We took this looper on our first day in St. Petersburg just to get a feel for everything we should…read moredo and to get perhaps some recommendations. Our Driver was Gilvin and he was tremendous, hospitable, and amazingly informative. An entire loop is about 20 minutes. Although it is free, it is recommended that each person that takes advantage of this free service leaves a gratuity of $5 to $10 per person. In this day and age, the drivers or tour guides can't live off of thank you's and pleasantries. We considered the Looper more of a guided tour than just a simple transportation from A to point B. We learned a lot of cool things about the buildings that we passed and the history of St. Petersburg. Very entertaining and strongly recommended for anyone visiting St. Petersburg on their first day. A++

After parking our car,…read morevisiting a museum, and then sloshing through pouring rain to our lunch restaurant in St. Pete, we just did not have it in us to trudge in the pouring rain all the way back to our car. Fortunately, my friend had heard of the free Downtown Looper, and a stop for the Looper was right across the street from our restaurant. The Looper has about 20 stops all around St. Pete, including USF St. Pete, Bayfront Health, and All Children's Hospital. The Looper's cycle runs about every 20 minutes or so per stop. I think we waited about 10 minutes. TIP: Since our stop shared the space with the regular bus service, the yellow trolley almost zoomed by us since we didn't know to flag it down. Luckily, it did stop once it saw we needed it. So - when you see the bright yellow trolley - put your hand up. The trolley was clean and well kept, and the trolley driver was very friendly and personable. Make sure you have a couple of dollars to tip, since you are riding for free. Easy and effortless, this a great service that PTSA provides.

Here's some things to help you out…read more https://www.tecolinestreetcar.org/assets/maps/Streetcar_Map.pdf This is a map with all 11 stops for the TECO Streetcar. Useful for navigating and determining the stops you want to get on/off at. https://www.tecolinestreetcar.org/livemap.html This is a quick link to live map of actual locations of both southbound (going Downtown) and northbound (traveling to Ybor) cars - useful for getting a good idea of how much time you'll have to get or wait at the station. ----- As mentioned by others, the TECO Line Streetcar is completely free (no fare/fee to utilize). With that being said, if you ever want to skip the hassle of driving back and forth between the Downtown and Ybor districts, this is the way to do it. It's definitely a great mode of public transportation around the aforementioned districts. Complimenting the mode of transportation, the Streetcar system also offers a very fun/entertaining way to get around. It can definitely be fascinating to be able to ride earlier technology that existed prior to modern day mobiles. The streetcars travels probably no more than 30mph at any given time - slowing down and speeding up between to adjust the other local traffic patterns and conditions. So with that being said, if you're looking at travelling the entire length (between Stop 1 and 11), I would safely dedicate 45 minutes for that trip. We never had to wait long at any stop before getting on (plus you have a link above to help you manage the time a bit better). Route-wise, you will be able to see and access the neater areas of Downtown Tampa and the Ybor District. The stops/stations are rather well thought, designed and planned. All stations offers an ADA-accessible ramp. Yes, sometimes the cars get packed, but that's with any public transportation system - definitely something to consider when it comes to understanding the local events happening in town and how that would potentially impact the line. We have ridden the TECO Streetcar Line about a dozen times at this point, and have always enjoyed the relaxing ride! Definitely recommend this experience if you're in town!
