We chose Danya for our city hall wedding and she definitely exceeded our expectations. We originally saw her work during our friend's wedding and decided that we really liked her style. My husband and I are not really social media people who take a lot of pictures, so it was really helpful that gave us really clear instructions. She is very detail orientated and will make adjustments as needed on the spot. Danya is also a very sweet and friendly person to work with, so that also put us at ease and just allowed us to be ourselves. I think that reflected on the final pictures themselves as well:) The final photos will be cherished for years to come!
We couldn't be happier with our experience with Danya! We first worked with her for our SF City Hall engagement photoshoot and loved both the experience and the photos, so choosing her again for our wedding day was an easy decision :) We loved our engagement photos so much that we used them for our wedding invitations and even created a photobook for guests to sign during reception, which has become such a special keepsake we'll cherish forever. Danya was professional, organized, and incredibly easy to work with throughout the entire process. On our wedding day, she captured everything so naturally -- from the big emotional moments to the small candid details. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and delivered beautiful photos that truly reflect our day. We are beyond grateful to have worked with Danya for both our engagement and wedding, and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a talented, thoughtful, and professional photographer!
We had the pleasure of working with Danya for our City Hall wedding, and she was absolutely amazing from start to finish. From the beginning, she was responsive, thoughtful, and answered all of our questions, which helped ease any nerves we had going into the day. Danya made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera and really allowed us to be ourselves. She was also incredibly patient and sweet with our dog Finn, who can be a little anxious--somehow she got him to cooperate and even pose for some of our favorite shots! The photos from our elopement are beautiful and everything we hoped for. We're so grateful for Danya and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a talented and kind photographer.

Danya has a very positive and bubbly attitude. I loved her editing style, very bright but natural, based on what I saw online and felt immediately comfortable when we met. She was prompt, professional, and organized from start to finish. So easy to work with and no detail was left out. We did engagement shoots which was a great chance to get used to be in front of camera. I warned her that my husband and I are super awkward and never take photos together and she smiled and said not to worry. She was right there was no need to worry, she helped guide us where and how to stand in a way that made all the photos come out natural. Her energy was exactly what I needed/wanted for the big wedding day. She was energetic and cheerful throughout the whole day and her second shooter Erika was also so easy to work with. She made sure to get all requested shots and many more. There were a lot of candid shots that took me right back to the moment and emotion at the time. I could not be happier with how the photos and editing turned out. I now how beautiful photos to cherish for a lifetime. I do not hesitate to recommend Danya to anybody looking for a photographer that will deliver fantastic results.
Danya is truly a gem! My husband and I were so honored to have her as our photographer for our engagement session and civil ceremony. She made us feel very comfortable during both sessions and guided us throughout the process with ideas on how to pose for photos. I love her photography style as it gives a wanderlust romantic feel, yet still captures all emotions at the right moment. We cannot thank her enough for all these wonderful photos! We cannot recommend Danya enough! From our engagement session to the big day, she was an absolute dream to work with. Danya has a true gift for making people feel at ease in front of the camera--she guided us through poses so naturally and helped us feel completely relaxed. One of the most touching moments was when she went out of her way to speak Mandarin to our family which we really appreciate. During our engagement shoot, we chatted like old friends and felt an instant connection. Her photography style is classic and timeless, and we are beyond thrilled with how beautifully our photos turned out. Danya captured all the emotion and joy of our wedding day perfectly--we'll always treasure these memories.
