I didn't post this earlier because I wanted to give Theodore the benefit of the stress of Covid, but someone asked specifically about this salon on another platform for an upcoming wedding. I explained that Theodore was extremely rude to me on my second visit to the salon and that they should think twice before hiring him for such a high stress situation. I first had my hair cut by Ted and it was alright. I didn't go back to him because I found him to be rude. For my 2nd trip there, I booked with Kelli. MISTAKE! She was rude, dismissive, and condescending. When I asked for texturing (my hair is long and very thick so it just hangs if it's not lightened up a bit) as opposed to long, visible layers, she told me it's either layered or not layered. Not discussion. No trying to understand what I was saying (which I've said to every other hair stylist I've ever had, and no one has ever had an issue understanding...). She was too busy being catty with Ted and talking negatively about clients - the whole time looking at herself in the mirror while she talked to him. After I got home and washed my hair (she blow dried it, so it was hard to tell at the salon), there was NO evidence of the $55 haircut I had just gotten. I ended up going to Super Cuts in Hudson and had a GREAT haircut. I'm new the area, and I trusted the name David Gavin because I used to go to one of their other locations...I will now continue to go to Super Cuts. Better haircut, better attitudes, better pricing. Both times I went to David Gavin, I was the only one there. Other times when I've walked by, it's been empty...I guess I now know why. read more

I have never had an experience like a did with this salon. It was empty with just the owner and an unpleasant rude maskless male haircutter. I asked if they could either wet my hair to cut it or wash it with my leaning forward over the sink due to a medical problem. After stating that this wasn't possible, the rude man stated that although my hair had been washed two days before, "he didn't work on dirty hair". I have to say, he was obnoxious, and the owner looked on and didn't do a thing to intervene. I can't imagine what the deal is with them but I would stay away. read more

I've been going to Kelli for years, and she has seen me through the chops, the grow outs, the bayalage, all of it, with honesty and professional rigor. She is a real artist and asks a lot of questions to be sure that she understands what "my vision" is before the cut begins. She and Ted are a fantastic team and I'm so glad to have found them years ago! read more

I wish I read the reviews before going. This was the worst haircut I've ever had, a complete rip off. He cut off way too much and didn't shape it at all, just cut it straight across. read more

I am a client of Ted's, but I can no longer hold my tongue about how rude and unprofessional Kelli is with the clientele. She has a terrible attitude, and regularly talks about the customers after they've left. She is downright obnoxious, and I simply can't continue to patronize an establishment that has such utter disdain for their customers. Shameful. read more

I regret that I didn't walk out when the "stylist" asked me what I meant when I told her I wanted a trim...she had no interest in even looking at me; she just mailed it in...She had the nerve to ask for a tip when I gave her my credit card (after telling me she was the owner of the salon). I will never go back there and advise anyone who reads this to go elsewhere, unless you are okay with a very unenthusiastic stylist who does the bare minimum... read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I wish I could give this place fewer stars. They were supposed to do my best friend's hair for her wedding, as well as her mother, the groom's mother, the groom's sister, and me (MOH). We walked in on the morning of the wedding and were told that we did not have a reservation. Bride's mother had made the reservation five months earlier and had put in a deposit. The owner was completely unapologetic and outright rude. I went to the place across the street to see if they could at least take the bride; they were booked for the day but also told me that it was the SECOND TIME THAT WEEK that David Gavin had done this to a group. I called around to other salons in the area, all of which were willing to try to help but most of which were already all booked for the day. I eventually found a place that could take the bride, and they were kind enough to call another salon and arrange for her mother and I to have our hair done as well (both places did a lovely job, were extremely nice to us, and cost less: Loft 48 and Shear Design in Lenox), which was what David Gavin should have done in the first place instead of offering no help whatsoever to a BRIDE on her WEDDING DAY. I am not sure if the bride's mother has been able to get her deposit back, but this place is COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. read more
