But, three return visits were required to properly adjust the door and eliminate noise during operation. More concerning, the crew left an unsealed gap on the exterior door frame -- an opening that allows rainwater to penetrate and risks causing damage such as dry rot. When I raised this issue and suggested caulking as a straightforward fix, the technician's response was simply, "we don't caulk." The manager's response was just as adamant. As a result, I was left with an incomplete job and had to hire a separate contractor to seal the gap at my own expense at a cost of $300. Salem Garage Door's crew was otherwise professional and persistent in addressing the noise issue, and the door itself functions well -- but a finishing detail this important to weatherproofing should not fall outside the scope of their work, particularly since the crew created the gap. Had the job been completed properly, this would have been a five-star review.
