Walked in and it looked lovely and then we spoke to the guy and basically, he didn't want to know. We offered him the commission of a bespoke frame, a brilliant deal, STILL didn't want know!! When we asked him his name in an effort to be friendly, he referred us to the sign at the front of the shop!! Wtf???! So we just left and bought the raw materials to make our own frames, for a fraction of what he was charging! I would never return and would not recommend.

I'm not being picky, I just want to see something that I couldn't do. (Now for my rant) I get irritated when I go to a gallery and there in front of me in all its glory is an A4 piece of paper with a blue square on it. No frills, no beautiful flowing brush strokes, just a blue square. Now you can put all the artistic blurb you want as a write up but it 'ain't gonna impress me.' Fortunately the Ray Johnson Please Add to and Return gallery wasn't like this. Ray Johnson was the pioneer for the mail art movement. The movement is where he would start a piece of art and mail it to somebody else, they would add to it and send it back, and on it went like this until the piece was deemed complete. The percentage of his work is collages, that in the beginning of the exhibit I couldn't connect with. As the exhibit went on I found I was coming around to Ray's extraordinary ability to combine complete randomness, humour and skill in his work. What truly inspired me about Ray's collection wasn't his art, but his random letters and snippets of notes he wrote when he forwarded his work to colleagues and friends. His mind fluctuated like an arachnophobia suffers bum-hole whilst watching, well, Arachnophobia. His chat was hilarious, he would have made a sensational yelper. One of my favourite letters was "THIS IS JUST TO SAY" I have eaten the limes that were in the iceb ox and which y ou were probably saving for breakfast forgive me they were delicious so sweet and so cold (The mistakes were as he made them) Ray's collection is bizarre, imaginative and often funny. His work is theoretical in approach and follows the Gestalt laws. Occasionally though he throws artistic theory out of the window with pieces that cause the viewer anxiety. If you are interested in collage or font, you should go to this exhibit. It is entertaining, creative cheese for the mind and best of all, free.

Most houses were bothlived & worked in, & attempts were even made to growmulberry trees in the house gardens for the silk worms.English climate prevented this, so silk was imported& woven here & stretched on the lawns or "tenterdowns'with 'tenter hooks' to make the clothes for the rich famous. Street names reflect this industry

I wanted to try and combine a few similar themed ones into a framed series. Anyway the guy at the store was very helpful and had great taste and we figured out some combinations and adjustments that seemed to work. He gave me a goodish deal and asked me to come back in two weeks. I was not prepared for how awesome they turned out. Absolutely beautiful! There was a craftsmanship beyond the measurements and settings which you will not get from a standard art store. I think it's worth taking in art works here, and maybe even family pictures, to elevate them beyond the ordinary.

Can't speak highly enough, Andrew knew I only had three days before I flew back home, pulled out all the stops and had it ready a day before I flew home. Did an amazing job , better than I could have gotten at home, very reasonable price. Highly recommend.

The staff are happy to make suggestions for the right frame for your work, and the results are always highly professional: beautiful bespoke frames with carefully selected backing paper and hanging kit included. I like the fact that the staff are not afraid to make suggestions: We came in with a limited edition print we wanted to put in a black frame and the guys in store gently suggested that this would completely dominate and ruin the artwork. They recommended a pale frame we never would have chosen ourselves. but I'm very glad the did as the finished product is beautiful and it was immediately obvious that a dark frame would have ruined the look of the print. FS&M is not cheap: we paid £70 for framing a smallish print, but it's definitely worth it for the quality of the service and the finished product. Also for the convenience of the location!

I called Malcolm ..a yes man I will have you know, who was able to provide a stellar job, fabulous quality, beautiful frame that made my art look just lovely and he did it in less than a day! This guys is wonderful and I would recommend him and the shop to anyone. They also have some art and ceramics to purchase in there..you should go take a look!
