Dave's came through in a big way when we needed new tires for our horse trailer at the very last minute. Obviously most people don't plan to be scrambling at 4:20 pm on a Friday to get this sort of thing taken care of before trailering their horse almost 500 miles the next day. They stayed late to help us and even offered to go pick up the tires that we found since they did not stock the tires themselves. What a relief to have that unexpected emergency dealt with so nicely! read more

My van broke down about 20 miles outside of Iron mountain, on a family vacation. Found out my transmission was completely cooked. I'm from Chicago, which is something like 5 hours away, there's nothing better than trusting some mechanic in some strange town to not screw you over. Oh what fun. I asked around (tow truck driver, car rental place) and Dave's seemed reputable. Got the van towed to Dave's. Dave's shop is clean, the place is orderly and well taken care of, the staff is competent and friendly. I was able to arrange alternative transportation so I talked to the transmission guy, told him getting it done economically and done well was more important for me than speed. In a couple of weeks he found a used transmission that wasn't ridiculously expensive. They fixed the whole thing up... then they saw my air compressor was bad too. They found me an economical replacement for that as well. So now we were just about to finagle a deal where a couple of our friends from Chicago would swing back up to Iron Mountain to pick up the van, when suddenly Dave called me from his cell phone and said he could get it to Milwaukee for $125.00. I said that sounds superb! So Dave dropped our van off at the Milwaukee Auto Auction for a buck and a quarter, and then all it took was a 1 1/2 hour trip to Milwaukee instead of a 10+ hour round trip. I had a ball joint fail in my pickup, the brake seized and overheated. Towed into Dave's on a Tuesday, they had it fixed and me back on the road by Thursday afternoon. Friendly courteous service. They kept me apprised of the state of diagnosis and repairs. I thought the cost was more than reasonable given the extent of the damage. read more

Good service! I'm from the Boston area on a US motorhome tour. My AC in my Ford motorhome truck wasn't working properly and we were scheduled to stay in Iron Mountain for a few days. The local Ford dealer wouldn't look at the truck saying it was too big. Personally I felt this excuse was crap. Ford should do better. In any case, I stopped at Dave's Auto. They told me they could do the job in their parking lot and we set up an appointment. They looked it over and determined it needed a new limiter. Couldn't find one that could be delivered same day. They went to a junk yard and found the part with my permission. The AC is now running great. Thanks for taking that extra step to find the part. Total bill was under $200 and seemed reasonable. Hands down the most honest shop I have ever been too! I am from out of town (Chicago area) needless to say i am not fond of auto repair shops in general. Daves auto however was different. I was able to speak directly to the technicians about my brake issues. I'm not use to this, it was nice to speak with them directly. I was also not expecting my issue to be resolved with a set of pads and rotors. They did NOT try and sell me anything I didn't need. Again I am not use to this service, and coming from out of town to this was nice for a change. I will be getting my car fixed there again well worth the 5 hour ride to spend 1/4 of the amount I would have spent elsewhere (other shops have sold me calipers on all 4 sides that I did not need in the past...) Daves cleaned the slides and assured me new calipers were unnecessary because of how good the "slides" were moving. Best shop I have been at and very nice people too. read more
