My family and I have used DATCU our entire time living in North Texas. For us, it's important to be a part of a credit union that gives back to the local community. And DATCU does just that. Because it is a smaller business, they don't have all the bells and whistles bigger banks have, but they have everything I need. Their staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful. They have a variety of options and are supportive. I grew up going here and as a teenager, their staff was helpful in explaining a lot to me. They have a lobby which you can go into, a few drive thru lanes, and an outdoor ATM. As someone living elsewhere while I was in college, it was pretty easy to maintain my account. So if you're new to North Texas and you're looking for a local credit union, look into DATCU. read more

I have used this DATCU on four vehicles and my house. I was referred to them when I went to buy a Mercedes a few years ago. I had forgotten how nice it could be to go into a financial institution (I have banked at B of A for 30 years) and be recognized and treated like a human being. On my first car, I met with the Branch Manager, Frances Salinas Al-Waely, and it was a breeze. Best rate I had ever had on an auto loan (pays to have good credit). I was so impressed I bought another Mercedes a few months later for my son through them. Got my son signed up with them and they helped him develop his credit history. I then moved my house to them as well and again an impressive low interest rate. This past weekend I sold one of my cars, and they were able to help payoff the vehicle, notarize a Bill of Sale for the buyer and me and general instruct us on how to handle this kind of transaction. I did read the two other reviews when I came here to post mine and I was shocked to see what poor reviews were there. I am sure people fail or make mistake everywhere, but my experience is these are real people who work with you and help you have a better life through the effort they take walking with you through your issues and financial decisions. Worset branch ever after today closing all accounts after 13 yrs the lady was so rude and degrading my father has left after 20yrs and all 28 employees of mine have closed their accounts never have i gone any where but my normal branch but even after dealing with flomo the damage was done and there was no solutions no help.just a big middle finger my families thanks the lady at flower for judgemental actions I thought we as people were past that in 2022 guess I was wrong and I get no one cares but I do my sons do and karma is horrible these days read more

I hate it when you open an account and then if you close it you take a credit hit. I have been a member of this bank over 15 years. The make mistakes every few years (a few years ago they were taking money out of my account and putting it in a totally different persons and got mad at me when I discovered it and asked that it be fixed!), they are very slow to respond to customer requests, and the few times i have to go to a branch it is inconvenient and usually a line. I recently asked for a new debit card through their own secure web site. Their response was what is your address? My response: the same one as when i opened this account. Their response: its a security check. What? They dont have my original address or they think someone has not only hacked into their secure site and and living at my house OR picking up my mail at my house. Not a really valid security system and just an ignorant way to run a credit union. Additionally their rates are not as competitive as others. Just wish they would make more of an effort to be more consumer friendly and make it easier to bank there. My recommendation would be to consider other options. read more

WHAT A NIGHTMARE, STAY FAR AWAY. No cash deposit at ATMs, drop boxes never have pens or deposit slips, the app crashes for a few days every time there is an android update. There are hardly any all point ATMs. They held my mobile deposit for SEVEN DAYS, they claim it tells you that in the app, well it does...in teeny tiny grey letters, its literally the smallest thing on the whole screen...and its 5 business days, so unless you get it in by Monday morning it will be the following week before it hits. Customer service was useless and rude. will be closing my account. UPDATE: checking account is now closed. But even closing it was a nightmare. Waited for almost an hour before anyone would even help me. Then they told me they would not release my mobile deposit that was on hold for 7 days to my savings account. Meaning I couldnt close the account for another week. But guess what....they had ALREADY CLOSED MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. So I was left for a week with no debit card while i waited for my new Chase card to get here. Chase customer service was stellar, they have far more features, none of the bs holds on deposits, higher atm limits, and they gave me 300 dollars just for setting up direct deposit. Will be going back to datcu to close my savings this weekend. God help me. read more

We recently purchased a travel trailer and they were able to help us out with no problem. They had a very competitive loan rate and called me to make sure everything was okay with my purchase. They later contacted me about doing a debt consolidation on my credit cards and they gave me a really good rate to get everything paid off. I haven't been a customer long but I have no complaints as to how they have handled things. read more

I have been banking with DATCU for over 30 years and have always loved them. That has certainly changed over the past couple of years. They have started the practice of "stealing" our monies! Charging over-draft fees by processing payments before deposits even if they are on the same day and you end with a positive account balance. "Addie at the "headquarters" should not be in customer service and is totally inept. She says they can only "waive" this fee (or theft) once per lifetime of the account. She then made sure to let me know that she was at the headquarters and no members were allowed in. REALLY??? 30 years of doing business and my account is positive at the end of the day you are still going to steal an over-draft fee and refuse to accommodate. Well, after 30 years I deserve better treatment than that. I will be closing all my accounts by weeks end. BEWARE!!!! They will steal from you what they can..... DISGUSTING!! And I'm not alone. Moved here from Chase thinking customer service would be better. I was wrong. Called DATCU, and I was told they could notarize my will. Took time off from work and went to DATCU in Flower Mound only to be told by their assistant branch manager that they do not have anyone that can witness the signing of the will. I called their main office in Denton, and I was told that an assistant banker would contact me in reference to my complaint. Never received a call. Ended up going to the local UPS store where they witnessed and notarized the will. The witnesses were able to help with my will while helping other customers with their mail/packages. I am fairly new customer, but so far have had nothing but excellent service. Even went through them for vehicle and renter's insurance, lowest rate I could find! Very nice people and so helpful! Not sure why bad reviews from others, maybe they fixed some things and in my opinion are doing great now. read more

If you're looking for a refi on a mortgage, you shouldn't choose these folks! They rarely return calls, drag their feet on processing, and can't seem to make decisions. Our appraisal came in a bit low, so we asked them to reconsider. It's been three weeks now, and crickets. You can leave messages if you like. Just don't expect them to get back with you. read more

would not reverse insufficient finds fee like large bank. they did not understand cost benefit analysis of my account , so i moved lots of money and closed my accounts. they then closed the wrong account and took my money. im filing complaint NCUA. when I asked if they were a bot, customer service manager Addie thought she got me and said to get my facts right. she didn't understand it was due to not being able to think logically and sticking to script and poor policies. lol so dumb. im sad i can't support my community but the incompetence is dumbfounding. read more
