Definitely a unique spot right in downtown La Mesa. They have their own free parking lot which is nice. We stopped by before we went to the weekly Fri farmers market. The mall is set up where there are small stations throughout (like a mall) where each one sells their unique goods. There didn't seem to be any pattern to how the store was situated so you never knew what you'd see from station to station. Lots of home goods, toys and memorabilia. The last of the surviving La Mesa antique stores! I like to come here once a month or so to check out their inventory. This is my neighborhood antique store so it's easy to stop by once and awhile. I think in my last review I said I never find anything, well that sure has changed! They have tons of amazing jewelry, furniture and any antiques you heart desires. I am particularly fond of the booth that has pink glassware, vintage aprons and perfume bottles as well as the one with vintage slips. There's always something new. I purchased a fantastic barrister bookcase a few years ago that's been put to good use and is well loved. If you are in La Mesa definitely stop by! read more

Best antique store ever! We have found many treasures here over the years. Spending a week in here would not be enough to see everything.

This was my first time visiting this antique mall, and I absolutely loved the experience. The private parking was such a bonus and made the visit stress-free right from the start. It's also in a super central La Mesa location, close to so many shops and places to eat, which made it an easy and enjoyable stop. Upon arriving, I spotted so many beautiful pieces. I was genuinely excited to see several items straight off my wishlist. The amount of booths is amazing, with so many unique, well-curated finds. I can certainly say, " I blacked out". However, compared to other antique malls, this one is definitely on the more expensive side, which is really the only downside. However, many of the pieces felt special and thoughtfully sourced, and some prices were still very competitive for the quality. There were so many booths with incredible items that I can't stop thinking about. I'm already looking forward to coming back on payday because this is absolutely a place worth revisiting. read more

I visited this store over the weekend and was extremely excited about my finds! I found this beautiful Tiffany style lamp with tulips on it, which is my favorite flower. The lamp was priced at around $150, which I was fine paying because it was exactly what I was looking for. When I got home, I decided to do some research and to my surprise I found this same exact lamp on Amazon priced for $70. All of the markings are literally the same on both lamps. I am so disappointed because I truly thought I was getting a piece that was antique or vintage because that was how it was marketed. I will not be going back and advise that you be wary and research the items before purchasing. read more

Great place to find antique treasures! Very good selection for whatever you may be into such as jewelry, action figures, glass, or housewares. They had quite a bit of Carnival glass as well. Staff is super friendly and helpful. When we were there a man was taking laps around to make sure customers could get into the locked cases, talk about customer service. He was also a fellow antiquer, I could tell, by how he talked about some of the items we had selected. I ended up purchasing a Hendricks bird cage (circa 1930s) , a Nippon porcelain vase (circa 1920) and my girlfriend bought me a kerosene lamp (circa 1900). Interested in what I bring in and curious at all times. When I have shopped in the Antique Mall I have found a variety of wonderful items. You can get lost for hours in all the different booths. The offer was insulting, and instead of being professional, the staff laughed and acted like they knew better -- even though it was obvious they didn't have much expertise. This was an interesting find in La Mesa. Stopped by when we were aimlessly walking around. They have many different items for sale. Everything from furniture, comics, toys, to knick knacks. Tbh I am not sure how much these items are supposed to be priced but I'd do market research before purchasing anything. There are signs all over the store that you're being recorded and will prosecute if you steal. The restroom is off limits as there is a sign they were sued by a repeat litigator and they were not ADA compliant. Again interesting to say the least. Yesterday I contacted the La Mesa Antique Mall by phone and had a pleasant interaction with the person who answered. I inquired about selling items and she stated that they do have a buyer and she is in store today, but that she does not make offers and so I need to have prices in mind. I researched my items found a median selling price and then divided that in half because I understand the shop is in business to make money. When I arrived, I took a variety of items out of my car and placed them in a pull wagon and took them to the front counter. There were three women sitting behind the front counter, none of them acknowledged me, but they were talking amongst themselves. I greeted them and asked if they were busy today to break the ice and still no one said anything to me but rather stared at me. It was super awkward. So, I said I was there to see if I could sell some items and the older woman behind the counter rudely told me just because we buy items doesn't mean we will buy your items. I told her I understand and she glanced at my cart where at the top I had an antique encased geisha doll and she said we don't take dolls. I simply said okay and then asked if they take books and she said no. I pulled out an antique crystal water goblet and she seemed semi/interested and asked how many I had and I responded 8. Each item I pulled was just awkward. I felt like I was interrupting a conversation. I then pulled out an antique milk container that she definitely liked and commented how unusual it was. She then made me an offer for the crystal goblets and the milk container contrary to what I was told she would do. She offered me $30 for the antique milk quart and 8 crystal water goblets. I had priced the median price of these online at $60 per goblet with no online sellers having more than a pair. I was going to ask a low $100 but she never asked me my price. I told her that was too low for me to consider for the goblets and I thanked her and left. I had a complete 91-piece set of German chinaware in my trunk I was planning to bring in on a second trip and I even wanted to look around the store but I just didn't feel good about spending my money here. Overall very awkward experience as a customer. Zero customer service skills. It's not even the fact that the way did not purchase any items, it's how I was ignored, how rudely I was spoken to and how I was made to feel like I was interrupting their day rather than being served as a customer and greeted with smiles and acknowledgment. I recommend folks consider utilizing online marketplaces over this place to sell. Or, check out one of San Diego's other reputable antique stores. read more

