Let me say, if this was just a review for Dr. Jue, I'd give five stars. He's a great doctor and for the two years I went here he was trustworthy and helpful. But it's the office. Every single time you make an appointment, they take it upon themselves to move it back. Not ONE time in the two years I went here did they ever honor the appointment time I made. So you make an appointment for 10:00 AM and you're driving in and get a text saying "don't forget about your 10:30 appointment." So every time you're sitting in the lobby for 45-60 minutes because these people think it's okay to change the appointment. Go to the office and look at how many pissed off people are sitting in the lobby. I make my appointments I put it on my calendar right away and put a post it on my monitor. Every time. The last time I made an appointment I did this and said if they move my appointment again, I'm done and sure enough they did. This is unethical in every way. People have lives and work and don't time to have their appointments moved around with out telling them. So every time I'd go in I was there for an hour and a half. This is NOT acceptable. Again, Dr. Jue, great. The people who run the office, the worst. I sucks because I had to go through a lot to find someone else, it's hard finding good doctors but the two doctors I've been to since both said this practice of moving the appointment time like this is not right. Dr. Jue is one of the most professional, intelligent, and caring doctors I've ever gone to. Not to mention EFFICIENT. I've never waited more than a few minutes before being seen, and once I'm seen he's always asking how I am, have I met my goals, how do I feel, and even teaches me really great techniques to help me feeling healthier and mentally better. I've been a patient of Dr. Jue for over 13 years now... not only have I received the care I needed but he has always gone over and above caring about my health problems. The quality of care I have received not only from him but his staff and with a (lot of patience ) they have managed to stick by me and my needs... i recently got Covid Dr Jue on vacation but had a nurse practitioner available..April .. so caring made sure I got the medicine I needed and has called to find out how I'm doing .. If I could give negative stars, I would. This doctor is the worst. He gave me 5 times the starting dose of an obscure hypertension med, a class of drugs that I had a recently negative experience from, causing me to pass out and break my jaw. When I realized it was a KNOWN side effect from the FIRST DOSE and I asked him, he texted that he wasn't aware and had never "seen it in his practice." My jaw was wired for 6 weeks and I still have pain. He never apologized, tried to delete his texts about it with me, and never checked on me after my injury. Criminal care from a horrible doctor. Then he ordered labs that he misinterpreted and tried to refer me out. RUN AWAY FROM THIS GUY- and I am a local doctor!! read more

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Chang and Dr. Jue over 30 years. We moved to WA state and still return to have annual medical exam with Dr. Chang. The negative reviews are different from the positive experience we have had. First of all, the office is always clean. Secondly, Dr. Chang and Dr. Jue can draw blood from tiny veins. Most technicians from the labs would have to jab my arms many times. Therefore, it is not only convenient but also less painful to have them draw blood at their office. The test results take a few days, and Dr. Chang always called us to discuss. We can always rely on Dr. Chang and Dr. Jue when we need medical care. read more

