The space is expertly laid out with a fantastic selection of Australian natural wines and plenty of beers and spirits. I also was surprised to find some non alcoholic spirits, something I had never tried, and something the friend I was staying with who is pregnant was very excited to try and find. The shop also has a lovely selection of local ceramic pieces, one of which I brought home as a souvenir of my time in Sydney! Yeah, this place is owned by the big conglomerates but show me a person that doesn't like cheap booze and I'll show you someone who doesn't drink. The wines are a few bucks cheaper than other chains, meaning you can pick yoself up a schweet little cleanskin on top of the rest of your haul. We found some of what we were looking for... my only complaint would be that they stock FAR too much French wine (I know it has the reputation, but is difficult to deal with unless you are an expert, and is generally overpriced for what you get. We would have preferred a greater variety of Australian wines... we were particularly looking for some standouts from Wirra Wirra in McLaren Vale: Woodhenge Shiraz and The Absconder grenache) They were also out of affordable sparkling shiraz (which he had hoped to have for NYE), and it was explained that it was due to selling out at Christmas.
