Love this shop! Have purchased auto industry collectible signs for hubby's man cave in the past and he recently bought a cool metal sculpture of 1920's era racing car. So many unique and funky things! We also had the opportunity to use David's estate services and he was so kind and helpful getting family belongings into the right hands. You will spend a few hours in this store if you want to really look at things. The owner is really chill and nice and is an official appraiser of watches and I don't know what else but he said he's one of very few appraiser guys in the area. I really love the aesthetic of this shop, fun and (as all antique stores) crowded with items. But there is room to walk and soak in all the memorabilia and collectibles. Just walked in on a whim and not only was I instantly brought back to childhood memories (always nice when you were a 90s child), but I was astounded by the sheer range of items. Everything from taxidermy and paintings to medicine bottles and WWII paraphernalia. The owner was also super friendly and you can tell he's someone who truly appreciates the history, stories, and memories that each piece carries. Can't wait to back! read more

David is the San Diego answer to the Pawn Brokers. I took him some Asian panels to evaluate, and I listened in awe as he told the story of when and where they came from. His shop is filled with fun and fantastic items. Good luck leaving without buying something. This is one of the coolest shops in all of San Diego with a little bit of everything to make everyone happy. The owner David is awesome and very knowledgeable on all things old and weird, he is also one of the most generous store owners I have ever met. Take your time going through the shop because if you go too quick you may miss something awesome and go more than once because he is always getting new inventory. Also, if you let him know what you like, he will most certainly find it and have it in the shop upon your next return. I like magic and found a few magic items and on my next visit he not only remembered me, but he had a few more items hidden away for me to look at. My father in-law is a huge antique collector/restorer so when I told him and my boyfriend about a new antique store I discovered in La Mesa, we made plans to go that weekend. My boyfriend and I are not experts by any means when it comes to antiques (what to look for, how old something is, where it came from, etc.) but we always enjoy tagging along with his dad to look/learn and have even made a few purchases. So when we arrived at David A's Antiques, we expected an experience much like the ones before it. However, as soon as we stepped foot in the store we noticed David A's is not only full of beautiful, timeless antiques, but it was also packed with tons of truly unique, one of a kind items as well! From hand made items to masks and artwork from all over the world! The prices are fair and David is extremely helpful! I was almost immediately drawn to a 4 pc set of handmade tiles that were marked between 18-25 bucks a piece. As soon as I expressed my interest in them, David offered to sell them as a set for $40! I am a horrible haggler.. I would have happily paid the reasonable price as marked, but wouldn't have been able to get all four at the same time. Needless to say, I took the deal and am beyond thrilled about my purchase! David is very nice and sociable so we were all chatting as my father in-law was completing his purchase as he found a few great pieces as well. As we were talking, I spotted a vase that I fell in love with and jokingly asked if he could hide it for 2 weeks until I could come back to buy it.. David then hands me a post-it, tells me to write my name and number down and offered to actually hold it for me for 2 weeks!! I was blown away as it seems, unfortunately, most business owners no longer go the extra mile for their customers. Between the truly incredible selection of items, great prices and even better customer service, my family and I walked out satisfied with every intention of coming back on our next antique hunt outing! Found this awesome store through the recommendation of a neighbor. This place is a hidden gem with tons of cool items including vintage toys and Disneyana. The owner, David, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We spent a good amount of time talking to him about things he had in the store. Heads up that it's open to the public on Saturdays, otherwise by appointment only. Thank you, David, for showing us around and sharing stories about your father. My son and I live around the corner from this absolute gem of an antique store. From the second you walk in, you'll be greeted my smiling faces eager to help, yet happy to allow you to look around and simply enjoy all of the glorious treasures within. Their inventory of truly beautiful and historically rich items, at very fair prices, will keep you coming back again and again. Even when we just stop in to look around they are so kind to my 7 year old. They explain to him what some of the oddities are used for or where they came from, and the last time we were in the both of us left with little gifts. You will not regret stopping by, if even for a few minutes, though chances are you'll be in there for awhile. Enjoy! read more

This place has great items for very reasonable prices way under market value! the taxidermy lion in the window grabs your attention right away. deals by appointment only. The service is very honest and friendly and free appraisals on your items. voted top antique shop in east county and I definitely will give 5 stars and recommend this place to friends and family. there is something in the store for everyone. read more
