I'm leaving this review for the outstanding customer service I received. I called for a pickup at Hampton Inn Evansville to the airport. Ride was on time (early, actually), and the 20 minute ride was spent in friendly conversation, fare was approx $24 not including tip. The five stars come from the wonderful, personalized and thoughtful assistance by Terry (?) on the phone. After arriving at the airport, I realized that my (expensive, noise-canceling) headphones and case must have fallen out of my bag in the cab. I called back as soon as I noticed (about 30 minutes after I'd been dropped off), and she said she would call the driver and check for me. When I called back about ten minutes later (I had an international number and couldn't leave my own), she said the driver had already ended his shift and was no longer able to check the vehicle. She had me leave a forwarding address and asked when my flight was leaving, then said she would swing by the car at the end of her workday to check. An hour later, while I was at the airport cafe waiting to go through the security gate, I was approached by Terry, who recognized my voice and asked my name and HAND DELIVERED my headphones. I was so floored, I absolutely had to write a review. She singlehandedly saved my sanity during my upcoming 13 hour flight to Japan. Thank you!!! read more

The story is too involved to tell with the correct amount of anger and disrespect needed but...1. This experience involves Dave and only Dave. I've had great experiences with Robert and Lisa. #2. I called needing a ride within the hour and was told they would contact Dave and see if he could do it. They said they'd call me and let me know. 10 minutes later Dave calls yelling and cussing "are you ready? You better be outside cause I'm here" (it is impossible to express the anger and stress Dave exudes. He is a man about to implode and explode at the same time.) I looked out my front door just as Dave comes flying around the corner and pulls in to my parking lot. I give him the I'll be right there sign and run to get my shoes. About 2 minutes have passed and as I'm trying to lock my door I can hear him cussing me. I'm 65 and disabled. "G D it lady come on! I'm putting it mildly. I get to the van and he's still cussing me about waiting so late to call. In the past he's cussed me for calling too soon so.... At this point I'm just tired of him cussing me and I'm an F-bomb thrower myself! I actually told him I was tired of his mouth. That's when he kicked me out of his dirty banged up passenger van and told me to call somebody else and never call them again. I've used many Taxi services, Uber, etc over the years. Dave's Taxi is at the top of my list. Here's the most important thing you should know: he's a man of his word and he's dependable! That is almost unheard of in todays world. He has picked me up and dropped me off several times now - all late at night or very early in the morning - going to and from the airport. I will not be using Dave's Taxi ever again! I had them pick me up from the airport and the driver didn't even get out to help me with my bags he just sat in the van. The van door was very hard to open and close and it was extremely dirty! You could literally see the dirt build up on the inside van handle! They had the cloth roof held up by push pins, the driver smelled like BO, and when he dropped me off at my house and I handed him my credit card he was upset because it took more time for him to write a receipt and process it. Also he crossed the center line twice because he was trying to answer a call and wasn't watching the road. Worst experience ever! I felt like I needed to bathe in disinfectant after I got out. I would rather walk than get a ride from them ever again! read more

I want to apologize for being so bold as to try and hire a taxi from Dave's taxi service. I didn't realize what an inconvenience this would be for him when I called. I had never used a taxi before in Evansville, but needed one for a business associate flying in from the Middle East in the middle of the night. The flight number I had was under a different number than the AA number listed (as it was set up on contract per an international airline). Dave yelled at me like I was an idiot when I didn't understand this at first. Then hung up. I called back and was fortunate enough to talk to a woman who at least took some time to help. She set it up and recommended I call back closer to the date to confirm the flights lined up. When I did, Dave answered again and yelled at me for calling back and told me "it's not that complicated". I will say, they did get the person to the hotel from the airport with no trouble. I did call back to arrange the return trip and to make sure they emailed the receipt from the first trip to the passenger (for expense reimbursement) . Again, yelled at for asking any questions. Will not use again. The need for Taxi services has diminished significantly since Uber and Lyft were invented, so I'm shocked that a taxi company can be so rude. I just wanted to make sure this international traveler was taken care of and I was belittled and insulted. I will never inconvenience Dave again. read more

Owner is rude and has some anger management issues. Our company hired Dave the owner directly to transport our client. When we call him for rates or confirmation of pick up, he curses at our employees and acts like we are harassing him for ensuring our clients (that we pay for) are picked up. He truly has some sort of issue because he can go from extremely nice and professional to off the walls crazy in a matter of seconds. Makes me wonder how safe our clients were. We will no longer do business with this company and want to make sure others know what happens after the first call where he promises excellent service. read more