TLDR; Danya Chen Photography (Danya) captured our wedding moments that we will cherish for a lifetime and made us feel at ease with her experience, easy going demeanor. She has a great eye + editing skills and was professional throughout with excellent communication, timely gallery deliveries, and in general, just a really pleasant person to work with. We first found Danya Chen Photography through Instagram. Instantly, we knew that her photography and editing style spoke to us. She was actually the first vendor we booked after our venue. We reached out to several photographers, but in the end, it was an easy choice to go with Danya and she absolutely delivered. (1) Communication: After submitting a request form, Danya was prompt with her response, and we were able to set up a virtual meeting. We actually booked with Danya more than a year in advance of our wedding and were planning from out-of-state, but as the date drew closer, she kept on top of it, and got all the information she needed from us (wedding details, shot list, timeline), so that on the day of the wedding, we had no doubt she and her 2nd photographer would photograph everything we wanted whether it was a posed or candid shot. (2) Vibe & Experience: From our intial meeting and engagement photo session (included with our wedding package), my husband and I immediately felt at ease with Danya. She was both personable and had a lot of experience. You know that feeling when a camera comes out and suddenly you don't know how to "act natural"? Even though my husband and I weren't naturals when it came to the more posed pictures, Danya easily guided us with her friendly demeanor and tips. It was obvious that she was a pro at photographing couples (height differences, best face side, hair placement, etc.). It was also a big bonus that Danya has a lot of experience under her belt so she had actually photographed quite a few weddings at our venue and knew how to deal with the outdoor ceremony elements and backlighting of the dinner reception room. Danya even came to our ceremony rehearsal and gave us instructions that ensured our ceremony flowed and allowed for good pictures without us having to be focused on that on the day of. Danya built quick rapport with our wedding party and knew everyone by name. (3) Style: Of course, the first thing that drew us to Danya was her amazing photos. With just a quick look at her Instagram, you can see that she photographs a number of couples and their weddings so beautifully and her editing style is bright and airy. On the day of, she and her 2nd photographer Chrystal worked efficiently and professionally, arriving at their set times and moved us along to stay on schedule and worked through the shot list. However, they were also in the background capturing lots of good candid moments of my husband and me, as well as the wedding guests. Despite the busy wedding season, Danya delivered a highlights gallery very quickly and then delivered the full gallery well within her promised timeline. When we look through the photos, we are instantly transported back to our various wedding moments and can't help but smile and reminisce. The flatlays and detail shots are lovely, but in particular, I love how she captured reactions to wedding speeches and everyone grooving on the dance floor. I also want to mention that the systems she has in place make it easy to access the photos and download. My husband and I are the first among our friends to get married and have absolutely recommended her to our friends. Anyone would be lucky to book Danya as their wedding photographer!
I want to preface this review by saying that I love Danya's work and had been following her for quite some time prior to my engagement. I also SUPER appreciated her getting our photos to us before our engagement party, which was a huge ask and was not expected at all because our session took place only a few weeks before the party. As such, I do not write this review lightly and while I had initially decided against writing a review, I do think that clients who are unable to book with Danya as their primary photographer should know what this may mean. As I mentioned, I was extremely excited to hire Danya as our engagement photographer, but as she currently only does engagement photos for couples who also book their wedding photography with her and we did not yet have a date (or even year) in mind for our wedding, we could not have her as our primary photographer. We instead booked with her associate, Raven, who was available on the weekends. I had also previously seen Raven's work and was happy to have her take our photos. Raven was super fun to work with and so sweet. Our engagement session was on a super gloomy, chilly day, but she was in great spirits, which made everything more bearable. On leaving the session, I had extremely high hopes for how the photos would turn out. However, we were disappointed in how our final album of photos turned out. In hindsight, we could have used a lot more coaching and instruction on how to position ourselves. Several of our photos were very unflattering, whether it was how we were positioned or how the light hit our faces. Attached is one of at least 3-4 photos where I have a glaring patch of light on my forehead while my partner is squinting in the sun, neither of which made for great photos. There were also some photos, where despite the post-processing, you can clearly see someone in a bright blue jacket coming up the cliff behind us, ruining the shot. This photo is also attached with the review. Overall, I have mixed reviews. I had a good experience working with Danya on the front and back end of planning for the session, and I loved working with Raven during the session, but I'm not happy with how the photos turned out. As such, in planning for our wedding, we have booked another photographer.
We are SO SO SO happy we went with Danya as our wedding photographer!!! We found Danya on IG and when we saw her work and we knew we wanted her as our photographer. We love her bright, airy, and whimsical photography style as it perfectly matched the aesthetic we were going for for our wedding. After speaking with Danya on the phone, it solidified our decision; we loved how fun, easy going, and willing she was to answer each one of our many questions. Our first in-person meeting was during our engagement shoot and she was AMAZING to work with. My husband and I are not very photogenic to say the least and she was able to pose us like we knew what we were doing!!! She was incredibly descriptive and ensured each limb was in the right position. Danya was so patient and made us feel so comfortable! The entire experience and environment was fun and relaxing! This made us so excited and less stressed out to shoot with Danya and her team for our wedding day! As for the wedding, we really appreciated that we were able to fill out a questionnaire before the wedding with what shots we wanted. So Danya knew exactly what we wanted the day of the wedding. There was no confusion or questions asked and it was just go-go-go the day of and everything went so smoothly. We started the wedding day with a shoot at the hotel. We did some bridal and groom photos and did some flat lays as well. The flat lays were so artistically placed and now able view all the keep sakes i.e wedding cards, jewelry, in a photo! As for the wedding itself, Danya was not only a photographer that day, but also a conductor! She was able to command multiple groups of rowdy family and friends with ease and poise. Our wedding photos came out BEAUTIFULLY and our family and friends still rave about it to this day! Again, Danya is an expert in describing what each person needs to do to get these amazing shots. She simply does not come to merely point and shoot during a wedding; her photos are carefully but efficiently curated when possible and it absolutely reflects in her work. Lastly, I wanted to mention that I started getting nervous during our sunset photos, just due to all the wedding attention and jitters; but Danya was able to calm me down. She was able to remind me that we are just having fun and started to joke around and somehow got my mind off the whole thing. Danya is so empathetic in nature and this made me feel so happy that we decided to go with her. Sometimes folks forget that the bride and groom are human too, and it was nice to have someone there to be an advocate for us during the wedding. Overall, Danya was worth every single penny and she is a TRUE GEM in the wedding industry! Her artistic eye and strong directional skills made our photos look out of this world!! I smile every time I see our engagement and wedding photos :)! We cannot WAIT to print and put our wedding photos all over our house! We LOVE you Danya and we cannot wait to work with you again!!!
