I took a pair of sandals back that were only have repaired. As soon as I walked in Dan started yelling at me to get out at the top of his lungs. I had no idea what was going on. He kept right on screaming, was vulgar, abusive, mean and I hadn't even said a word! I have never been treated see horribly in my life. I'm 70 yrs old! I didn't know what to do. I tried to explain but he kept ranting! He is a despicable human being with absolutely no respect! I will never go back in that store. I see from other reviews he treats a lot of customers this way! Dan is a very talented guy. He repairs more leather things than just shoes. I had a nice suede jacket that tore from wear and he repaired the tear and gave it new life. I'm taking in my hiking boots for repair today and also plan to buy a pair of every-day shoes. Listen. This man has saved shoes that I genuinely thought unsalvageable. In fact, another cobbler in town told me to throw them away. Dan was able to take the soles off and replace them. I could have wept with joy. From new heel caps, to strap repair - he does it all. Reasonable prices and high quality work. I had a pair of dexter shoes that had that fall apart urethane sole but great uppers resoled by Dan and they look better than when they were brand new and now they have a real rubber vibram sole. I am very impressed and am going to bring another pair of hunting boots with a similar problem and see if he can do his magic on them too. I've used Dan in the past to fix beloved shoes. Today, I brought in my 2 favorite (expensive) sandals whose straps were coming unglued. I tried to fix with super glue to no avail and figured he'd have some good glues. He became very irritated with me and said "I don't have time for this!" and stalked off. The first week in January I took a pair of leather black platform boots to this shop hoping he could help me fix them. I was willing to pay $$$, since the front bottom platform of the shoe had rotted and needed to be replaced. I knew this process would take time and not be easy. He had explained to me that he would be happy to do it and that he would just make a new mold of the platform and order it to then replace the damaged mold. I was SO excited that he was willing to fix them. He told me they would be done by spring, which I thought was totally fair since he had a lot of people in front of me. I checked in with him the beginning of March just to see how it's going, and he told me he hadn't got to them yet. I understood and told him I would check back again in about a month, and that I wasn't necessarily in a rush to get them back but that I would appreciate a time line. Today is April 30th and I went back to see how things were going. When I asked about the boots, he said he hadn't started them and didn't know when he would get to them. When I asked if he had a timeline for when he thought he could get to them he put the boots on the counter and said "I'm not doing these, I'm done". Not only am I disappointed that I waited 4 months just for him to say he won't do them, but I'm upset that his reaction to me asking for a timeline that I believe was completely fair to ask. I even told him I wasn't in a rush and that I just wanted to know when he would be able to potentially start working on them. It seemed like he was annoyed with me following up and that's why he won't do them. He did not have the nicest tone. I hope this review can be a wake up call to be more communicative with customers and to be honest if you don't have the time or abilities to complete a repair. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would! I was looking to have a zipper put on a duvet cover and it was recommended I go here. Dan was very short and unprofessional in his demeanor. When I told Dan what I was wanting he replied "I don't think that's necessary" and when I explained that was what I wanted he rudely said "I'm not interested, thanks anyway". Something has changed. This was our go to place but a distracted clerk wanted our repaired shoes gone as they were taking up space. We picked them up the same day as the call. Awful, hurtful customer service!!! We rarely write reviews unless we feel strongly about something and I just couldn't let this guy get off..I cannot believe how my husband was treated over the phone by "Dan" . He called to ask if he ever dealt with damage to a heel of one of our shoes that our dog chewed on and he said "I don't have time for that" and hung up. My husband called back to see if there was some sort of mistake and told him it wasn't polite to hang up on customers. He told my husband "don't tell me how to have phone manners and you ever think maybe that's why your dog chewed up your shoes!" Dan's the man! He is very prompt and professional in his reply/ service when I recently inquired both via email/ calls about some belt buckles that he's selling in his leather shop. He answered all my questions, took the time to take pictures of his inventory, emailing them to me and I eventually decided to proceed with a big order. He packaged them with care and shipped it out to me from WI to CA and got here in less than 4 days! The transaction was so smooth and flawless I can't be more happy with my decision to deal with Dan. A very pleasant experience. I took my favorite boots to get the soles reattached and dropped them off right before closing. I got a text before lunch the next day that they were already done! I have never been so mistreated by an owner before. In a few short months I'm getting married and as my "something old" on my wedding day I had hoped to wear the same shoes my mother wore on her wedding day. I took them to Dan in hopes to get them dyed to freshen them up being it's been 30 years since they were last worn. The shoes were dyed two different shades of the pink that I was told it would be, although both shades were pretty, I clearly needed them to match. After I went into the store to see if the problem could be fixed I was told that I was entitled, that the profit margin on fixing my shoes was not worth his time. As if this wasn't upsetting enough, he then called me a princess and told me that I needed to leave the store. Dan was very ignorant on the phone. I called to ask a few questions in order to know if I should drive forty plus miles and drop off multiple pairs of boots. Dan raised his voice, cursed and couldnt give me a simple answer if he could resole a pair of boots and alter another. I have specific needs due to my profession and becoming irritated with what seems like simple questions just drove me away. Im not sure of there quality so I cant comment on that, but dont ask Dan any questions on the phone cause he will tell you "I dont know, just bring the shit in". read more

Horrible customer service! I would never step foot in his shop again! I was in need of alterations to my leather chaps. Dan's idea on what to do was different than what I really wanted as I did not want the original chaps to be cut...leather would likely not match in color or quality. I left the chaps with Dan and then called back the next day, just not comfortable with the direction Dan wanted to go. Requested another idea and that is where things went bad. Over the phone call he expressed how busy he was and that since it was a holiday weekend everyone wanted their items now and he just "didn't have time for this" and then told me to come get my chaps and take them someplace else. Extremely abruptly and unprofessional. I walked down to his shop to retrieve my item. I told him that I was sorry for his level of customer service. His response was, "You are right, You are sorry." I could not believe it. I again commented on the poor customer service and Dan told me to "quit the girly stuff and go tell my story to someone who cares." I only stated that he should not worry and that I would share my story. So that is what I'm doing today. I hope this brief explanation of my experience will encourage you to take your business elsewhere.
