It meant that, by default, I had to try a nata or Portuguese egg tart. I have a huge weakness for natas. I dream of them often. What is impressive is that my friend has had practically every baked good in this bakery's display case, except for maybe two items. Although I was more thirsty and wasn't dying to having something to eat, looking at the pear tarts, croissants, cheesecakes, and more made me throw all those physical feelings away. My friend picked up a number of chocolate bars and shared one of them with me. You can get everything from Sumol carbonated beverages in plastic bottles, to imported jams. We sat down at a table with chairs to enjoy our treats. It was a bit hot in this place. So, if you are looking for more effective air conditioning (I think it was a fan that cooled the place down here), you may want to try another venue. I loved my nata. It was custardy and yummy. The exterior was flaky and enjoyable. There was a hint of sweetness. It was indeed the perfect nata. This place also has sandwiches. There's a separate area where you can order takeout. This is how I created the listing on Yelp, but the Yelp Moderators changed it to just "TP Tea" and removed the "Mochi Bakehouse" part. {shrug} So like every week I search on Google for "mochi donuts near me" (lol) and I always get hits for places in Toronto. Then one day, I saw this TP Tea X Mochi Bakehouse place on Baseline Rd appear as a search result. Was it for real? It had no reviews and only external pictures. Was it even open yet? I continued to watch that search result for a few days. Then on October 23, 2023, three reviews popped up, one with a picture of bubble tea and the reviews mentioned how tasty the mochi puffs were. Turns out that was their soft opening day. Well, guess what? I went the next day! Their grand opening won't be until December though. I had my heart set on getting some mochi donuts, but they did not have any (and for some reason weren't able to make any), so I got mochi puffs instead. I got 12 for $9.50. I was able to choose 2 flavours, so I got Strawberry and Nutella Hazelnut Butter Cookie Crumble. They were so delicious! They are a bit like loukoumades but with that dense mochi chewiness. The outside was a bit crispy. I loved the texture. Service was friendly and informative. The place is beautiful. They have a pink flowered wall, a nice chandelier, a pink tree and lots of seating. It was light and airy and not too sweet. Service was efficient and pleasant. The shop has a one way flow, you enter one door and you follow the arrows and exit a different door.
