This place is amazing! Every time I come to visit Lake Tahoe I will definitely be making this a stopping place for my alcohol needs. I wish there was store in my hometown of Ventura, CA. It's not as overwhelming as that other BEV center, yet it has everything you could imagine in a perfect layout that's easy to navigate. I had to walk every isle to see all the good stuff on their very clean and organized shelves. Stop at back counter bar for a unique perfect temperature draft and take a walk in their igloo cold box for your 12 packs and cases of beer. If it's wine, booze or beer you're looking for, you'll find it here. The staff was professional and friendly too. They've got snacks, sodas, gifts and more. Excellent beer selection BUT no prices on the craft beers. You could see where they pulled the prices from the racks and nothing on the products so I took one up for a price check. For a 4 pack that I know that goes for $14.99, they were asking $28.99! I said thank you and put it back. read more

Back in the day this use to be the go to place to buy alcohol. It was worth the drive to Nevada to be able to save on your bill. Slowly over the years the pricing caught up with California but it was still a good place to go for a wide selection of beverages. Fast forward to about four years ago, new ownership and extremely limited inventory. Hence, I avoided this place. Had the pleasure of visiting Dart again today and was pleasantly surprised by the remodel, a huge walk-in beer igloo and a beer tasting bar. I believe I heard that it changed ownership this past July. Nice staff but pricing is a bit high. read more

Dart has a great selection of beer, and good selection of spirits, a good selection of wine, and good prices!...what else were you hoping for? They are not as cheap as some of the huge stores in larger cities, and the wine and spirits selection is lacking when compared to those stores. Really disappointed in the pricing on the premium/hard to find bourbons. These were priced using secondary market pricing and really aren't fair to the consumer. I even asked the manager if prices were negotiable and he quickly shot that down. Great selection but I cannot see a reason to shop here. Going to leave the same review on Kings since these are owned by the same people. read more

I went to their sister store in South Lake Tahoe called Kings Beverage and was referred to this place for my bourbon fix. I just wanted to make you aware that we purchased Dart Discount Liquor out of bankruptcy several years ago and in studying the reasons for its bankruptcy we discovered that the "discount" liquor environment in Nevada has completely changed in the last several years. The previous owners tried to hand on to the Discount concept, but the prices in NV are no longer as competitive as they used to be, so it is very difficult for non national stores operating in NV to compete on a discount level. So we purchased the store and renamed it DART BEVERAGE CENTER. The discount name and concept has been removed and now we try to offer better service, multiple tastings a week and a huge variety of craft and specialty products. We've also completely remodeled the store with an eye toward more upscale flooring, facade and racking. read more

I am very picky about beer selections so I am probably a harsher judge than many when it comes to liquor stores. I wish Dart, like so many others, had a more local selection and more hard to find beers. Other than that, the selection is good. You can find any of the beers that are good and fairly common here as well as a few other extras. The store is large and seemed to have tons of other options if you are not a beer person. The wine and liquor seemed to be plentiful although that is something I didn't take a look at. They also have a growler filling area and they will fill any type of growler, which I think is fantastic. read more

Since Dart came under new ownership, a lot has changed for the better. Gone are the days of creepy, cranky guy at the register. Gone are the days of sad, empty shelves. The staff they have now is friendly, polite and willing / able to answers questions. The volume of stock isn't at the level of a Bev Mo (do the two really compare?) but the selection is back to what you would hope for from a liquor store. You can get a $20 bottle of Crown, or a $100 bottle of MacCallan's. There's also some cigars. And ping pong balls, for you know, playing ping pong. Also? Two words. BEER CAVE. Not the worlds *largest* selection of beer in there, but when we wandered in it looked like they're planning to expand the shelving a bit. Still, beer cave has everything from monster packs of what I lovingly call Hick Beer (think PBR, Bud, etc) and Beer Cave has sixers of "snob beer", so Beer Cave wins. read more

However, I will go on to say that DANG is the selection of mini booze taster thingies good. I've come to Dart several times before, usually in search of just a bottle of wine or a cigar, but this past visit I really took a good look at the mini booze display. Yowza. For one, they carry all three miniature Kah tequilas in the hand-painted ceramic skull decanters. I appreciate the owner's response to the review. Interesting comment from the liquor store that "I don't recommend doing your Xmas shopping in a liquor store." I have been given and received a number of very nice Christmas gifts of alcohol or alcohol products over the years (and I am positive that a number of them have been bought last hour). I have a collection of 50ml bottles in my game room - however, I would not buy these as a gift unless I knew I was buying them for something like this. Unfortunately, this incident was over the top and I still remember much of it today - I heard most of the exchange since I was only about an aisle away. It appeared to me that the couple in question had a specific gift in mind (i.e. chocolates) when they came into the store. Even so, with some good customer service (e.g. the female employee genuinely appeared to be trying to help them find a gift), I'm sure they could have found something nice. The spark to the gunpowder was talking about customers behind their back - not once but twice Unfortunately, as a business owner, you will have difficult customers from time to time. Training your employees to remember that, in the end, you should always do the right thing, even if it's hard. Thanks again for the owner's response. This is the easiest in and out liquor store if you are headed up to Tahoe. My insider tip is to get a large to go drink at a road-stop/potty break beforehand. Drink said drink. This review is based solely on Balvenie scotch prices. Husband wanted me to stock up on Balvenie Double Wood 12 year scotch 750ml. The Balvenie was $72 at Dart and $53.99 at BevMo in South Lake Tahoe. That's $18 more per bottle at Dart!! So drove the 6.9 miles from Dart to Bevmo and bought 5 bottles and saved almost $100. read more

If you are from the SF bay area, like me, you are probably used to great bottle shops and beer selection within constant reach. The coolest thing about DART to me was that being in Nevada (just across the Stateline border) you are going to see things here you would never see in California, due to distribution and whatnot. That goes for everything, including snack foods. Other than that, they just have everything you could want or need from a "Beverage Center". Better than Bevmo by a mile because they also sell tobacco, knick knacks, snacks galore, high end deli stuff, lottery etc. I love coming here when I am in Tahoe, even if it is just to buy a couple tall cans, a rare can of IPA and some snacks. The counter person is always friendly too, in my experience. read more

I had many visits here during my snowboard trips over the years. It's literally one of the first places you can pull into once entering Stateline to get stocked up. Seemed like there was always a sale going on, and the staff members were always great. Definitely one of the best places for liquor on the Nevada side. read more

Kind of torn. It is a great shop, good selection, easy to get to. Plenty of parking. It has one problem, waaaay over priced. Just go to Safeway or BevMo. Only reason you should go here is if staying and the Lakeside inn and need smokes or booze. Do have a good selection though. read more

Been shopping here for several years now and love coming here. Prices are comparable to grocery stores. Store has a nice beer cave with a wide selection of beers. At the back there are more refined beers from around the world. In the wine selection there is a great variances of discount wines to the more elaborate. Liquor is the same. The best part about coming here is Stephen. I have worked with him several times and he is very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. He has helped me on several occasions decide on an appropriate beer or wine and always steered me in a more than favorable and delicious direction!!! read more

Well well, what an unexpected gem. My friends and I are regular Tahoe drinkers and we decided to check out "the worlds largest beer igloo" That wasn't very cool but it felt good on a hot day. I don't know why they play that up do much when the rest of their store if so much better. They had tons of specialty beers and liquors that BevMo never carries. It was hard not to spend all our money in there. They had a sweet picture of Kramer from Seinfeld on the wall and they guy said "everything if for sale" which we though was amusing and a great business strategy. We will definitely make this a regular stop when visiting SLT from now on! read more