I always knew I wanted to use Danya's team for our future wedding. Danya had already done 2 of my friends' weddings, her photos are so lovely, and her price range is very reasonable! My husband was very impressed with how detail-oriented Danya is in sending a helpful questionnaire to fill out before the event. She is very communicative throughout the entire process, and introduced us to her new associate in-training, Chrystal. We chose Chrystal because she had experience working at Hakone Gardens (our venue), which was important to us. Both Danya and Chrystal are easy to talk to and work with! I also want to say that Danya was very accommodating in my request, because it was a 3-hour event, we were thinking of different ways to utilize the entire 6 hours that came with the package! A few days before our event, I was getting over Covid and was very stressed about what that would mean for my vendors. Luckily, Danya and Chrsystal were prepared for such cases: wearing masks and using a longer lens to keep distance, and it was helpful we had an outdoor venue. Chrystal was very clear with directing and posing us from a distance. Her enthusiasm and friendly demeanor was a joy to have around! I was very clear on what/who I wanted in photos, and we were so happy with the results! Not only did Chrystal provide us with beautiful memories to look back on, she did so in 3 weeks!! All our friends and family have complimented the photos and commented on how beautiful I looked, despite me having to do my own makeup (watched a YouTube video) since my HMUA had canceled! Highly recommend Danya and her team, especially Chrystal! Thank you for giving us the gift of remembering our late wedding!

She always made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, was on top of her communication and reminders (even when we weren't), and went above and beyond to provide guidance and provide recommendations, even if it wasn't directly related to her services. She was so patient and flexible with us throughout the whole process and even braved the cold (twice!) when the weather didn't go according to plan. We couldn't recommend her enough!

Danya and her team are amazing! My husband and I are both pretty shy in front of the camera, but she was able to guide us through our engagement shoot (at city hall) along with poses for the wedding day. All the photos ended up AMAZING! She's extremely detail oriented and was able to help us create our timeline of the big day, which we got many compliments from our guest how timely the day went. We also did not have a wedding planner, because we trusted her THAT much. Danya was our favorite vendor! If you're considering her, just book the consultation! She's also super approachable and responds in a timely manner to every big or small question we had through text and email. read more

Danya is amazing! We worked with both Danya and her associate, Raven, for our recent summer 2022 SoCal wedding. Raven was also our photographer for our engagement shoot in SF. Danya is responsive to emails, super organized, and provides thoughtful and detailed responses. I also appreciate that she is very active on Instagram and engages with her clients and other wedding vendors she's worked with. On the day of the wedding, she made us feel comfortable and at ease. She is sweet and approachable but will also provide direction and guidance throughout the day to keep you (and your friends and family) on track. We loved our photos! Her editing style is romantic without being overly washed out - vibrant but understated. I especially loved all of her detail shots and how she captures candid moments. We were also impressed with the fast turnaround time on her photo edits. We got our wedding highlights about a week after our wedding and received our full gallery a few weeks later. We booked Danya as our photographer for both our engagement and wedding photos. She was amazing and if you're thinking about booking her... just do it. I found her on Instagram and was a huge fan of her work so decided to reach out. She was responsive throughout the entire time we worked with her. We had to postpone our wedding and she was so accommodating which made it less stressful for us. During our engagement session she made it so comfortable for us and helped us with all the poses. As for our wedding day, she was so helpful throughout the day and our bridal party felt really comfortable with her. She also helped me with my dress a few times which I appreciated! A week or so after the wedding she shared with us a sneak peak album and set expectations on when we'd get the full one. Hire Danya! She took our engagement and wedding photos and did an amazing job. When my wife and I were first researching photographers, Danya's portfolio definitely stood out. Her style is very bright, modern, and timeless. We also noticed that even in big group photos, no one was blinking (we noticed other photographers' portfolios had at least one person blinking). After receiving all of our wedding photos, which took a little over six and a half weeks, they exceeded our expectations! Danya is the perfect mix of bubbly and professional. My wife and I agree that she is someone that we can hang out and grab Boba with. It is important that you are comfortable with your photographer when doing your engagement session and she made it so much fun! On top of that, she provides high quality work as well as guidance. We asked for her input on a lot of aspects of our wedding that were not photo related such as timeline, flower arrangements, layout of our tables, etc. She provided amazing insight and she really did care about having the perfect wedding for us. Danya shot our engagement and wedding photos and I literally look at them every day; its on slideshow as my phone