A sincere suggestion for you, my friend, never ever do business with such a non-honest company, or you have to take the pain later. Here was my story. I booked a taxi to the EVV airport in advance from this company, just because I easily trusted the not-too-bad reviews. Before the day I flew, I called them again to confirm my reservation. Till that time, all looked fine, except when the agent picked up the phone, she seemed to be not well-prepared, just like looking for a pen from a mass of file folders and taking the message on a piece of tatter. Fine, this didn't hurt too much. What was critically horrible was that the cab never showed up before my flight! I waited for the never-coming cab, 15 min late, 30 min late, a hour late. My heart was buning in disppointment and anger, more and more. I called this company over and over again, tried to find out where my taxi was. Guess what? Nobody answered the phone expect automatic reply! I didn't want to hear your advertisement and leave you a message, I want a taxi as I booked! Finally, I had to call for another local taxi emergently to catch up with my flight. My friend, you need a taxi to go where you want, to do what you need , to enjoy your life, to meet the person you love, but never ever to put yourself in anger or embarrassment. I called this company to pick up my little brother from the airport and they were a little rude. The gentleman answering the phone spoke to me as if I were a child and I was bothering him. He didn't give me any information about the services provided or any pricing as if they had a proper website with this information. This is a bit tardy (Sorry, Dave!). I had a multi-leg flight with a narrow layover which initiated in Owensboro, KY, heading to Nashville. At boarding time, we were told there was a problem with the aircraft and that we had the option to travel to Nashville by van - easily a two-hour trip. Panic set in. Two hours by van versus an hour by plane would make my connecting flight extremely challenging. The kicker? The van was coming from Evansville, IN - easily 45 minutes away! I had considerable doubt with each passing minute that the van would appear quickly enough to even dream about making it to Nashville in time. Well, Dave (himself) ultimately pulled up and we were gone in a flash. Aware of the tight timeline, Dave adeptly "flew" us to Nashville in his van! He was personable, professional, and a darn good driver. If I EVER need a taxi again in/around Evansville - or the entire Ohio River valley - Dave's my man! I forgot how pricey a cab ride can be! In the new age of Uber & Lyft, I'd forgotten what it costs to use a cab. When I need a ride in Nashville I usually just Uber. I didn't realize that Uber hasn't made its way to Evansville yet. We ordered a cab from Dave's Taxi to take us out to a bar. The trip was from the La Quinta to SPE, about 6.1 miles. The fare was $15.40. We rounded to $20 bucks for tip & all. It's $3 for pickup then 2 bucks each mile. This cab service is actually the cheapest in town, but it's hard to go from paying 8-9 bucks for this kind of trip with Uber to 16 bucks. On a positive note, our cab driver was very friendly & didn't drive like a maniac. read more

I just called Dave's Taxi Service to ask if they could accommodate my wheelchair during my trip to Evansville in Nov. It's small and lightweight and I'm not confined to the chair and can get around on my own. I just need room in the vehicle to put it. I see on their website they drive vans. I'm confused about why they cannot accommodate my small chair. The woman who I spoke to was very rude. I downloaded yelp just to leave this review. Worst cab ride I've ever had. I booked the cab to take me to work while my car is getting worked on. I spoke to the driver on the phone the day before and he told me I could pay with credit card or with cash. When he picked me up, he told me he could take me to an atm for the cash. When I said I'd prefer to use my credit card he told me that he would simply leave me at my house if I don't want to use cash. He was already 10 minutes late, so I didn't have the time to get another cab. I will never use this service again, and I will tell everyone I know how terrible it is. read more

They are batting 3 for 3 (hey, this is a baseball town right...I mean they had some guy name Don Mattingly grow up here and named a street after him) for me thus far. I used their service and all 3 times I was picked up on time or close enough to on time when they were busy. And I will add that they have yet to come up with an excuse not to do what taxis are intended to do like another taxi company in town. The place we were at had several windows out front and had zero minivans pull up. I'm glad I waited 45 minutes to do my business with another place. No exaggeration, probably the worst customer service I've ever encountered. My company had chosen Dave's as our transportation in Evansville and when I called them to inquire about the pre-arranged pickup time for the next day the dispatcher simply said, "I don't know. Dave has the schedule." When I pointed out (after a pause) that this didn't help us much, she said she'd go find out. This started a surreal saga of phone calls where no one could tell me the (pre-arranged) pickup time. I finally just picked a time that I felt was appropriate for the travel we needed to do and was told, "well, then why'd you ask what the scheduled time was?" At the end of it when the owner (the elusive Dave himself) called me to tell me the time I pointed out that it would be helpful if the receptionist/dispatcher had schedule information to give to customers I was literally yelled at by the owner, "WELL I'M SORRY I'M SORRY I'M APOLOGIZING WHAT DO YOU WANT??" When I then pointed out that it was a bit ridiculous to yell at a customer who was asking a fairly standard question, I was hung up on. They sent 4 different cabs to get our party of 8 yet none of them would take us because there were "too many" of us even though we were very clear about there being 8 people. Here's an idea, maybe send 2 cabs?? Or tell us that you can't handle 8 people? Instead we waited over an hour and had to call our hotel to come get us. August 6th, 2016. A day that will live in infamy for me for the rest of my life. It was a hot summer day as I waited outside for Dave's taxi service to pick me and my companions up for my dear friends wedding. After calling several hours prior to request the taxi service, we sat outside our hotel anticipating the arrival at 4 'o clock pm central time. However, we waited for 30 minutes and we still were left without a ride. We sat outside hoping that Dave's taxi service would arrive, but to our dismay we were left like sweaty peasants abandoned on the side of the road. Imagine missing your good friends wedding...this ruined our friendship. 15 years thrown down the drain because our taxi made us late. I will regret using this taxi service for the rest of my life. Once the taxi arrived, I figured the day could be salvaged and we could at least make the reception. About 10 minutes into the drive to the wedding, a rumbling in my stomach started. Given the fact I had tried two of Taco Bell's new steak fajitas for lunch, I feared the worst. I politely asked the driver to pull over to accommodate my bowles, but she refused.
