he is already charging. He then tries to sell you very expensive extras like a $400 surge protector for the service panel. I will never call him again. read more
