Buyer beware for this dentist. They will not check to see if your insurance will pay for services, they simply do the work and send you a bill. Called to try and speak with them about the bill. Asked why they didn't check with the insurance or even give me an estimate of the work to be done. They told me that billing the insurance was only a courtesy and that I was responsible for the bill. I told her that was no way to do business and she told me to pay the bill and my records could then be sent to another dentist. read more

The office staff as well as Dr. Alemar are very polite and everyone explains procedures with clarity. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a dentist for excellent dental care. After reading many positive reviews about Dr. Alemar and his office, I made a new patient appointment, which took over a month to get. From all the rave reviews and extended wait time to get an appointment, I assumed Dr. Alemar knew exactly what he was doing and gave him the benefit of the doubt which was my mistake. First, as a new patient coming in for a 6 month check up, I was given a cleaning by one of his assistants, and when Dr. Alemar finally came in to see me, he took a look at my x rays and took a quick peek in my mouth only because I said I had some sensitivity on one tooth. I saw him for no more than 3 minutes. I was advised to make an appointment a week later so that he could take a better look and see what was going on with my tooth. Being a new patient at a checkup, he should have examined the general health of my teeth and gums, as all of my other previous dental experiences have dictated. When I came in for my second appointment, he took a quick look around and said that I had a problem with my bite and that I was probably clenching my teeth at night. He said that he would adjust my bite around the problematic tooth by shaving the teeth down, but this cause my bite to be offset on the other side of my mouth and put the majority of the pressure of my bite on my front teeth. He said that it was good to have a strong front bite so that pressure would be taken off of my molars and that I should learn to chew with my front teeth. Long story short, I had to go in for 2 more followups to adjust my bite, which only further disoriented my bite and gave me terrible jaw pain. A few days after my last adjustment, I moved back to CA where I was seen by 2 different dentists and an orthodontist who were all perplexed by why an occlusal adjustment was performed on my teeth. I was told that his decision was probably well intended, but made prematurely. As a result, I had jaw pain for over a month and my front tooth has started to shift as a result of the improper adjustments made to my teeth to try to compensate for the wrong bite. Due to the fact that my lower jaw extends further out than normal, other measures should have been discussed with me prior to shaving down my teeth. Currently, I now have braces to try to correct my bite (which I didn't have issues with in terms of comfort and ability to chew prior to seeing Dr. Alemar) and get proper alignment of my molars again. Overall, this dentist and staff were incredibly nice and I'm sure that others may have very positive experiences with this office. But I felt the need to write a review because going here was a regrettable decision for me. After 3 office visits, a world of jaw pain, an incorrect bite, and a $150 dental bill, I am worse off than when I stepped into his office. If you do decide to go here, make sure to ask questions, and be able to process recommendations before getting treated. If you're looking for a dentist with a conservative, cautious approach, I don't think this is the one. read more