I buy and collect many things. Comic books are one of the things I always look to buy. Almost all the comics are overpriced, twice the correct resale value. None of them are mint condition but they're asking mint condition prices! I hope they fix this issue soon. Ripping off customers isn't good business. read more

Unfortunately I have to echo the sentiments of others who wrote that this is NOT a place for anyone who is a minority. I lived in San Diego about 20 years ago and went to this place and felt gross leaving back then. Well, I moved back recently and took my friend here and I felt exactly the same. How does the atmosphere not change? Well, it seems like the same employees work here(doubtful, but it really feels that way). In this day and age of such division, the differences in service and acknowledgment are glaring and maybe the employees who work here are proud to pick and choose who they acknowledge and are friendly with vs. those who they eye suspiciously because they are not old, white(and perhaps antiques themselves). I really hate to leave this type of review, but when I went here recently, I felt the same as I did all those years ago and I remembered why I hadn't been back since. Last time I had my mom with me and I remember the employees following us. I very felt upset because my mom is so kind and really loves antiques and happens to be a cute little, dark skinned Hispanic lady. I know she felt awkward being followed and eyed through the store. "Maybe they were following you because they wanted to know if you needed help". No. No they were not. Besides the overt discrimination here, the prices are ridiculous and the inventory is boring. Spend time elsewhere in San Diego for antiques and unique finds......thrift stores, estate sales, other antique shops who don`t make you feel like there is something wrong with you for existing. I will never go here again. It is frozen in time and I`m not just talking about the items they sell. It's 2023, y'all. We choose where to take our business. read more

I have been a fan of this place for years. I have always had pleasant experiences here and find the best treasures! My boyfriend and I went in here last week looking for vintage western themed attire and we found the coolest belt buckle! One of the employees took the time to walk us through sections with western stuff and even gave us a discount on tiki mugs we liked. We came in again today and the employee remembered us from last week and once again helped us find exactly what we were looking for. I showed her a photo of a vintage outfit I'm trying to emulate and she had the perfect headpiece and necklace that will complete my outfit. Truly such sweet and kind people work here. I've always loved coming here and will continue to for as long as it's open! I would like to point out that as a black woman I have NEVER felt discriminated against or mistreated EVER! I have been a returning customer of this place for years. I don't know why they have reviews suggesting otherwise. Fun artifacts and memorabilia! I felt I was back in my grandmas basement or attic! They had a meat grinder that we used to make fresh hamburger and sausage! The has some neat old pickle or sauerkraut crocks and earthenware bowls. Kewpie dolls. Something for everyone! Definitely a trip back in time!!!! read more

I love this antique mall, I really don't understand some of the reviews bad mouthing the place. True, they do have memorabilia that has a dark history in some areas, but that is of no fault of the owners. Also, there are plenty of people that appreciate all facets of history and like to collect that sort of thing. Anyway, the ladies that work here are really friendly and willing to help and show you whatever you may like. I found some beautiful vintage accessories here at such an amazing price! I've been here many times, and I'm always in awe of the sheer volume of interesting stuff for sale. Cabinets upon cabinets filled with every kind of bric a brac you can imagine! You couldn't look at it all in a day because there's just so much of it. And there's something for everyone too, so if, for example, you like 80s action figures, there are plenty, or if, for example, you lean more towards sweetly old fashioned stuff like dolls and doilies, there's also plenty of that! read more