I had my first appointment with Dr. Derek Jue last Wednesday. I have been looking for many years for a caring primary care doctor. I used to be with Kaiser. Dr. Jue was both knowledgeable and helpful. At the end of the session Dr. Jue even asked if he had answered all of my questions and if I had any additional questions. My experience with my previous doctor is she would be halfway out the exam room door and if you don't answer instantly she would be gone. Dr. Jue actually stayed seated and waited to see if I actually did need additional information. I am so pleased to find a doctor who really listens, is knowledgeable, and provides extremely helpful information. I plan to recommend him to my Walnut Creek friends. PS: In case you are wondering my appointment ran on time and Dr. Jue helped to keep me focused to make sure all my health concerns were discussed. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. I cant stress this enough. Yes, the actual procedures were done well, I stand by that part of my initial review. But Dr. Chang has scammed me and left me with a big mess of problems. My only visit was for my immigration physical. Everything went well, but when it came time to get my paperwork returned things went sour. It took him three weeks to return the paperwork to me, even though I called every other day and they said "Tomorrow, i think. " The paperwork was given to me sealed which is standard, and I asked it it was ready to submit, they said yes. when it was submitted to immigration.. my whole application was denied. Why? Because Dr. Chang screwed up, really badly. He didnt sign the paperwork, he filled it out all wrong, and even "forgot" to give me one of my immunizations! He also forgot to sign that I returned for a followup on my TB test, which I absolutely did (AND paid for!) They refused to deal with this issue when I called, and I no longer live in Walnut Creek, so I cant go in person. This is absolutely ridiclous, and I was scammed out of 300 dollars. I had gone through many doctors before i accidentally found Dr. Derek Jue. I felt that my prior primary physicians mostly dealt with my illness in a black & white and not willing to work with me. They just keep prescribing medications that had bad side effects keeping me from working or living my life or functioning in the society resulting to additional disability instead of getting better. I was shock on my first meeting (6 years ago or more) with Dr. Jue that he actually sat there listening to me giving me his attention and provided me with easy to understand information about my auto immune. Since there is no cure yet for my illness, he is agreeable in prevention and managing my illness at very minimal or no oral medication. I like how on any test results, he personally calls to speak to you about it (it feels that I'm important to him to give me his time).... wow! not all doctors this great. With his advice in monitoring & self awareness of my illness, I am working and enjoying many activities that i could not have done with previous doctors i had (I may be much more disabled already if I didn't listen to my gut feeling or instinct). I don't have plans to be on wheelchair when i retire so i want a doctor who has the same goal as i am. Thank you, Dr. Jue for listening to my concerns! 2nd review: i've been his patient for almost 10 years and suffice it to say... i loved their service. I really don't want to give a great review as i want to keep Dr. Jue to myself to get the service i've been getting. The more people see him, he may get busy and i will have to find time to see him. i like the fact that he has time to listen and sometimes he tells me that he has been researching other methods to treat my auto immune (ITP) plus recently...sciatica and we would try which treatment/method will work. Each time i had a flare up and he is required to refer me to specialists.....i end up more worst. In the end after giving the specialists a chance, i end up going back to Dr. Jue to let him know that i'm refusing to be seen by others and would like him to treat/manage my illness as he had done before and we did well. He suggested other alternative methods and i got better as well as back to work. i get a one stop shop with Dr. Jue (e.g. blood tests, urine tests, pap smear, etc) which saved me time (you need to check with your insurance coverage or with the office staff) going to quest diagnostic or lab corp where you wait a long time before you get care when other doc requires blood work & they don't do blood work. the staff are like my family (friendly and helpful). Though Dr. Jue is only primary doc but he is way better than my past primary doctors. remember: it doesn't matter who your doctor... it is still up to you if you are the kind that rely on medications only that can also add other damage to you because of side effects or take control of your own treatment with alternative methods as safely as possible to live longer. you need to tell your doctor which one are you and decide if you want to work with them or not. for sure, that's what i did and dr. jue happens to be the kind of doctor that is also willing to try alternative methods to avoid medications if possible but only prescribed it for on a need basis. again, the responsibility still falls on us to control the addiction on meds or not. choose for your betterment to enjoy your life to the fullest. read more

