Since January 9th, 2023 we came back from Christmas Break this has been an ongoing situation,…read morewithout mentioning all the previous times... My responsibility as a parent will always always come first. I am and will be my child's advocate always. My child, rides the bus daily for a couple of years now... With that being said, I am the parent that is constantly calling Transportation and the school. With all valid reasons. I have no idea who should be held accountable for numerous faults here. Each agency keeps brushing off and blaming the "other" agency. As of right now, the bus has been late various of times since this school year. This doesn't mean that I am not aware on how the world is currently. I know and I understand school staff are under paid, understaffed and overworked. I totally get that. I feel the pain. I understand that staff members are also human beings that have a right to their sick days, vacations, emergencies etc... But, when something's happened frequently it's an on going situation or behavior. That's not ok. Each time a child is at that bus stop waiting for a late and in most cases extremely late bus it opens the door for a lot of things to happen. They are in the dark, under rain, in the cold, or even heat. It's a very busy street, which we can't control drivers, we can't control students immature actions while waiting for the bus. We can't obligate parents to wait and watch their child get on the bus for numerous of reasons. Some students just simply walk away and can you blame them? Bus is late... the child is already stressed, walks in the school, maybe has no breakfast doesn't want to mention it or ask, decides to look over to the cafeteria and it's closed. The question is why? Why hold that child accountable? Why? How do we know what that child goes through at home? How do we know that's the only food that child will have? On top they have to awkwardly walk into a late class causing them aniexty, stress etc... Pinellas County School Board Transportation pays for this "app" which is not always working properly to inform students and parents if the bus will be late and for how much... Testing days? They are stressed on testing days just because it's testing day! Imagine when a bus is late how does that make them feel? Walks in late, to find a seat, have everyone looking at you, the teacher will feel a type of way because they're interrupting other students on top of what that teacher is going through personally. (We are all humans!) On top those emotions will sadly influence a child's scores on top of whatever they go through at home, school, friends, peers etc... Those scores are used to grade a school? Evaluated a teacher? Ask if the curriculum is "working" and put a child in a box of grades, level and GPA. Where is 100% Success in this? Where is Pinellas county vision and mission here? It all looks very nice on paper, boards etc... When do we really put it into perspective? When is our goal more realistic? Not every parent has the ability to drive their child to school, not every parent has the income to send their child to private school, specially those of us who live on a Pinellas county school board paycheck. At times it makes me think how instead of helping we are part of the problem and setting these students up for failure. It's not about picking our battles. Some battles need to be fought to wave the pavement for other. For our students, our children, they are the ones who will be running the world when we are in an elderly age. It's sad that we aren't giving them the proper tools. We are setting ourselves for failure also. Please take these words into consideration in the next staff meeting, in the next school board meeting. Also take in consideration that not all Parents are aware on how important school is, education and even their child's rights.

We took this looper on our first day in St. Petersburg just to get a feel for everything we should…read moredo and to get perhaps some recommendations. Our Driver was Gilvin and he was tremendous, hospitable, and amazingly informative. An entire loop is about 20 minutes. Although it is free, it is recommended that each person that takes advantage of this free service leaves a gratuity of $5 to $10 per person. In this day and age, the drivers or tour guides can't live off of thank you's and pleasantries. We considered the Looper more of a guided tour than just a simple transportation from A to point B. We learned a lot of cool things about the buildings that we passed and the history of St. Petersburg. Very entertaining and strongly recommended for anyone visiting St. Petersburg on their first day. A++

Free transportation in downtown St. Petersburg - you can't beat it! After parking our car,…read morevisiting a museum, and then sloshing through pouring rain to our lunch restaurant in St. Pete, we just did not have it in us to trudge in the pouring rain all the way back to our car. Fortunately, my friend had heard of the free Downtown Looper, and a stop for the Looper was right across the street from our restaurant. The Looper has about 20 stops all around St. Pete, including USF St. Pete, Bayfront Health, and All Children's Hospital. The Looper's cycle runs about every 20 minutes or so per stop. I think we waited about 10 minutes. TIP: Since our stop shared the space with the regular bus service, the yellow trolley almost zoomed by us since we didn't know to flag it down. Luckily, it did stop once it saw we needed it. So - when you see the bright yellow trolley - put your hand up. The trolley was clean and well kept, and the trolley driver was very friendly and personable. Make sure you have a couple of dollars to tip, since you are riding for free. Easy and effortless, this a great service that PTSA provides.