This place gives you an incredible amount of variety and has everything regarding antique; you could spend hours in this place just looking at all the cool stuff. I do like the size and idk of any other antique shop that's as well kept or as well stocked. However, I'm not sure how attached the owner is to the stuff and tbh the prices are too much for things I don't see being worth much at all. For example I saw a cracked Tecate glass sign for $30.... and sadly they'll only go down %10. Not much room to haggle which is why I like antique shops so much. Overall I gave it a 4 star cuz it is a good shop and I can't do much about the prices. I think this antique shop should have rare items sometimes, at least I found them twice here when I visited twice. It means I found rare items every time here. This must be a good news for me and I believe this ship might invite me to buy those items during lunch time. While attending Oktoberfest we stopped into the La Mesa Antique Mall just to check it out. It is a pretty cool store with a wide variety of antique and some not-so-antique merchandise. Some stuff is truly antique, while other stuff is just old. I guess it is fairly subjective though. I enjoyed the booth with the beer collectibles. I didn't buy anything, but I was certainly tempted. Tap handles are my Kryptonite, but I refrained. The four of us spent some time walking around the store, it was fun. read more

This is definitely not a place to go if you are a minority. I went today with my sisters and was completely and totally ignored. No interaction was had with us, but interaction was had with the other (white) patrons in the store. Even when we checked out, there was no communication. If you love antiques, this is a fun place to stop. They have a little bit of this and a little bit of that. What drew me in is we're in need of a new dresser. Our new accommodations won't allow for our wide dresser so I need something like a tall boy. I found an ad on Craiglist for two very nice pieces that I wanted to see in person. We were greeted when we came in and the clerk was super helpful. She took me around the store showing me the location of all of the different options. She encouraged me to buy something we fell in love with not just sort of liked. I appreciated that a lot and did hold off on a purchase because the husband and I couldn't agree on one. Horrible experience at this store today (08/06/20), especially for minorities/anyone with a darker skin tone than white. Walked into the store and two workers were just talking to each other without any attention to me, but when other people ("whites") walked into the store, the workers immediately stopped talking and greeted these people. It was obvious that I was ignored on purpose, as I observed more people coming in and the workers greeting them. Hey, why did I not get the same greet, was it due to my skin tone? As I walk around, I observed workers checking on people in the store, other than me. If this is not obvious racial discrimination towards me then I don't know what is!!! Now I see why the city La Mesa went through what they went through with the racial injustice. I recommending that people don't go to this store and support this business. I use to support this store and have always found the service to be mediocre. However, today 08/06/2020 I had the worse service! My sisters and I walked in and the ladies at the front completely ignored us. They walked around the store and checked on there white clientele customers but completely ignored us (again). Sold stuff there yesterday. I know people think their stuff is worth a ton. I walked in and immediately felt uncomfortable. I've never done this before so I was a nube. The buyer lady was so rude. She acted like I walked into her house and told her to make me a sandwich. I'd had the items appraised so when I said that she was all once I hear that word.. rolls her eyes. I'm like I'm not asking anything near that . I showed pics on my phone and some things in my trunk. What she wanted and acted like I would be lucky to get . I'm not sure how I was so intimidated. She got at least 1k for and gave me $60 bucks. My things were 100+ years old and had been my wealthy grandmother. Back inside she hands me $60, no receipt. I even had gave her free for the like a crack, etc. my friend had came w/ and was like looking around and they have like non-antique Like costume type jewelry. So we spent more than we sold. I asked if I could get a discount for the $18 dollar earrings? So she took $5 off but no discount on rings except the 10% it already had a sign that said it. I had one of my samsonite suitcases , those vintage ones in red. to show and I said the rest of it is at my place and I need to clean them out. She said I don't do anything that requires work but took the one I had brought. She said she was gunna give me $10 for it. BS. I know it's my fault for letting it happen. Kicking myself. She made me feel like total trash. I was driving my nice car. I feel like I would have been better at a Pawn shop. Bet I would have got more there. Don't know the ladies name but she's the all important "buyer". Lil skinny gray hair senior citizen. I want my stuff back and give them back the $60 but I know that's not gunna happen. I hope they contact me but highly doubt it. Hoping they realize that they were wrong and that u should appreciate and be kind to customers, people selling, buying, etc. gunna try calling them tomorrow, I'll keep u posted.
