I had a garage door start making banging noises when I lowered it. Called another garage door company, D&L. They rendered the door inoperable and charged me just under $400 for the service call. They said they'd could finish the job for $800. Dan from Salem Garage Door came out and had the door opening and closing smoothly in about a half hour, and charged $115. 6/1/2026 -- On February 11, 2026, Salem Garage Door installed a beautiful garage door with four glass panels at the top. But, three return visits were required to properly adjust the door and eliminate noise during operation. More concerning, the crew left an unsealed gap on the exterior door frame -- an opening that allows rainwater to penetrate and risks causing damage such as dry rot. When I raised this issue and suggested caulking as a straightforward fix, the technician's response was simply, "we don't caulk." The manager's response was just as adamant. As a result, I was left with an incomplete job and had to hire a separate contractor to seal the gap at my own expense at a cost of $300. Salem Garage Door's crew was otherwise professional and persistent in addressing the noise issue, and the door itself functions well -- but a finishing detail this important to weatherproofing should not fall outside the scope of their work, particularly since the crew created the gap. Had the job been completed properly, this would have been a five-star review. read more

They never showed up for the appointment nor did they let me know they weren't going to show up. They didn't call me back multiple times when they said they were going to. The appointment got rescheduled for the next day but they didn't know what time--expecting me to skip another day of work and wait around for them. I ended up cancelling the rescheduled appointment but one of their techs still called to say he was on his way. By that time I had already called a competitor, scheduled an appointment, and had my garage door opener replaced. Salem Garage Door may be garage door specialists, but they're terrible schedulers. read more

If I could give them 6 stars I would. They showed up on time and, I am compulsive about making appointment times... very nice guy doing the install and when finished it looked amazing and operates exactly the way a new door should. I had an issue with the top panel windows that was obviously our fault and called the next day to see about changing them. The office manager was a sweetheart and scheduled a swap for the panels we needed...and scheduled faster than I would have imagined. This is what good customer service in America is all about! Have had two issues with our 25 year old, 8'x16' oversized garage door in the last six months. Both times Salem Garage Door did a fantastic job in fixing it. Today was super-extraordinary service. At 9:30 AM, I heard a metallic sounding, mini-explosion sound. The garage door spring has snapped. I was unable to lift the door. Called Salem Garage Door and explained that we had a car trapped inside our garage due to the busted spring. Fixed by 12:30 AM, at a very fair price. The last repair was the worn out 25 year old rollers. They too were fixed totally and quickly, and again at a very fair price. Steve their service tech who has responded to both calls, is wonderful. Quick and thorough. Where there were repair options on the earlier roller repair, such as two different quality (residential and commercial) track rollers, he gave me pricing on both -- and amazing to me, had both options in his service truck. No upsale pressure at all. These are really good folks who take care of their customers! read more

Beware! I ordered several "roll up doors" from this company and paid a $2000 deposit. They then made standard garage doors, not "roll up doors" as I ordered. And are now not reimbursing me or making the "roll up doors" I ordered. This is truly unbelievable. No integrity at all to own their mistake. read more

Absolute RIP-OFF!! I needed a new spring on my garage door because one of the two springs was broken. They charged nearly $300, took them nearly a week for the appointment, they were late for the appointment. Once the repairman arrived he hurried through the installation, and in less than 15 minutes he tried to leave. I mentioned that the door was not balanced, so he came back and balanced the door. Then I mentioned that on the work order it said he would adjust up and down pressures; the down pressure was set way to high (which could have killed my dog if the other sensors did not work) so he begrudgingly adjusted the pressure. He never did check the door for level. BIGGER RIP OFF - After the repairman left I noticed that one end of the door showed about a half inch gap that let light in and could let in wind and rain when the winter storms start. I decided I should replace the bottom seal. I could not find the correct seal at Lowes or Home Depot so I went to Salem Garage Door for the seal, they charged me $88.00 for a 16 foot piece of seal (not installed by them) I later looked on line for the seal and found the same seal for $18.65 BEWARE OF DEALING WITH THEM !! read more

I was happily a repeat customer of Salem Garage Door. But that was then. There are new owners as of Fall 2019 and it shows. It took 3 phone calls from me to get the correct estimate. No one called to confirm the appointment as stated and no one called me back when I left msgs wondering if my doors came in and the apt was a go or not. They show up to install (#1) only to put the pieces of doors in my garage and leave. No one in the office knew anything and no one called me back as stated. I left multiple messages with different people. They were happy to blame it all on the office gal who was out with the flu. When they did unexpectedly reshow to install (#2) they were not aware of the scope of work that included replacing the rotted trim so they did not have the correct materials to do the job. Reschedule #3 happens. Doors installed, construction is done satisfactorily. But that's the last time I am a customer of Salem Garage Door. I won't get back the week of trying to deal with these guys. Life's too short and there are other garage door sellers and installers. read more

I live in Torrance CA, but was helping my sister install a door opener in Pedee, OR. I needed an adaptor (a mount for a Wayne Dalton door), that the manufacture wanted $15.00 plus shipping. I did not have time to wait for this piece, so I searched for it and found it at Salem Garage Door Specialties. I expected to pay $20 to $40, but was charged only $7.
