This tour was a hit with Robin Oliver as our guide! Robin make The Rocks come alive with her in-depth knowledge of not only her country's history but she understood how other country's actions played into the development of Sydney. She is an exceptional tour guide who has the ability to make the past come alive in our minds as well as having a twinkle in her eye and a ready laugh. We've taken a few pub tours during our travels and this one was terrific! Plenty of history and visits to four very cool old pubs. Adam was very knowledgeable about The Rocks history and showed us the archeological dig there. Highly recommend! Beer good too! read more

We had a great time on this pub tour. Our guide Gregg (aka Dave) was very knowledgeable and entertaining. His enthusiasm with the stories he shared about the pubs and the history of Sydney throughout our walks along the way were great! We chose the 6:30 tour - which had an added benefit of starting the walk when still light and ended after dark which gave you a night time perspective of pub hopping. Dave (Greg) was an awesome tour guide! I found the brochure at the Aussie hotel the night before and was excited to book a pub crawl in Sydney. Upon arriving, Greg greeted me with a brief description of the beers at the first pub as well as an intro on the history of the Rocks areas. Each pub on the tour had a unique history and experience. I learned so much about the city and had a variety of beers that are only found in Australia. Greg answered all of my questions about the Rocks area as well as gave me helpful tips on how to have a "Barbie on the beach" on my walk from Coogee to Bondi tomorrow. Having been to Sydney several times, we were looking for a tour that would be both insightful, fun, sincere and off the beaten path. We have done tours with such aim before, from Sydney to London. Not only was Dave's tour an amazing insight into - in our case - Balmain, but Gregg was a fabulous tour guide, partner, insightful Sydneysider that we would come back to tour with anywhere, anytime. While some pub tours (or tours in general) can be dry or formulaic, Gregg's style lends itself to an incredibly fun afternoon that makes you truly part of the afternoon, not just a spectator. Clearly able to adapt to his clientele, he was a joy to be with, learn from, and convinced us to do Dave's Tours again in a heartbeat when we return to Sydney! read more

Greg was a great tour guide, the tour itself was informative and fun. BUT we were planning to go to the 930 dinner option since we couldn't make dinner before before, and that night in the Rocks all of the bars, especially the Australian, were all incredibly crowded, and the restaurant who was supposed to give us dinner wouldn't serve us. I wish Dave's was better prepared for this situation or would have given us money/credit back since they knew the likelihood of us getting dinner was slim. We probably wouldn't have spent this much on the bar tour alone without dinner, and now knowing dinner won't be guaranteed wouldn't recommend for the price. read more

Visiting Sydney for the first time, my girlfriend and I decided a pub walking tour would be a fun way to explore the Rocks near Circular Quay. Dave's Pub Walks was a great choice! When it turned out that our scheduled session only had the two of us booked for that afternoon's tour, rather than canceling on us, our tour guide Gregg, not Dave (funny story you can ask Gregg about), was amazing and essentially gave us a private tour. We had some great beers and learned a bunch of interesting history and facts about Sydney and the Australian culture. The whole tour was about 2.5 hours with a good amount of walking but plenty of stops to enjoy the city and pubs. The whole experience was a lot of fun and I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Sydney. read more

First thing I need to say is that we went through a travel agency and we were told that it was a walking city tour. Only after we arrived at our hotel, did we find out it was a pub tour. With that said, this was one of the best tours of our whole trip. Besides getting a tour and taste of some of the local beverages, we got a lot of interesting history about the Rocks. Beverages included whatever was on tap, wine, and soda for the non drinkers. Your guide will most likely not be named Dave but will answer to it. This was a great adventure and if you would like a nice beverage or two with your tour of the Rocks, this is the tour for you. read more

My boyfriend and I had a great time on this pub crawl! Greg, our Dave, was fun to hang out with. From the time we met him at the first pub, it felt like we were hanging out with a friend who was super knowledgeable about the history of The Rocks. The beers were great, too. Again, Greg knew a lot about the beers available at each pub. We liked the pubs Greg took us to so much that we actually kept going back to them during our time in Sydney. If you aren't into the "atmosphere" of the ghost tours, but you love beer and want to walk around and learn about The Rocks, this tour is perfect. We had a great night out! read more

We took the Rocks Tour. It's an enjoyable tour with some entertaining historical perspectives and some tasty beers.

We did the Blue Mountain tour with Sam. Lovely chap with lots of energy. Very enthusiastic about what he does. Looks like a tall, blonde and tan Australian version of Robert Pattinson (ha!). Colorful Trips or Dave's Tours (same company) was absolutely incredible when an emergency came up and we needed to be rebooked twice, inside the 48 hr cancellation window. They did everything to accommodate us and make sure we were taken care of. Just a heads up - if you're meeting at the St Lawrence downtown Sydney location, there is no parking for your rental car. I would suggest calling and finding the closest pick up location to where you are staying, then Uber to it. Also, they only drop off at the one location in downtown Sydney, so you will also need to Uber from there, unless you're staying downtown. Overall, had a great day. Loved feeding the kangaroos (you can buy a cup of food for $3AUD). And loved taking a picture with a koala ($25AUD). Thanks Sam! read more

Where to begin??? I am pretty finicky whenever I book a tour for my travel guests so often there are several emails to the operator ahead of time, making sure the experience will be something my VIPs will enjoy. The service and level of responsiveness to questions was spot on from start to finish. The tour itself was one of the best experiences for a walking tour we've had! Gaz was so knowledgeable, outgoing and fun, the 2-1/2 hours flew by. I definitely recommend doing the upgrade and having lunch at the Australian Heritage Hotel ahead of time, it's a nice way to unwind and get to know your guide beforehand, along with gives you the opportunity to try some unique pizza types before getting a history lesson and your drink on. Learning so much about the city, seeing the old architecture, ruins of buildings from the earliest settlements and finding out (or not) exactly which pub is the oldest, kept us laughing and interested until the last moments. Plus, having access to some areas that the public never gets to see made it that much more intriguing. All around a wonderful tour, great history lesson and a nice tasting of beers representing some of who and what helped make the city what it is today. read more
