The office was not covered under my Delta Dental Insurance so 100% of the cost was coming out of my pocket. My husband and I are seniors with many health problems and simply could not afford the high cost. On my last office visit, I paid the office $2000 for the future work to be done. When I found out my insurance was not going to cover any of the costs, as first told to me by the office, I requested a detailed invoice for any current charges and a refund for the money that was left. Two months later, I have yet to see either one. The staff continues to give me the run around, "we have to talk to the doctor ", "its been mailed", and so forth. I can't get my $2000 back and in these days of very high living costs, it HURTS! My husband and I need our $$$$ back!

I decided to write a review because I have been reading nasty reviews (probably deserved) of other…read moredental offices in town, and I thought it might be nice to write a good review for a dental practice that definitely deserves it. I have been going to Dr Ortman since I moved to Lafayette in 2008 (I'm writing this in 2015). His staff has always been knowledgeable and friendly, and the dental hygienists are very good at what they do. Getting my teeth cleaned is not my favorite way to spend an hour, but they make it as pleasant as possible. The last hygienist I saw was Kirsten, and she was friendly, gentle, and even made me laugh a few times. There is a new dentist there, Nathan Webster, and not only is he a good dentist and explained everything clearly to me, but he's also easy on the eyes. Mmmm hmmm. Anyway, since my insurance is through Purdue (for grad students) and it's total crap, I had to pay out of pocket, about $245 for x-rays, exam, and cleaning. While that's not cheap for me at all, it's still better than going to the two places that are covered under my insurance, both of which magically see cavities that you don't have and run exorbitant, unnecessary treatments such as "deep cleaning" and "mouth cancer screen". Oh, and if you're from Dr. Ortman's practice and you're reading this: please update your website and add some pics of your new dentist. Thx.

They work with new dental assistants, but have had the same employees for years. Have had issues over the years. Once we called Dr Guido at about 6:00 AM because of an issue that arose. It was the only time we could contact them to tell them we weren't going to be able to make our appointment that day. He was very nice about us waking him up early. The Corona virus, he contacted us on a Saturday evening to touch base in person about our up coming appointments. Can't say enough THANKS for the way they have worked with us over the years. You are a person with real life situations not just a number. Even though they are not a children's dental office, they work well with the little ones too.

The dentists have always been fantastic and the lady at the front desk was always so helpful and sweet. Well, they have a new girl also working the front desk who is incredibly rude. My Dental Insurance was having issues getting my employer to update my address with my PO Box, so I've been waiting for them to resend the insurance check. I've checked in on the issue multiple times, but it seems like the insurance company really takes its time resending the check, as I have been dealing with this for months and still haven't seen a new check come through. I let Tecumseh Dental know EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON, and that I would be in communication regarding when the check arrived etc, and that I would pay the invoice immediately after. The new lady at the front desk for Tecumseh was super shitty, short, and acted like I haven't been a patient there for 10 years and paid thousands of dollars. She told me to let them know, but acted super unhappy about it. (Remember, we're talking about $200) Since then I have been in touch multiple times about it, letting them know I've been doing everything I can on my end. WELL- yesterday I got a notice in the mail that they are sending me to collections for non-payment. This is absolutely absurd because A., I have been in contact with them about it the entire time and B., are you really that hard up on $200 that you're going to send a long-time patient to collections? How embarrassing. Needless to say, I will be calling them first thing this morning to pay the bill I haven't received insurance money for, and to let them know our family won't be back for services, and I definitely will let everyone know to avoid Tecumseh Dental at all costs, especially if they don't do something to make this right.

The office is beautiful and equipped with the most up-to-date technology, which made everything feel efficient, modern, and reassuring. Dr. York took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions, and never made me feel rushed. I've never had a dentist take before, during, and after photos during an appointment to show the work she was doing - how cool! It was obvious they truly care about patient comfort and quality of care. I also had a new custom mouth guard made as I grind my teeth in my sleep. Dr. York's office has a 3D scanner that took less than 3 minutes to complete - no need to for making impressions with that gross putty. My new mouthguards are thin and so much more comfortable than the old one I had. I'm so glad I found this practice.
