I kept calling and getting told different things until I lost it and insisted on 3 way call between biller, myself and my insurance. So they couldn't lie and we all were on same page. Then I started getting unhappy texts come to find out someone else needs to be paid and had the wrong address. Omg 8 months ... I can't even say how many phone calls and hour on hold. But it's been horrible and I would not recommend. Definitely keep all the receipts and reference numbers ... a yr later and you might still be dealing with this.

I had around four appointments at Dayton Gastroenterology in 2022. My visits were filled with…read moremiscommunication between staff/doctors and excessive testing with no diagnosis. In the fall of 2022 I made my final payment in person and scheduled no further appointments. That was the last time I was in the office. Last year (2025) I got a call from a debt collector saying I had an unpaid balance at Dayton Gastroenterology and that they had sold off my medical debt to them. I called Dayton Gastro and was given the runaround for a couple days. Finally, they said that my payment had been accidentally refunded to my HSA account when their system crashed and was now considered past due. I asked why they had not contacted me about reissuing the payment and the lady I spoke to said the system crash affected too many patients and they couldn't call/email anyone because there were too many to call/email everyone. She did say that letters were mailed out the following summer (2023 - almost a year later!). Whether or not they did send letters, I will never know - because I had moved cities and bought a house in the mean time and never received one. I find Dayton Gastro's handling of this whole situation morally deplorable. What they are doing should be illegal if it isn't already. I have no issue paying my bill despite their mishandling of my money and medical records, but I will not deal with the debt collectors who now call me almost daily.