wallpaper . It was such a fun experience to work with her and our pictures turned out amazing! Very chill and easy going, definitely helped us feel relaxed in front of the camera. My husband and I worked with Danya for our engagement photos and wedding photos. I love her style and how she makes the colors pop out while maintaining a dreamy look. My husband is a photo teacher and a photographer himself, so it was definitely not easy for him to settle with any photographer since he has such a discerning eye, but I'm so glad that he loved Danya's style as well, and was the one that recommended her. Danya is truly an expert and makes the sessions feel comfortable and easy-going so you're not nervous at all. She has a great demeanor and is very helpful with her instructions to get the perfect shot. We booked her in 2019 and she has been so flexible and understanding when we had to push back our date not only once, but twice. Danya was amazing on the wedding date and even though it was only a few days ago, she already had some photo previews for us and they look as amazing as I knew they would! Her second shooter, Raven, was also great and they worked so well as a team. I was very comfortable and stress-free during the wedding since Danya always had a direction and she already knew what she wanted to do during the shoots. The special moment of our lives was beautifully captured. We are so happy that chose Danya as our photographer! Her photography skills are the best. The photos are just unbelievably beautiful!! Danya is also so responsive with any questions you have. She makes sure that she gets all the important details even the small details about your wedding day to make your special day flows smoothly. We are so happy and stress free on the day of our wedding. We did not even worry about "how to pose" in our pictures. I came across Danya through her instagram profile and fell in love with her work. She did an absolutely amazing work to cover us for our multi-cultural wedding, in fact that was what stood out the most for me in her profile that she had covered multi-cultural weddings prior. We reached out to her through her website and got a reply next day to setup a call. When we talked to her we had instant connection and by the end of the call we knew we wanted her to cover our big day. She kept a constant communication with us and we went over the details of wedding day with her. On the wedding day we blended Indian and American rituals in one ceremony, there were a lot of details to look for. Danya did an amazing job to capture our moments, we are in love with her photography. She really has an eye for the details. She is easy-going and friendly, we were really comfortable with her. On the day we were so busy we never even noticed how much the guests were enjoying themselves; Danya got great photos of that so we could see it afterwards. She captured the beautiful fun moments of our guests that I and my husband missed. Her photos took usback to the day - they're so good! Danya was such a pleasure to work with! We booked her for our wedding in 2020 and she was so understanding and flexible when we postponed the date twice. We were shy and awkward at our first engagement shoot, but Danya knew exactly what to do and guided us on everything. She made us feel comfortable and it's was always fun during the photoshoots. It felt more like she was a friend who happened to be with us. We had so much fun that we asked Danya to shoot a second engagement session. We wanted glowy, golden hour photos, but the weather didn't cooperate with us at the desired location. She was there early and suggested a different nearby location that had more sun. Unfortunately the clouds moved and covered the sun again, but we appreciated her going the extra mile for us (and the photos still turned out beautiful)! Prior to the wedding, she maintained great communication and would check in with us periodically. We provided her a wedding day timeline and photo list and she incorporated them seamlessly. The wedding day was stress-free as Danya knew exactly what was going on and gave direction during the shoots. We were ahead of schedule and made some changes, but Danya adapted quickly. She is extremely professional and so easy to get along with. We really appreciated how quickly she provided a few photos for us a day after the wedding! Danya is a great photographer, she's very personable and knows how to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. She is very responsive and active on her social media so communication with her is almost always instant. Danya shot our engagement photos as well as our wedding. You can tell she's found her passion in life. After our engagement photo shoot my fiance and I at the time went to dinner. By the time we finished dinner Danya had already sent us some highlights! IS THAT NOT CRAZY?? Same goes for our wedding, by the end of the night/next morning highlights were already in my inbox. She's awesome. If you're looking for a photographer with that light airy feel, give Danya a call - she will take care of you. It's amazing to see how much recognition she's gained since we booked her last year. We had Danya photograph our Covid backyard wedding and she was just as wonderful as the first time we worked with her. She was sweet with our guests while making sure to get the portraits we asked for. I love that she captured portraits but also so many authentic moments. Danya is top notch! Trust me, she's the one. This was my fiancé and I's first photography session ever, so we were a bit nervous going in to it, but Danya gave us the tools and instruction to not only make us look but feel natural. She has such a sweet and personable character that gave us the confidence boost to just have fun with the whole process.
