We ate here in June 2021. We had just arrived after a long transatlantic flight (with a layover in Amsterdam) and were staying nearby. Not wanting to venture too far, we decided to stop in here for a light dinner and we were very pleasantly surprised. We tried a number of things and loved it all. I loved the game sausage croquettes and learned that, as a result of the Moorish influence, game sausage is pork-free. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and informative (this was our first time in Portugal). We'll be back in Lisboa soon (just for a day) and plan to stop in here for lunch. read more

Yum! We loved this place so much, we came here twice; we dined here on our first night in Lisbon and decided to end the trip with our final dinner here as well. The staff are really sweet and accommodating. They don't take reservations and it's a popular dinner spot so be prepared to wait at the bar for a bit. I highly recommend the fried chicken piri piri; it came with a delicious piri piri aioli for dipping and it was indescribably good. The chourico came out on a flaming plate so if you order that, get your phone ready and do it for the instagram. The pork cheeks were tender and the red wine reduction is rich and robust. The crispy cheese was awesome; it's really simple but flavorful and it's something I want to recreate at home. The grilled octopus was nice and tender. The tempura green beans were good, but nothing to write home about. The garlic shrimp were really flavorful and delicious. Both cod dishes - the traditional preparation and the ceviche - were delicious. We also ordered a couple of salads to up our vegetable intake and they were bright and fresh and lightly dressed. The white sangria is refreshing and sweet. I also recommend the caipirinha and mojito; the bartender mixes them strong. The dessert selection is constantly changing but it's great. If the mango cheesecake is available, definitely get it. read more

Hands down one of the top two restaurants I ate out at while in Lisbon. It's a cozy, intimate interior with super friendly staff. Priced reasonably (but do note that it's cash only!), decent portions (for tapas), and the food is, well, incredible. Tried three dishes while I was here: the grilled octopus, codfish ceviche, and the curry risotto with shrimp. Grilled octopus: this was amazing. The octopus was perfectly cooked -- soft and tender, not a bit of chewiness at all -- and it was sauteed with roasted potatoes and caramelized onions. There was also a green sauce/mash that accompanied it which also tasted great. 5/5 Codfish ceviche: very fresh and interestingly it's served atop a mango and sweet potato mash (slightly sweet but not overpowering). Tasted good but wasn't a favorite. I'm used to ceviche having a more acidic/citrus kick which this was missing. 3/5 Curry risotto with shrimp: this was probably my favorite of the bunch. The risotto is much "lighter" because instead of pounds of butter and cheese, you get a slightly spicy curry flavor. And the shrimp were perfectly grilled with the right amount of salt. 6/5 Ugh, the Portuguese absolutely know how to slay with food and I've been slayed and brought back to life numerous times with what daPrata has to offer. The first day I got to Lisboa I came here for lunch with my girlfriends. This food is amazing! They're small topas dishes, perfectly sharable with three people which is what my group was. The first day we had the octopus rissotto, oxtail in pastry, the piri piri chicken and then they had a special that day can't remember what it was called but it was amazing. they were so attentive they knew what wines to suggest. we decided to end our trip there for dinner on our fifth night. When we walked in they remembered us and said welcome back and sat is promptly. we were lucky it actually got crowded after we arrived. For a second visit we had the.. Chicken once again as well as the risotto and oxtail wrapped in pastry we also added to it the ceviche, the pork cheek (which was my favorite hands down served over creamy the most creamiest mashed potatoes ever with pork cheek that melts in your mouth), cheese and apple pastry and shrimp in coconut milk. We also had their chocolate cake which seems so simple they call it chocolate cake but it's not it's like maybe a flourless chocolate cake with ganache just delicious. I could just keep going on and on about the delicious tapas that they serve. So much love went into the food and preparation. We asked to see the chef and he came out looking really confused, he's just so humble that he just thinks of himself as a person who just prepares food. Excellent food and drinks, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Everything we tried was delicious! We were a party of four adults and three children. This was the perfect choice to get the kids to be a little more adventurous. We tried many dishes and our favorites were the apple and cheese, chicken with peri-peri, sautéed octopus, duck breast and fried green beans - we ordered seconds of each of these. We appreciated that they went out of their way to make a less spicy peri-peri for the children in our party. We'll be stopping in for one more meal before leaving Lisbon! read more

