Good old -fashion Doctor who takes a genuine interest in his patients health and well being. Reminds me of the turn-of the century type of doctor who used to make house calls. Has a calming demeanor. Does not treat patients like a number but asks AND REMEMBERS individual life events. My family used to go to his office in Mt Airy but closed it a few years ago. We felt so comfortable with Dr. Harding that we decided to follow him to the Olney office which is 30 minutes away. I do agree with the other reviewer, to a degree, that Dr. Harding is quick to prescribe medicine that sometimes treats the symptoms and not always the root cause. This may be an overly-compassionate desire to relieve discomfort in his patients. In any case, I believe everyone has to be their own health care advocate by asking lots of questions or have someone to act in that capacity. I was impressed to learn that Dr. Harding shares his time and talents with others who are less fortunate by financing his own mission trips abroad to assist patients in under-privileged countries who cannot afford or do not have access to modern health care. This speaks volumes to his compassion. My only other complaint is that I cannot remember the offices hours which are consistent week to week but not standard day-to-day -- but that is my issue as I cannot instantly the office hours for any given day but instead have to reference it. But that is a minor inconvenience and more of a burden on my memory than anything else. read more

I've been going to Dr. Harding's office for about 15 years now and, while I did not have issues for the most part, I have had some really negative experiences that have caused me to seek my medical care elsewhere. I've been prescribed medication that I have a contraindication for (and they knew about the contraindication as I had seen them about that as well). I've also had Dr. Harding call to let me know that my results were back with nothing to worry about, and then had the admin staff call me later to talk about the surgery I would need. I've also had issues with the radiology people screwing up my test prep, causing a 20 minute procedure to instead take 2 hours! While I understand the radiology people are not part of his office, they are part of the care team. read more

Like Anne ,I am also floored by the bad reviews of Dr Harding My family has been patients of this doctor for 8 years and we have always been very satisfied and happy with the advise and treatment of both him and his assistants. Dr Harding treats you like a intelligent person and takes all the time it takes to listen to your story.He assumes a patient knows his own symptoms best. Never had a doc with a worse bedside manner...terrible listening skills ...front office is just as bad...very difficult to establish any kind of rapport with doctor which is one of the main causes of malpractice suits read more

