Found this place on Yelp so my friend and I decided to go check it out since I was craving some boba. It's tucked away in a shopping mall so it can be pretty easy to miss. We walked in and I was instantly attracted to the fruit pebbles donut which, by the way, was probably the best donut I've ever had. I usually dislike donuts because they tend to be a little too sweet but this was the right amount. I liked the fact that I could mix and match between the classic and specialty donuts because it allows me to sample a few. I didn't get to try the other donuts but I'm sure my dad devoured them. The bubble milk tea was actually really good as well and they didn't skimp on the boba. The only negative think I have to say is that the person who was at the register must've been grouchy because he was very short with us almost snappy and never made eye contact. Then he must've forgot about my order because I noticed everyone else who had ordered after me was picking up their stuff but mine wasn't ready. When I finally walked up to ask if my order was ready he looked surprised and must've realized I ordered a tea so he told me it'd be another few minutes. I believe this particular building has always been a doughnut shop, but since the new owners came in, the quality of pastries has definitely increased. I purchase doughnuts from Date's once a week and the quality of their food is consistent. All of their eats are delicious, but I especially like the fact that they get creative with their cuisine. It is not rare to see doughnuts with crumbled cookies or Fruity Pebbles on top. The real icing on the cake is the service. The owners are super kind and always greet their costumers with a smile. I live around the corner and come here all the time. Awesome place with lot of creativity. I've never had an issue, until today. Jelly filled donuts are suppose to have more then 2 bits of filling? That's about the amount of jelly in their jellied filled donuts. The boba drinks are normally very good, but today they took well over 10 minutes to make and when I got the drinks, it looked like they were just thrown together with power still at the bottom. Boba was fresh and still hot, melting all the ice. Not a good drink if it's not cold. A new recipe for Apple Fritters is in order too. They look like monkey or pull apart bread. Very dry and over cooked. The best apple fritters are in Reedley. I ordered 8 donuts, 4 were jelly filled, while 2 were bars and 2 were twists. This was my first and won't be my last visit to Date's Donuts. They have the most friendly and helpful staff, made up the 'sweetest' Happy Birthday box for my mom's 94th bday on National Donut Day. Great selection on donuts and croissants and an impressive drink and smoothie selection...I love that they have Boba! I was just a little bummed that they ran out of Cotton Candy smoothies, guess I need to get here before 10 am next time. This business Rivals any 'gourmet' donut cafe in the larger, ritzier cities like La Jolla or Santa Monica.
