Extremely thorough and professional. Relaxed, pleasant demeanor. One treatment for crippling plantar fasciitis and I was good to go!

When I met Dr. Shock -- his first words to me were "How about we get this fixed up?" -- I was stunned after living with this pain for over 2 years. :) It turned out that I had a torn 'longus peroneal tendon' that he was able to diagnose with an MRI. Why no other doctor thought of that before, I have no idea. I suffered through the injections, creams, socks, inserts with other doctors without any relief. I had the peroneal tenodesis surgery and was walking without pain within 2 weeks of surgery! Doctor Shock is an amazing doctor and just a very friendly and welcoming guy -- I feel like I've known him for years! :) I highly recommend him for any foot pain that you may be enduring now -- you can be completely confident that he will fix you right up!

I underwent bunion surgery on my right foot, along with correction of another toe. Unfortunately, the final outcome has been very disappointing. Following surgery, my big toe healed with a significant gap between it and my second toe, creating an unnatural appearance that has never improved. In addition, the toe that was corrected with a pin never healed properly and now "floats" rather than resting naturally on the ground. Despite prolonged taping and following the postoperative instructions provided, these issues never resolved. I became so dissatisfied with the outcome that I ultimately chose not to return for additional treatment. I understand that no surgery comes with guarantees, but I feel my concerns and the long term appearance and function of my foot were not adequately addressed. Years later, I remain unhappy with the results and regret having had the procedure performed. Based on my personal experience and outcome, I cannot recommend this surgeon.

If you've never been to a podiatric physician (podiatrist), want/need to start seeing one, and…read morearen't sure what the experience is like once you get there, I'm happy to report that I had an outstanding first appointment experience at Austin Foot and Ankle Specialists. The office is set in a relaxing Hill Country setting with free parking shaded by live oak trees. The serene surroundings and organized, clean office, conveniently situated close to downtown yet much less stressful, are exactly what you hope to find in a medical office setting. Also impressive: The online check-in process was made available in advance; the welcoming, friendly front desk staff person helped me find the office after Apple Maps misdirected my navigation; and the attentive medical assistant ensured I felt comfortable and informed before seeing the doctor. Dr. Craig Thomajan was excellent--he took the time to explain everything clearly, answered my questions thoroughly, and his calm expertise put me at ease. I left feeling well cared for and with a clear understanding of my treatment plan. Now that I know what going to a podiatric physician involves, I won't hesitate to return in six weeks for my next appointment. I highly recommend Austin Foot and Ankle Specialists to anyone seeking expert, compassionate foot and ankle care in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