I have been seeing Doctor Harding for 15 years. He has been caring, effective, and life saving. I could not ask for more from a physician and I am dreading the day I have to find a new one. I have always been able to get an emergency appt which is important for me. I've never had issues with the prescribing of mess from him or his associates. Any concerns or interactions are always addressed immediately. Just an all around wonderful practice to go to. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Harding's for over 20 years. I only trust Dr. Harding with my care his office is very busy as he's been in this area for a very long time. He is also my children's physician and I will not bring my children to anyone but Dr. Harding. I know from my own experience that when people are unhappy they tend to write reviews more often, all I can say is I have never had any problem with Dr. Harding and I hope that he will be my physician for many years to come. (Part 2 out of 2) Then Dr. Harding says "No. Well, she's lower tier so I don't know what she is thinking we'll do for her." WHAT????! I am not really sure what he meant by that comment (because I was a walk-in, a new patient, my age, ?????? not sure). Either way, his comment is wholly unprofessional and out right rude. Why become a doctor if you do not even want to help a sick person who took the time out his or her day to come to your office out of all offices in the area?? Blows my mind, but I guess it is a fact of life that some people really could care less. Beverly comes back and says "He said you don't need any tests. Plus, he's been doing this for 40+ years so I'm sure he knows what he is talking about.." Well, I don't know Beverly. A monkey could be a monkey for 40+ years, but I wouldn't necessarily trust them to be my doctor. He prescribed me asthma medicine, ignored my concerns, and made rude comments in the back of the office as if I were deaf and couldn't hear him. But, like you said Beverly, "40+ years"!!!!! Meanwhile, in the back, my sister is being seen by one of the nurses (totally different from anyone I saw). I believe her name was Sherry. My sister explained her symptoms (the exact same ones as mine) to Sherry and Sherry decided to do a rapid strep test and throat culture as a precautionary measure. Now, I had been sick for about 2 weeks as this point, with worse symptoms than my sister. Yet, when I was seen by the DOCTOR himself, he couldn't even listen to my concerns or do any tests when I had requested them. Interesting. Anyways, after leaving the office I went to a walk-in clinic. I should have just gone there first when Beverly was being rude on the phone with us hours earlier. The walk-in clinic prescribed me antibiotics--according to test results, I had been sick with a bacterial infection. It is funny that a doctor's office could not even provide me with test results, let alone any tests when (as a patient) I had requested them, but a walk-in clinic could. The clinic staff was also far nicer and understanding. Basically, most of the staff at this office are very rude. Tina, one of the receptionists, was sweet and accommodating when I was talking to her face-to-face. Beverly was very rude and condescending, and, honestly, is bringing this practice down with her attitude. Even without Dr. Harding's behavior, I would not go back just for her behavior on the phone and when I arrived to fill out paper work. However, Dr. Harding's behavior DEFINITELY makes me never want to go back. Dr. Harding is rude, does not listen to a patient's concerns, and I really would not trust him to be my primary care doctor. The way that he was speaking about me in the back of the office was the cherry on top to this mess. My behavior remained calm and respectful throughout this experience, and did not warrant such disrespect from the staff. Definitely looking for a new office after this. I went to the office about 5 years. At the beginning I liked it despite the limited hours of service. Service has greatly decreased. Doctor and nurse practitioners don't know the medication they put me on themselves, let alone when they started to give it to me. Is that not what they should keep track of? (Part 1 out of 2) NEGATIVE STARS. Honestly, he could be sued in the future and I would not be surprised. Well, what an ordeal. First off, when I initially called to set up an appointment, Beverly Rundel (one of the receptionists) answered and was very rude on the phone. I had been very sick for almost two weeks (I would've been to the doctor earlier but I started to feel better and then got worse after the first week), with a fever, congestion, fatigue, sore throat, and extreme tiredness. I was pretty sure I had been infected with either a virus or bacterial infection and told her that on the phone. My sister, a current patient, had also just became sick days before with similar symptoms and needed an appointment as well. Basically, we needed to see a doctor that day, or at least soon. Beverly remarked "Well you shouldn't be calling the same day for a walk-in appointment!!"--EVEN THOUGH THE WHOLE IDEA OF A WALK IN IS TO LITERALLY "WALK IN" THE SAME DAY, but I digress. Let us also keep in mind that the call was made hours before the office would close. I believe they were closing at 5:00 pm that day. The call was made at least 3+ hours before closing. Then, Beverly told me that she could see my sister, but "didn't have time for new patients today". Then, she said that my sister (the current patient) should go to a walk-in clinic. "I don't know any in your area but you can find one yourself," she said. We got off the phone and decided to call back to try again, and a new receptionist answered--I believe it was Tina. She said that they had room for BOTH my sister and I that day--ODD because we were just told by Beverly that it was not possible to both be seen????? Anyways, we get to the office and sign in. Tina asked for my insurance card. I really was not feeling well and was a little flustered and "out of it" (I think we can all understand this feeling when we are sick) so I was taking a little while to find the card in my wallet. THEN, after less than a minute of looking for it, Beverly butts in and says (as if I am not standing in front of her) "Oh my gosh can she not find her card???!". And then rolls her eyes. "I am sorry to tell you honey, but if you know you are going to a doctor's office, you should have your insurance card. I mean, I don't know what you were thinking walking in here..." At that exact moment I found my card. :) By the way, finding my card only took a minute or so, yet the receptionist was so arrogant and rude that she felt she had to add in her two cents, when I obviously was not feeling well and was not wasting anyone's time either. I was seen before my sister. I walked into the back, and was seen by a student who was studying to become a nurse. He asked me about my symptoms. I told him about all of the previously discussed symptoms that I wrote about above. Then, Dr. Harding comes in. He LITERALLY just brushed his hands on my throat (I repeat, brushed with limp fingers) , not even close to where my swollen lymph nodes were, and said "Well your lymph nodes are fine. Also, you aren't coughing now so you can't be that sick. You don't look that sick either" SORRY, I DIDN'T REALIZE A PERSON HAD TO "LOOK" A CERTAIN WAY IN ORDER TO BE SICK. Then he checked my pulse, heartbeat, etc. He asked if I was wheezing, and I replied that I hardly was. I explained that the only time I started wheezing A LITTLE was at night because I had been sick with a really bad cough, congestion, fever, and sore throat. He takes minute, looks at the nurse in the room, and says: "Hmmmm, well you know what? I am going to write you a prescription for a year's worth of Singulair." SINGULAIR??? That is a medicine usually used for asthma. He said that should help with the cough. Ummmmm.... .....what about my other symptoms???? I made sure to be clear that I did not have much wheezing, if any, and that I had many other symptoms than coughing. He ignored what I said, and said I should take Singulair for 3-4 weeks. ???? I asked him if I would be taking any tests for the flu or strep, which I could possibly be infected with. He replied "Umm, no" and walked out. Then, I asked the nurse/student if I could take a precautionary test for flu or strep, even a throat culture to detect anything, and he said "Dr. Harding doesn't think you need it." Well, I walked out and while I was waiting for my sister (who was now being seen in the back) I thought that it would be important to ask again if I could at least do a throat culture/rapid strep test to be safe. I asked Tina at the front if I could have a test done just in case. Well, what do you know?? Beverly butts in again and says "let me ask him..." Let me make another important note. The staff is very rude and unprofessional. You can hear them gossiping and talking about patients in the back with each other and they really could care less. When Beverly went to go ask Harding if I could get the test done, she phrased it as "She doesn't need a test right?" read more