Dr. Chang has been my Grandma's doctor for over 20 years and she loves the great care she has received from him over the years. She also tells me that he is very diligent in keeping up with the latest medical research and is a top notch doctor in his field. I take my Grandma to the doctor sometimes so I was impressed with the professionalism and great service at this office. I decided to get a checkup the next time I took her there with Dr. Jue. It was fortunate I did because my blood pressure has shot up to 157 due to the crazy food I was eating like 2 packets of prosciutto (which is like eating 3 tablespoon of salt). Dr. Jue is also a fantastic doctor and a great person to talk to. Thanks to the fact that I took my Grandma to her doctor might have saved me from a heart attack or stroke! I found a great doctor. I had an appointment with Dr. David Chang. I found his practice on my insurance provider list. He was the only doctor that was listed under, "General Medicine." I haven't had an annual physical since I was in my teens. So, I decided to get checked out. This office is amazing! I called in on a Thursday and scheduled an appointment for the following Monday. And, at the time I wanted. I thought I had to wait a month before being seen, but I'm glad they were able to accommodate me. My appointment was quick. Dr. David Chang went through all of the needed steps and took my blood. I'm a baby when it comes to needles and blood. He was making me laugh by saying, "I am a professional; many, many years taking out blood. Don't you worry!?" If you guys are looking for a doctor, see Dr. Chang. Dr. Chang has an old Asian sense of humor, but if you look past that, he is efficient and really cares about his patients, unlike the many Kaiser physicians I have seen. I went to this doctor for my FREE annual check up. He did the free annual checkup (and charged only 19$ - not a big deal), then he ordered the blood tests required inside his clinic... I asked to take the prescription and go to quest labs but he didn't agree. I also asked to write "send copy to patient" so I can get the results directly he didn't agree. He forced me for a follow up... I went to the follow up, then I found a bill with 130$ coming to my address - that I had to pay. Complete robbery. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Dr. Chang makes sure to use every opportunity to check in on my health basics, adding annual blood tests to appointments where I'm coming in for various ailments. I'm very disappointed with this office. After just two months as Dr. Jue's patient, I'm now switching. I made it abundantly clear on my initial check up that I needed a CPAP machine ASAP to alleviate my sleep apnea. It's now been a month since my sleep study (which confirmed the obvious: I have severe obstructive sleep apnea) and Dr. Jue as well as his staff neglected to order a machine. I'm out. Avoid this place. EDITED TO ADD: I learned today that my CPAP machine was denied because the staff submitted it as an "authorization" rather than a "prescription". I was rushed, ignored, and spoken to like a 2 year old! I STORMED OUT with a promise to post this yelp review! Dr Jue is a ROBOT!! He is patronizing, inconsiderate, and very condescending! After he unleashes his astonishing rath of ARROGANCE he will remain completely emotionless and have total disregard for your feelings! I was allowed 20 seconds to explain what I was experiencing before he shoved a stick down my throat, announced he wasn't sure, then wrote a prescription for something he stated "may not work." HUH?? When I asked him to spend a little more time assessing my symptoms, he became snuffy, defensive, and began sarcastically encouraging ME to make my own diagnoses in comparison to his. In short, I payed $30, only to storm out with unwanted knowledge of his resume, and zero answers to my problem! To Dr Jue... 25 years of being a physician does not make you better then anyone! The office staff are pretty bad. I have been to the office twice and they never show friendly to patients. Seems to me they are not willing to help at all. I requested a copy of medical record. They kept asking me to go to office to pick up. They claimed that it will be sealed in envelop. I drove to their office and they just give me a piece of paper. I also ask a medical question, they said Dr. Chang will talk to me over phone but sure it never happened!!! read more

Honestly Dr David Chang doesn't even deserve 1 star. His outrageous horrible attitude is almost to the point of offensive and degrading. He refused to give me blood test results and said I had to wait until I received them in the mail. He has absolutely no compassion or respect toward his patients or patients family members. The appointment scheduling is absurd. I always have to leave work for an appointment only to find that the slot is triple booked. You can arrive early and still have 2 people seeing the same doctor at the same time as you. It is a giant waste of time for anyone who needs to work. Because everything is overbooked, appointments are rushed and he is not really listening if you want to discuss something further. If your issues are not cut and dry, you're told they'll look into it and call you. I've never received the follow up phone calls I was promised. I regret not switching doctors sooner. read more

