Before I even walked to my car I had a text demanding $95. My insurance EOB stated that I owed $0 for the appointment so now they are insisting the $95 is for the x-rays. Umm, no at a maximum I was told I'd pay $40. Then Dr. Levy told me I needed to see the endodontist in his office. I was VERY careful. I spoke with his staff (with him standing right there), and confirmed that it would be covered as a co-pay only with my insurance. They said it would be so I went to this completely unhelpful endodontist who looked in my mouth for a few minutes and basically shrugged and said she didn't know why I had a toothache. For this privilege I was billed $238. ALMOST $350 IN BILLS FOR NO TREATMENT, DIAGNOSIS OR ADVICE. And those bills are counter to what they told me. I should have recorded the conversations - oh wait, that would be illegal, but I guess lying about billing practices isn't. They have been horrible to deal with. I will be filing a formal complaint, fighting the bill, and will never go back. I feel completely ripped off and scammed.

Our experience was very unsettling. I arrived at the office with my special needs son, who had not eaten since 6:00 pm the previous night. We arrived for our 9 a.m appointment and waited a half hour in the waiting room before anyone came in to check us in. Finally, Liz showed up looking harried, impatient and unfriendly, and handed us a clipboard to fill out. After waiting an additional hour and a half and with no communication as to when my son would be seen, I advised Liz that we were leaving as my son, a person with special needs and a diabetic was becoming agitated due to the unacceptably long wait. She was rude, disrespectful and unprofessional, certainly not possessing the patience, compassion and understanding expected from someone working with the special needs community. Very disappointing, but for the best because I immediately found another sedation dentist, and was given an appointment for the end of the week, not months in the future as is the custom at Dr. Lee's office. I got a good feeling from the first, friendly encounter. As the parent of a special needs son, I have come to expect (and receive) a certain level of patience, consideration, respect and kindness for my children. Liz failed to meet even the most basic of these expectations. I believe Liz thinks we should put up with this deplorable behavior perhaps because they think they're "the only game in town." Well, they are not. There are other sedation dentists who will treat their patients with dignity, courtesy, respect and value. Unless Dr. Kenneth Lee's office undergoes a major overhaul in their care and treatment of individuals with special needs, I would strongly discourage bringing your loved ones to this office.

Forgetting your ID is a simple mistake, but the front office made no attempt to find a solution. We all know how busy life gets, and I took time out of my day to show up. So the attitude I got from the front staff felt unnecessary and frustrating. Also, it was disappointing that the office didn't try to find a more customer-friendly resolution. I could have provided my credit cards, social security number, or even my previous exam records (which they had a copy of)--my crowns are still in the same places! I didn't get to experience the positive interactions others have shared, and that's a real shame.