What a great place!! I made some small research prior to going to Lisbon on some good places to eat close to the place where we were staying. We arrived to Lisbon on an extremely rainy evening and we were extremely happy that this place was just a short walking distance from our accommodation. The place doesn't look great from outside..but dont be fooled by the appearance..the food and the service is great!! There are just few tables in a restaurant and there is only one waiter/ barman to take care of your drinks and food - Hugo:) Hugo will give you a good advice on what to eat and to drink, if you need any. It is more like a tapa place, which meant sharing around 3-4 dishes between two of us to start with. We ordered Pica Pau - delicious, Bread sausage - it was ok but not great, octopus - delicious, chorizo, some other beef and some local wine. When we asked for a good wine, Hugo just asked us how much we wanted to pay - 8 or 15 euro..we decided to go with 8 euro choice - what a delicious wine it was - Caiado - red wine, drank in traditional mugs. If you like a simply served, but very delicious, honest food, please go and visit this place, if you are more about ambiance and paying more for fancy food, then dont.. it is your choice, but I can assure you that you will not regret it. We visited this place twice during our short trip and we had a great evening both times. read more

The small restaurant is packed but we are politely told in English we can wait at the bar or in the patio with drinks for a table to open. The menu is sofistocated flavors served in a simple manner and atmoshere. The service is 4 star! The moment the menu was explained in detail my mouth was watering. The size of the place allows for a real personal interaction. Trust the direction and helpfulness of the staff in ordering wine, portions and preference of flavors. This was my most loved meal in Losbon. Flavor explosion! Let me re-phrase it: this is the best everyday affordable restaurant in Lisbon. You need to order a minimum of two plates each, and that's just about right. The staff are great (they've remembered us every time we've come), and expand the descriptions of all the dishes when you order just to check that you like everything. I love this place. If I have to give it a negative, it only has a couple of tables that are suitable for more than two. Get there early, or have a short wait with a drink at the bar, and that's not really a problem though. read more

Came in around 10pm on a Saturday with a friend. We took one of two tables that were open. Service was slow to start as there was only one waiter for the whole place. He did his best and still managed to help describe the dishes to us and make recommendations. After we ordered, food came out quickly. We ordered the cod, blackened pork, duck and mushroom pastry. The duck was tender and full of flavor. Prices were very reasonable, around €7 per plate. They suggest you order 2 plates per person which seemed like a good amount. Loves the atmosphere and the food here. It is quite popular and we waited 15 minutes before getting a table. Dishes are tapa style and they recommend 2 dishes per person. I personally find the portion sizes to be very reasonable; we felt really full after 5 dishes between 2 people. The best dishes by far were: mushroom and asparagus, pork cheek, and the coffee cake. This is a 3.5 star review. I came here for dinner. Ordered cod ceviche and cod risotto. The ceviche was excellent; very creative and tasty. The rissoto was good but nothing special. Now where they lose 1.5 stars: 1) 0.5 stars for the unpleasant experience at the beginning. I was asked what to drink, I was told that all wine glasses where 3.5 euros (overpriced for Lisbon), so I skipped drinks and asked for a glass of water. I got a very unpleasant look from the waiter, and was served 2/3 of a tiny glass of water... That was very unpleasant to say the least .. The waiter's follow up made things worse: he moved to tell me that "it's not culturally common in Portugal to ask for tap water." That of course is both false and lame; in all restaurants I've been to in Lisbon so far I was served tap water when I asked for it, along with many other tables around me, and the waiters were very nice about it. At this point I wanted to leave, but I decided to let it go... The service got better and nicer after I ordered food. 2) 0.5 stars for the relatively small portions. Either the portions are too small for the price or the price is too high for the portions; this is the kind of prices I pay in Barcelona (which is an overall more expensive city), not Lisbon. 3) 0.5 stars because they don't take cards... This place is a total gem. My boyfriend & I just got back. It's located in a very touristy area but it's not one of the many tourist traps-- everything was well-made & delicious. This is a tapas place so we ordered the grilled sausage, crispy cheese w/apples, cod w/smoked ham & the grilled octopus. Each dish was more delicious than the last.
