We were recommended Spear's services by our realtor. The need was to complete a survey of our…read moreproperty (7,000 sf) to formally document the existence of an encroachment (our neighbor illegally using land on our side of the property line.) We do not recommend their services for any similar issue you may have. Despite 2 visits to our property, the initial survey draft showed wide inconsistencies, omissions, and inaccuracies--far beyond what should be expected from a firm that specializes in land surveys. E.g. fences not shown, curbs shown in wrong or entirely made up locations, incomplete or inaccurate descriptions. I spent several hours marking up the drawing to convey all the necessary revisions. We were on a tight deadline, which could excuse some of these errors. Still, their response times to emails varied widely and did not create the impression they were prioritizing the tight deadline, anyway. After a strongly worded email and my mark ups, Mr. Spear himself got involved. The standard of care increased dramatically after that. Still, we paid for his employees time spent revising items that should have been accurate in the first place. Your money is better spent elsewhere, please take my word for it.

A few months ago we decided to put in a water well. We checked on Google maps and thought oh here's…read morea good spot, it's on our property according to the Google property line. Then we had the property checked for where a good place to put a drill would be. One of the spots was in the corner of our property. The more we looked at it the more concerned we were about how close from the property line it was. I called around and it seems everybody was so busy they didn't have time or it would be months before they could come out to survey it. I called Spear and associates and they said that they would be able to squeeze me in. A few days later they were out surveying all six corners of our property. Very quick and easy to deal with also the price was much better than the other surveyors I had talked to. The Best thing about it was that we found we were about 30 feet over the property line on somebody else's property where we were going to drill. Thankfully we did not follow the Google Maps property lines and got it done properly.