I had gone to dr chang for a few years & he always rushed my appointments that i had w/ him & i caught a bad flu & i was wheezing, caughimg & had asthma all at the same time. He said that it will go away eventually & for me just to take somthing for flu. So i did & of course it got worse the next two days. Dr Chang didnt even refer me to get an xray. I had to go to urgent care & my hubi had to drive me. I couldnt even drive. They took an xray & found out i had pneumonia. Shouldnt the doctor b more cautious instead of misdiagnose patients? Btw... I am glad I get to be the the 1st one to make a post cuz I've been seeing Doctor Chang literally my whole life. I am almost 27 years old now and I know his practice have been around longer than I've lived. And not only that, my whole family have been his patients for many many years. He's always friendly and listens to your needs. He is straight up w/ you when it comes to personal questions and the things you need to do to get better. I saw the very negative review of Dr. Chang when looking for another Dr. Chang that is in our insurance network. I felt compelled to record our family experience with him. Dr. Chang is not currently our doctor due to insurance changes putting him out of network. However both my wife and I saw Dr. Chang for several years. He was my primary care DR and my wife went to him if she had an urgent problem because he was more convenient and flexible than her doctor. We both had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Chang and found the care he provided to be helpful and appropriate. I don't doubt the word of a person who said she had a bad experience. No one is perfect or right 100% of the time but I am surprised. Both my wife and I would trust Dr. Chang to treat us or see to it that we got an appropriate referral for any health care issue we had. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Chang for about a year now and he has been nothing but professional. He may seem to be in a hurry at first, but he is just a high energy individual who knows what he is talking about. I've seen him for poison oak, pulled groin, asthma, and some other blood work and he brings the same energy and enthusiasm each time I visit. Recently I lost my job and my insurance and he agreed to see me at a discounted rate compared to a walk in clinic. Dr Derek, Jue, Objective: I went for my physicals. I told him I was feeling fatigue and lost some appetite and didn't feel like working out. Good: Everyone in this office is lightning fast and highly responsive. Not so good: I feel Dr. Jue needs to work on his diagnostic and people skills. He treated me like a piece of plywood. I had already talked my matter with my doctor in India and he told me the symptoms I show is a clear indication of low Vit D. Firstly, he was hurrying me so much as if I have come to his house abruptly and taking his personal time. He drew my blood and told me he would only do cholesterol. Then I insisted him to do a Vitamin D or a complete Vitamin test. He thought and told me he would and then only did Vitamin D test. He also sent me a report via email. They have a really robust system which they don't know how to use. He just said my cholesterol levels are high and Vitamin D level is low. He never scheduled a follow-up appointment, after drawing my blood he just hurried me out saying we will let you know the results. He didn't give me any opportunity to ask any further questions. I wrote him a candid feedback and he called me immediately to patch up. He kept blaming on the new system which I feel is awesome but if he doesn't know how to use it, its his fault. Who wants to go to a place to be treated like a nut? I am never going here again. Except for promptness, I don't see any value add. Again even in achieving the promptness, they miss on huge things which is not worth it. read more

Dr Derek Jue was not one of the better doctors that I have seen. Perhaps he was just too busy that day. Anyways he wrote down the incorrect procedures that were performed for the day and submitted them to my insurance. Maybe the staff submitted the wrong paperwork. I was subsequently billed for procedures not performed. It took quite sometime to resolve. read more

Dr. Chang has been my physician for many years. I have also been seen by Dr. Jue as well. I have found both of them to be polite, professional, and that they listen to my questions. I have nothing bad to say about them. Unfortunately, with new coverage forced upon me with Obama Care, these two do not appear to be in my Health Plan Network, but that is via my provider's website, I will call Monday to see if they are in fact a part of my health plan. Dr. Jue went above and beyond the call of duty one time a few years ago when I was very ill in Florida, and he came through for me when I really needed the help via a phone call from his office. Would have given the guy a "0", but would give him a one star for the efficiency of his staff. As for his services.... My company changed insurance providers, so here I am, looking for a new doctor. AND, I almost busted my knee running. So here I am, going to Dr. Chang. Got in, he was happy to get a new patient, went through the usual "first time " questions and asked me why I am here. I explained to him: knee pain, swollen knee, cannot even step on it. The guy SAW ME LIMPING IN!!!!!!! Here comes the funny part-- he asks me to raise my hands and happily exclaims: "you have no arthritis! Good!" Tells me to put "warm moist compress on the knee" and he will give me an anti-inflammatory prescription! Visit over!!! The guy never even looked at my knee! Had long pants on, so he could not have been able to sneak a peek at it like if I was wearing cargo shorts... I have been in sports for quite a long time (and at age 37 I am starting to feel it) but that was the first time I have been diagnosed by a doctor without him/her looking at the injury!!!! read more
