I'm super bummed to be posting this because the vibe of the place is great and the people are super friendly, but I got the most mediocre tattoo here. I told the artist what I wanted and he initially insisted he couldn't do the size or design. I next asked for a basic gradient of color and showed him a photo for reference. Unfortunately, I ended up with these blocks of color. As he was working, I asked that he ensure the color blended and he said as it healed it would..? He knew we traveled up from San Diego, and said he'd do a free touch up if we came back again and to text him. I even tipped the guy 40% hoping that he would put more effort into the next round. Unfortunately a week after I sent the text message, he responded to say he'd "work on it" and just never got back to me again. Fortunately, my husband's tattoo came out exactly as expected, so I'm making sure to average my star rating based on both designs and executions. read more

Dave from Dark Heritage is my go-to artist. Never before have I gotten such good customer service, realistic work, and the ability to have my vision fully realized as a piece of art. I've gotten three rather large pieces, the first being a cover-up that is still in progress of a Xenomorph on my forearm. Dave took his time and was very sympathetic to working with the difficult task of covering up a very bad, old tattoo. The latest piece of Sam from Trick'r'Treat still needs another session that I already have booked (thanks to Dave's extremely easy booking process) and I couldn't be more excited for the detail that he's going to still add. The shop itself is a horror fan's dream, with so much memorabilia to look at while you're sitting for 8 hours. There is also a TV with streaming services available if you need a little distraction from feeding your ink addiction. All the equipment is opened in front of you and the environment is constantly cleaned so no need to worry about any mishaps. The bathrooms, ladies, the bathrooms... It's such a relief to use clean facilities in a male dominated industry and these restrooms are honestly cleaner and more pleasant to use than the one's up the street at a certain theme park. I just came back from another great session with Rob at Dark Heritage Tattoo Gallery. This place... is magical. Every artist in here are one of the most welcoming, chill, and funny cast of characters you can come across. Everyone is smiling, and crackin' jokes... good ol' dad jokes and casual hazing. It's so good. From my last review, I was back here in February of this year. Now it's just 10 months later. Can you believe? I couldn't wait to get another session in with Rob. Rob and I powered through a long session. There are TVs that you can pick and choose what to watch during your session, and we both watch the entire season of White Lotus. Rob continues to be an amazing artist here at Dark Heritage. He takes great pride in his work and won't settle for less. We had to replace the stencil 4 different times because he wanted to make sure all the important stuff wasn't getting cut off. He is extremely thoughtful and thrives to ensure his work matches his standards. I truly appreciated him making sure not only I was happy, but he was happy as well. Him and wife share a space together, and it was amazing to see their dynamic. Artists here uplift each other, and they value each other's opinions so much -- that makes Dark Heritage a great place to get tattooed at. They take extreme pride in what they do, not as a studio, but as individual artists as well. They hold each other accountable to a high standard, which is amazing because they want to make sure they are putting their best work into their clients. It was a long session, so I truly appreciate Rob for taking the time to get things right and making sure I was comfortable throughout the entire session. I got my first large full color tattoo done by Brooke a little over two weeks ago, and I have to say, the experience went beyond my expectations. The shop was so cool! Cool collections from the artists favorite games/shows/bands everywhere. There was always something fun to look at. Everyone in the shop seemed totally chill. It was a great atmosphere for a first timer! Brooke was nothing short of amazing. She created the cutest piece for me and she really made my experience top notch. She was so sweet and super patient with me since I was a little nervous for my first time getting a large tattoo. It took about 4 1/2 hours but it felt like I went by fast. The tattoo healed beautifully, even with the hiccups (ended up being allergic to the bandages she gave me) Brooke was very responsive and always gave me detailed instructions on what to do next. Shop: the shop is super clean and all the artists in there are easy going and put off an overall calming demeanor. They also have TVs going (it's been random movies every time I've been in) which is great when you don't want to commit to watching anything, but want to space out. I was super excited to have a female artist and an artist that posts healed work. I made the mistake for my first tattoo of going purely off hearsay rather than proof of how their work was, so I knew I wanted a different experience for my next big piece. Chanel has been nothing but a bed of roses, both in her interaction and actual tattooing experience. Over the last few months, I have spent roughly 12 hours at Dark Heritage Tattoo getting work done by Karina. As for the shop itself, it is clean and comfortable. When you're here, artists will be talking to each other and each others clients, REAL talk. It's such a friendly atmosphere to be getting tattooed in. I've had two other pieces done by Karina when she was at other shops, one custom and one off her drawn flash (roughly 10 hours of work total). I came to her recently to add on to my custom piece and then to rework a really sad looking butterfly. I gave her some input, but really know that I can trust her creative process. I love the colors she picks and letting her work her magic was definitely the right choice for all the work I've gotten done by her. Her style is Neo traditional her pigments are beautiful and she really puts in 100% on on her tattoos. I've done 3 tattoos with her all 3 were 8 to 12 hour sessions each. She is pretty gentle and we do little breaks here and there when we both need it. Remember you get what you paid for.
