I have a pair of Lowa boots that needed resoling. Lowa suspended their service of resoling in Germany. They contacted me to let me know that Daub's was now a Lowa factory trained repair shop. I reached out on a Sunday and received a quote almost immediately, with instructions on how to ship the boots. I used Daubs recently for some boot repairs, so when I bought a new pair of boots yesterday and wanted to dye them, I was near Daubs, so I went to see Jim about doing this for me. When we discussed doing this and the unknown of dying leather, Jim thought the cost to do so would be rater high, so he offered me a simple solution. he sold me an $8.00 bottle of leather dye. When I got home I watched a few videos of dying boots and felt comfortable doing so. When I woke up this morning and saw the boots, I was amazed at how good they look. I will say this, as long as we live in this area, we WILL be Daub's customers, as Jim's knowledge and the way he treats customers is such a throw back to the old days. read more

Went in looking for a local reliable boot store told him the boots that I was trying on were a bit small informed me not to worry because he would use a boot stretcher and the breaking in wouldn't be bad wrongly assuming he stood behind his product I took his word at face value and a handshake. Daub's Cobbler Shop took my super old (but forever my favorite) pair of boots and gave them some TLC treatment. I have actual tread on the bottom of them now, and they got cleaned/re-laced, etc. It took them less than a week (I received a text-alert that they were done and ready to picked up whenever) and they did it at a super reasonable price. If anyone has shoes (bags, etc.) that need fixing or sprucing, I definitely recommend going here! For me, it was a really great first experience, and I'll be sure to be back if I need any other shoes (that I love enough to get repaired) done here. read more

I was able to bring my work belt in and get a new hole made. My job was working me ragged. I was losing weight! The job was done free. What service! I was told I would not be provided gratis service if I needed a hole made for the opposite problem. This is motivation to this day to limit my doughnut consumption to only two a day--although I still make Homer Simpson-like noises. read more

Trying to find a Cobbler these days is very hard. I had a pair of leather boots I bought from LL Bean in 1976--43 years ago. The boots have their own story which they carry to this day in the form of a repair to the inside of the left boot from trying to make a rescue fire after our jeep broke down and we were stranded in the Maasai Mara in Kenya. Now 43 years later after multiple times of considering to either toss them or put them on a mantle piece after being told by another Cobbler [no longer in business] they were hopeless. So they languished from my negligence. Fate intervened with an upcoming trip to South Africa and safari. Still believing they were a lost cause I took them Daub's...Jim and Nathan breathed new life and tread into them...and they did it in TWO DAYS. Unbelievable. I had low to no expectations or hope. They were very friendly and clearly knowledgeable when they went over every inch of them with me. DAUBS IS NOW LA BELLES, HAVING BEEN SOLD. THIS REVIEW IS OF THE SHOP NOW. I have had a pair of Frye boots for over 30 years and love them, but they needed to be stretched. My husband, who had lost his job, drove almost an hour to go to LaBelles and have them stretched as much as they could be. I wear them with various socks and I have arthritis in one toe making some shoes uncomfortable. The man refused to stretch them when he got there saying he would do it if my husband went back and brought me in. He said the soles MIGHT crack and have to be replaced. My husband explained how far away we lived and that that was not possible, and that WE would assume all responsibility, and that IF and when the soles needed repair or replacing, we would cross that bridge when we came to it. The man still refused unless I was there. The boots could only be stretched a finite amount which we knew, and that was fine with us and would have given me the room to comfortably wear them again with socks and my dodgy toe, but this owner stubbornly refused. My husband took the boots and drove the hour back home. We decided then to DIY stretch them. We soaked them in warm water, completely immersed for over an hour. He then jammed whole tennis balls, and some he cut in half into the boot, and then cut a piece of wood, wrapped it in a washcloth and fitted that tightly from the last tennis ball to the back of each boot. We left them for a couple days to dry out, periodically rubbing them with some cocoa butter hand cream we had. The boots are now stretched and perfect. We would never, ever patronize this shop. The NEW owner is a pig-headed scrooge, unwilling to have a little common sense and he obviously doesn't care about losing customers. WE WOULD NEVER GO TO THIS SHOP AGAIN. read more

Love this place. Did a wonderful job on my leather boot that needed a zipper. Been to 2 places who "fixed" it but it was never really fixed until this place explained what they did and now it is perfect an have no issues. He even gave me tips on doing maintenance on my metal zippers including the expensive pocket books that have zippers that like to stick so I bought a stick of the special wax and now they zip like my cheap pocket books do which is perfect lol. I highly recommend this place and he is a really nice guy as well very personable. read more

Had the insoles replaced on an old, but still serviceable pair of leather shoes here. Jim did a quality job, quickly, and at a fair price. He had other leather products in his shop for repairs, and also sells new boots and shoes. what a jerk We had a repair to seats which we had quoted and documented through email. It was requested in writing that it not go over the quote. When we went to pick up the repair he tried to charge over thirty percent more than the written quote. The law is no more than plus 10% of a written quote.Then he had the audacity to try and belittle us in public because we refused to be hustled. I would not recommend this man to anyone, go elsewhere even if you have to drive an hour. read more

I brought two pair of my wife's dress boots into Daub's; they needed heel and toe work. The place is fantastic. There's the smell of leather and polish, and a lovely sitting area featuring a few American made shoe brands for sale; and then there's the workshop out back. The shop has benches, tools, 6 or 8 polishing stations, and serious sewing equipment. He's got bags, belts, purses, jackets...and shoes galore lined up to be repaired. When I picked up my wife's boots (which he did remarkably fast), the heels and toes looked new. He did an excellent job restoring the boots, and without a doubt I'll be returning to this cobbler. He's the real deal, and very good at it. I only wish this artisan had set up shop in my home town of Meredith. read more