So, my brother was seeing Dr. Harding for a treatment of suboxone for a opiate pill addiction. While on this treatment he also prescribed him adderall (a highly controlled and addictive substance) and clonazepam (a benzodiazepine that's highly addictive). Why would a Doctor knowing prescribe a pill addict these drugs? Good question, it impacted my brothers treatment and sidelined him from getting better. Thanks Dr. Harding for aiding in ruining my brothers life. read more

I was floored by the other reviews for Dr. Harding! Maybe because I see his intern "Bunny". They do not prescribe meds unless I ask for or about them, and they always keep up on my blood work and health. They always take the time to make sure my life is going well as well as my health, since they are so intertwined. Additionally they are helpful in guiding me to the right place. The only complaint I have ever had is my treatment between when i was pregnant as I was no longer his paitent but not yet a patient of the OB/GYN either. So I ended up in the hospital becasue I could not stop vomiting. I would advise not only his staff but the staff at Montgomery General that excessive vomiting during pregnancy is NOT being dramatic and I DO NOT need to eat crackers and lay down (which were the exact words I got from both his office AND montgomery general) its called Hyperemesis and I lost 28 pounds during my pregnancy from being unable to hold food down. Granted they did refer me to an excellent OB but they should inform the staff that when a patient calls in on a friday they arent trying to mess up your weekend, they are trying to stop vomiting and being called dramatic is ignorant and unprofessional but seems to be an issue around the whole complex over there including the hospital and Emergency Room! read more

Dr. Harding has been my doctor for the past 15 years, and I recommend him without reservation. I have always found Dr. Harding and his staff to be caring and professional. He does have a large number of patients, and I have had to wait for treatment on occasion, but the treatment has always been good. I have always felt Dr. Harding was compassionate and understanding, and have been completely satisfied with his medical knowledge and abilities. read more

i do not understand the negative reviews i see here. for my part, and i have been a patient for about 15 years, i have found doctor harding and the pa's working with him, to be very thorough in their examinations, conservative when it comes to prescribing medications. i have no problem with the provider i am seeing at the time, listening to me, asking clarifying questions and ordering appropriate tests and procedures. during these 15 years, i have had several life-threatening illness. i am still here and largely due to the care doctor harding and his staff have given me. thanks to them, i certainly am living on borrowed time!! i am now 75 and have had a number of primary care physicians during my life. if not the best, doctor harding certainly is in the top tier of physicians i have seen. now, i want to address the comments regarding the office staff. i interact with several of them at each visit. they are always warm, friendly, courteous and get me checked in as quickly as possible. i will be a patient as long as i am alive and as long as doctor harding is in practice. read more
