This gym...well, it has potential, but it is a mess and has horrible route setting. While the lady owner is nice, the guy is a control freak and has no idea how to climb or set routes. He sets everything with holds super far apart and thinks that makes for interesting/hard climbing. The holds haven't been cleaned in probably 7 years. The floors are disgusting, the place stinks. And the bathrooms....oh my, the bathrooms. I actually dry heaved when I went into the Men's room last time I was there. There is some kind of septic back up that emanates the most foul smell out of the sink. And the water in the sink hardly even works. We all thought that the change in ownership might fix some of the infrastructure problems: but they did absolutely nothing! Avoid this place!

I understand this is cheaper than having to maintain the large inventory of holds required for colored routes but it is very confusing. 2. The crash pads/mats in the bouldering area can be significantly improved. In some cases they hide the lower footholds from routes, they are not flat and in some regions near where they meet the wall they are quite dirty. 3. The V rating in this gym makes little sense. There are some supposedly hard routes that are very easy and some supposedly trivial routes that should have been more highly rated. However, it was still fun to climb and the lady in the cashier was helpful. Though I would suggest explaining to new comers that there is a lower price for bouldering only day pass. Would also suggest making hand lotion available (moisturizer).

He was a down to earth guy who was trying his best given the circumstances. The teaching lesson took 2 hours because he had to keep going back and forth to check new people in, have forms signed, and check other people out. The other person called out leaving him to fend for himself. Christ remained calm and patient with all of us ensuring we don't injury ourselves. Only wish is that there were more courses we could use as we felt like they were either beginner or advanced options. Would come again to see Chris.

I thought that was super cool, and my kids loved it. The gym has high walls as well as a small bouldering area. The mats were a bit harder than what I was used to but nothing to worry about. As mentioned both on the website and in another review, it is a little confusing to find the gym but just keep walking to the back of the Evergreen community center and you'll find it. Something I was excited about for this gym was that it has relatively tall walls compared to what I am used to climbing on, and I was really looking forward to practicing some longer routes BUT there were only 2 auto-belays, which was a bit of a disappointment for me. If you know how to belay and have a buddy, there are a bunch of really awesome looking routes but if you are a solo climber that doesn't want to pay a staff belay, you're kind of SOL. The bouldering area is pretty good but I found myself really limited in what was offered to a not-super-great climber like myself. I also didn't understand the bouldering route system - one of the staff explained it to me and I THOUGHT I understood it, but it turns out I really didn't! Overall, it seems like this gym is geared towards more skilled climbers with not as many options for people like me. I had a good enough time, but it didn't feel like there was a lot of me there. I can imagine that this is an awesome place to go for more skilled climbers!

Kel is probably one of the only people in the world to hold both IFMGA certification and a PhD. Kel was highly competent, experienced, and knowledgeable about the discipline of ice climbing as well as the local area. He tailored the experience to meet my educational goals in addition to putting together a great day of ice climbing. We did 8-10 pitches with plenty of time for instruction, lunch, and debriefing, even on a short winter day. In the past I was hesitant to hire guides, but I've found working with them to be highly valuable and a great way to find/fix areas where I have conscious and unconscious incompetence. Kel offers a great service for clients who have existing experience in their discipline (rock/ice/alpine/etc) and want to dive deeper or go bigger.

Anyway, my friend initially tried to plan a guided trip up mount Washington and got quoted from a couple guide services. One was way out of our budget and the other never got back to us so she kept looking and found Adventure Spirit. They were super prompt friendly and helpful and answered any questions we had. We did two days with Josh and Cory and didn't really know what the first day entailed but that was because they tailored it to what we wanted to accomplish. The whole experience was very custom which I loved and they provided us with rental gear for the weekend. You could tell that they were focused on us enjoying our trip but their main priority was safety which in my opinion is the best thing you can look for in a guide service. They even took spontaneous pictures of us without us asking and emailed them to us which was so nice and unexpected. Josh and Cory did their best to keep the 7 members of our group together but eventually we split into two groups which was much better in my eyes because of varying ability level and speed. I felt like we were much more prepared than other guided groups we saw on the mountain likely due to the first day learning about the gear. I would have loved the trip either way but having awesome guides was the icing on the cake to an amazing experience. You could tell they both loved their jobs and worked very well with the owner Kel. I'm totally hooked and can't wait to book more trips with Adventure Spirit.

I love that they cater to both grigris and atc use. The walls are much higher than in our regular gym and are refreshingly challenging. The work out area is spacious and has a nice variety of equipment in good condition. The price for a day pass was very reasonable at only $15. The gym is clean and visually appealing. I unfortunately got there to late for the yoga class but would have loved to have tried that. Looked at the schedule and they have a nice selection of classes, from Vinyasa to strength. At the end of the month they even run a yoga class where the proceeds go to charity. We will definitely go back again the next time we are in town!
