I ended up buying my daughters dress in Covington, but I decided that I wanted to buy the veil somewhere local. This wedding dress shop is in the Warehouse district, in an old factory. We arrived a bit earlier than the appointment, so we waited in the front seating area. The lady who assisted us was very nice and knowledgeable. I even unexpectedly tried on a few mother of the bride dresses from their brides maid dress collection upstairs. It was still early on, and I didn't end up going with any of those choices, but I appreciated that it taught me what I wanted and what to look for the next time.They registered our top choices in their database, and we didn't feel pressured at all. Later we called to see what the designer the veil that she chose was, and the gentleman stated that he wasn't sure how to find that in their system. We actually ended up buying what was similar, or possibly the same veil, in Covington for more money and better customer service.

Like most dress shops, Twirl requires that you schedule an appointment, in order for you to have the full attention and help from one of the bridal consultants. Emily helped me, and she was great! I didn't really have any specifics in mind, and she helped me narrow it down to the style that I liked, and eventually we found the perfect dress! My mom and sister were able to join me as well, which made the experience 100x better. The shop is on Clay Avenue and has a very strong "pink & girly" vibe which I felt right at home in. Twirl writes the names of girls who have dress appointments on a "Welcome" sign on their front porch- a nice touch. Twirl also has a great instagram account which is how I found out that they've recently started a podcast as well- catered mostly towards a bridal audience. Weeks would go by with little to no hours, and communication from management was extremely poor. When I tried to ask about getting on the schedule or picking up shifts, I was often met with rude responses or completely ignored. It felt very unprofessional and honestly misleading to hire someone if there's no intention of actually giving them work. If you're applying here expecting consistent hours or respectful communication, I would strongly suggest asking a lot of questions first. My experience left me feeling like my time and effort didn't matter.

TERRIBLE ALTERATIONS! I had a horrible experience with…read morealterations on my mother-of-the groom dress. I think I could have done a better job myself, and I paid $178! I had the bodice shortened at the shoulders (a reasonable $13); armholes cut down (a reasonable $33); sleeves reset (a reasonable $33); the dress and lining hemmed (an unreasonable $66) for a 34" hem circumference; and the leg slit sewn from above knee to slightly below ($33). The seams weren't finished in the armholes; the hem wasn't pressed (until I asked) and the hem looked puckered; the leg slit they partially closed was not closed completely, (part of the lining showed) and it was puckered; and they added an unexpected pleat on each shoulder. I didn't notice the unfinished seams or the botched slit until I got home, so I was stuck with fixing these things myself. I can't believe that such expensive alterations were so poorly done.

Prom dress shopping should not be one where they are made to feel horrible, which was our experience at The Prom Room in Mt. Sterling. Geno's was the complete opposite, making my girl feel like a princess. They had dresses for all budgets and we found the perfect dress that was under my budget. I truly can't recommend Geno's enough. Rude and just awful employees. First, when me and my daughter asked for help, we were completely…read moreignored. I understand they are young girls still figuring things out, but when working in retail - customer service is extremely important. My daughter, whose dress fell through very last minute, was already discouraged when searching for a new last minute dress. The employees attitude only made this feeling worse leaving her with no excitement regarding attending the schools dance. I know managing a store can be tough, but monitoring what is happening when you aren't there is important as they just lost a customer willing to buy a nice prom dress right away. I hope everyone's experience is different, but they will not be receiving any service from me or anyone who cares to listen about my experience when there.
