I had a front door with several problems. The handle and deadbolt needed to be replaced and the door was sticking because the house had settled over many years. It was clear that Dave has had a lot of experience with doors. He knew exactly where it was sticking and how to adjust it. The door handle replacement wasn't straight forward because it's a 40 yr old door that doesn't fit today's standard door handles. He had to drill a larger hole for the handle and another hole on the edge of the door for the deadbolt to slide through. He was well prepared with an impressive set of tools. I hired David Gallegos through yelp for miscellaneous projects at my home. David was very responsive on yelp and later text message. We set a date and he showed up on time. The work he completed was professional. However, he stated he did not have time to finish the final two projects and he would return at a later date. I know it is hard to run a small business so I paid David in full anyway, trusting his character that he would return. David cashed the check shortly after. Later via text message David mentioned he would be a few weeks out because he is working on another large remodel. Later on, David stopped responding to text messages once that time had elapsed. Most troubling, he is active on Yelp and responded promptly to a friend who also required handyman services - he is actively ignoring my attempts to contact. All told, I paid David in full for projects he did not complete, and he is actively and knowingly shutting out contact. It's really unfortunate how any contractor would take advantage of a new homeowner like this. Please be wary. So I came back and wrote, well that's a bid but what's your proposal? What do you propose to do for that $2500? To which he agreed perhaps he should see the site. And I agreed and told him that my week was free, just name a date for the visit. He never responded to that after more than a week had passed by. Dave might be the best thing since sliced bread for fixing floor problems, but he's totally missing proper project management skills.
