They are like mechanics trying to push the most expensive things they can. To top it all off they coded my exam with the only code my insurance doesn't cover. When I called my insurance, they informed me of four codes they pay for exams and stated the only one they don't cover is the one they billed under. I reached out and they informed me they wouldn't change it. I asked if self pay was an option as the bill was $159 and was told it would still be the same. So, for $159 they did nothing but give me a quote for $4,500 worth of dental work they suggested for me. Steer clear as I believe this place is money hungry.

Disclaimer: This review is for before Dr. Hans took over the practice, since I moved out of state. Hans Family Dental is the new name for Dr. Broadbent's practice (who has since retired). I give them 5 starts for the super friendly staff and exceptional, high-quality service they provide. I had used them for around 8 years for cleaning and a wisdom tooth extraction. My dental hygienist was Jamie. Her cleaning and checkup is great: she takes the time to remove all plaque through a detailed and *gentle* scraping, brushing, then flossing. She inspects it again and then scrapes again if necessary. I would almost fall asleep during my visits. The office has modern equipment, unlike some other places I've been in the past. Their bitewing x-rays are digital, so they get an instant x-ray picture on a computer monitor in front of you and the dental hygienist. The front desk staff really cares for their patients and here's a story to prove it: One time, I was in the emergency room and ran into Sue. We chatted for a bit and went our ways. A few days later, I got a get well card in the mail with a hand written note wishing me a quick recovery! It's rare to find businesses with staff like this one! Staff is caring and methodical and willing and able to explain procedures and insurance issues, when asked. Knowing how much you have left for the year with insurance is important in scheduling. Knowing payment option time lines, without insurance crucial. Dr. Hans is articulate. She takes the time to explore various options, even ones she does not offer! Her website provides a base to ask better questions as does the Dr. Siebert -(Suliman) periodontists website (gumdocs.com.) This is an important to decisions that not thought through can leave you toothless, temporarily toothless, or cost more in the long run. For example: If teeth are shifting, will retainers work until a more expensive option can be afforded? A retainer that masks a missing tooth a better option if that is a possibility? The patient must prepare for the appointment, to get the best service and they provide those tools.

Dr. Magura is absolutely fantastic--gentle, caring, and exceptionally skilled. I actually fell asleep (with no sedatives) and napped through the latter half of the procedure. The staff - desk staff, hygienist, and Dr. Fisher - were all welcoming, friendly, concerned about my comfort and convenience, and very respectful and professional in practice. They were transparent about the cost at the time the appointment was scheduled, and it was within norms for this procedure on this type of tooth (I am a health economist and epidemiologist and have access to good data on pricing to compare it to). I was referred to this practice by another dentist, and Lafayette Endodontics had responded to the referral and called me to schedule the appointment withing 10 minutes of leaving the referring dentist's office. All pre-treatment paperwork (except for signing off on consent for the particular procedure) was completed with a simple on-line form they sent me a link to and which required less than 10 minutes to complete as a new patient. I hope no one needs Dr. Fisher's services, but if you do I strongly recommend using him.

The tooth had been vaguely bothering me, so I decided to finally do it, and got a referral to Dr. Patterson. I went in a couple of weeks ago and very quickly got escorted back to the room I was going to be root canaled in (is that a verb?). Dr. Patterson came in and talked to me first, which I appreciated. We chatted about pain management protocols (he's very aware of opioid addiction and helping his patients avoid that), which I appreciated (although I'm not an addict, I have family members who are). He walked me through some of the specifics for my procedure, since there are several options, and explained the various pieces of equipment he was going to use. Overall, he made me feel comfortable with *him*, rather than making my feel like I was just one of ten root canals that day. His assistant made sure I was warm (they have blankets!), and we got started. The procedure itself was painless. I had my headphones on, I zoned out, Dr. Patterson and his dental assistant did their thing. Afterwards, it was a little sore, but nothing ibuprofen couldn't handle. I have a follow up next week for part 2. Three fun facts: #1, Dr. Patterson's father was one of the founders of endodontics. #2, Someone loved their root canal so much they literally wrote poetry about it. #3, If you have errant hairs on your chin that you have to pluck...wait until after your procedure. Your face is all numb, so you can pluck them pain-free! Honestly, I hope I don't have to go back, because I'd rather not have messed up teeth. But if I do have to have another root canal, I'll certainly go to Dr. Patterson.

I called back in January just to find out that they never sent it to my insurance and that they were going to send it "right now." They didn't even send the bill for my initial checkup to my insurance. I called back this month, February, and they claim that they still haven't heard back from them. I have never had to wait more than 5 days to hear back from my insurance. Almost 5 months of waiting. This is disheartening since I have something pretty serious going on with my tooth and now I have to find a new endodontist and have my records sent over to them.

Both of his assistants are amazing and very kind and informative as well as Dr. Corns. You could immediately tell he's very good at what he does, instead of the usual numbing at a dentist that numbs your entire face he numbed only the tooth and area immediately around it and the entire root canal was completely painless. They do separate the procedure into two visits about a month apart because he said because there are much better outcomes this way. After leaving that first day my tooth was completely pain free and only had to wait two hrs before I could eat normally. My tooth felt completely back to normal in between visits and the second part was very quick and also painless. Everyone I met was extremely kind, professional, and talented. Pricing was a little less than the quote I received on the phone and in line with the other places I called around to, but most of them couldn't fit me in for weeks, and even though his schedule was full he got me almost immediately. I've always heard root canals were painful but I've felt absolutely no pain during or since the procedure. I can't recommend Dr Corns and his team enough, my only regret is that he doesn't do general dentistry or I'd have a new dentist. Their offices were nice, clean and very comfortable as well. I went to my regular dentist, and was told that it wasn't tooth number 3 wasn't the issue, it was tooth NUMBER 4! I had that done by another dentist and he had to extract the tooth. I am definitely not pleased with Sahni, and I still had to pay him $1,000 for the botched procedure.
