Steve is very personable (which is rare for a tax professional), but more importantly, he is a human encyclopedia of Tax Law. I can't imagine how he remembers all of this, with the laws changing every year. BUT, he is able to explain our government's crazy rules that apply to our situations in a simple, easy to understand way, and he backs it up with case citations. He is a business owner, so I've found that he's uniquely understanding of the challenges and issues that face small-to-medium business people. Much better than working with 21-year old college graduate who is an employee of a large firm and doesn't 'get it'. Steve proactively works with me mid-year to get a handle on where we stand, so we can make strategic decisions before we're in a panic at year-end. In 2017, she help me open my business. In 2019, she helped me change the name of the business on the CA State level and not on the LA city level, which I didn't realize until years later. I left LA and no longer work in that city. Since the old business name is registered in LA, they requested back city taxes of $1198 in 2024. I paid and contacted Jill to request that she close my old business in the city of LA. She said she did it and charged me for "her work". However, that old business is STILL registered with the city of LA and then are now coming after me again for another $1200. I do not recommend JEM Business Solutions.
