I'm not sure why the rating here is low. Service is excellent and the staff is friendly. From radiology to surgery...all amazing. The oncology department is topnotch. The nurses' professionalism, standard of care and compassion is second to none. The doctors are honest and patient in answering all questions. This is not your standard hospital. This is a military hospital where the staff works hard here despite other competing priorities such as military obligations. They also worked during shutdowns. Definitely an all star health care facility. read more

Surgery went great as expected. Surgeons and their teams were outstanding! ICU personnel were some of the best people I ever met . Once I was out of ICU and sent to a floor it became a nightmare . Without going into detail, they ( night shift ) were the most unprofessional and the worst people I have ever had to deal with in the medical profession. Big deal was the food was terrible and they kept bringing me food I was allergic to. I only got to eat a half of an egg salad sandwich and lucky the nutritionist showed up with some scrambled eggs before I was discharged. The night shift left me laying in my urine for four hours and wouldn't empty my bottle or let me out of bed. A big thank you to the young man who got me cleaned up and changed my sheets in the morning. Again , thank you to the Air Force personnel that treated me good . Mom was recently admitted there for GI surgery. The surgeon was very knowledgeable and did a great job keeping me informed. The nurses were nice as well. My only complaint is that the hospital is huge and it can be daunting directionally. Staff is helpful though read more

Big hospital and hard to navigate. They are doing a lot of renovations to certain rooms. I think the service is great from Physical Thereapy and Occupational thereapy as well. MRIs, and X-ray no issues. Pain Management is awesome and there stuff is very helpful!!! MH Genesis sucks. I don't see the point of it if patients can't use it. You can't see your current medical information only appointments. read more

I have had the worst experiences at this hospital. Many things of which I could hire a lawyer for. I am young and have many health issues. I've had many issues with doctors brushing me off, gaslighting me, or telling me it's in my head. I've had to get off base care just to prove those issues in fact were not in my head. It wasn't until recently, when my labs started showing bad changes, that one of my doctors started listening to me. He is finally taking action, whereas the previous doctors didn't. So, I am very thankful for him. The hospital itself is always clean. The rest of the staff in passing are courteous. The problem I've noticed with this hospital is they don't do preventative medicine. They wait for something bad to happen, then they do damage control. Which costs more money in the long run. Before I became disabled I was medical, so I remember how this all works. They need to get it together. JCo would have a field day at this place. So much medical malpractice and medical patient abuse going on. Unless you are active duty, your doctors are going to dismiss everything. And even for active duty, it isn't that much better. Kind of a lose lose situation here. read more

Scheduled an appointment with the secretaries and then came for that appointment to find it was never put in the system properly. They don't even know how to use it. Plus I came to get my prescription one time when it said it was ready and it was not and I'd either have to wait 3 hours to come back the next day. This review is for the pharmacy. I ordered my sons medication on Wednesday. I normally give the pharmacy one whole week before I pick them up. My husband went to go pick them up on Friday. So they had 9 whole days to process my sons medications before he picked them up. My husband went to the hospital pharmacy and they tell him oh no there at the BX pharmacy. What the tech failed to look at was the fact that his meds are RXI which are special order. So I go to the BX pharmacy and they tell me no there not here....(and get this).....there not even processed. That means no one even filled it. Thankful I always try to have a weekend supply because of mistakes like these. But you can see from all of my reviews of the pharmacy, this is not the first time this has happened to me. I just complete a survey at the pharmacy. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. read more

This hospital has helped my father and mother and also us kids when time in need. Wait time can be lengthy unless its noted to the staff its high priority. I recall waiting for more than an hour for my mother's or father's dr appt at times. Sorry to say but there are some Eye Candies in this facility as well! LOL From Hospital staff to patients in uniforms! =P The cafeteria food can be quite expensive - rather eat somewhere else locally however the food is apparently healthier due to it being "hospital" food. From clinic appointments to surgery everyone that I've interacted with was the best. I had my surgery on 5/26 and went home on 5/27. My recovery was going well until 6/6/17. I developed a high fever and other signs of infection. I arrived in the ER and was immediately greeted by registration and then to triage. The nurses, techs and MD's were terrific. They came in my room to update me on my lab results, checked on me frequently and listened to my concerns along with addressing them. I arrived on 3C and everyone came in to help settle me in. They were all friendly, attentive and have great bedside manners. The team of nurses and doctors worked together and coordinated my care. I am thankful for all those involved in getting me better. read more

This state of the art facility is home to some of the best doctors and specialists around. As I have an incurable form of kidney disease, it's a comfort to have the specialized treatment that I need, 24/7. In addition to the staff and crew, the facilities are always sparkling clean. For the most part, everyone is helpful and friendly. I shouldn't have to go to NorthBay hospitals emergency department to get better care, but that's what happened today. The DGMC ER staff don't know how to properly handle mental health needs, nor do they know how to work with very simple/common psychiatric medications. When they ask you about being suicidal, even if you are, lie and say you aren't or they'll try to trap you with a psych hold, even after saying suicidal thoughts won't be an issue as soon as medication dosages are updated. (I'm in-between psychiatrists, waiting for the new one to accept me as a patient.) I've dealt with their psych department half a dozen times now and it's a complete joke. Every single time I've had to deal with them, their staff upset me way too much. They're dishonest and made me feel patronized, trapped and helpless. They upset me and then wouldn't let me leave to get better care elsewhere because I was upset. It's becoming less and less surprising that there isn't proper mental health resources or staff anywhere near Fairfield/Suisun. To get proper mental health care, you have to travel to Sacramento or San Francisco areas. Or just die. ‍ Why is NorthBay able to help me with such ease while David Grant isn't able to? Absolutely absurd. I NEVER want to go back to DGMC ER after today because of how poorly they handled my case. Alas, I likely have to, since I have chronic health needs which require emergency room care, sometimes. All I needed was a medication dosage change. No new medications or anything, just a small, low-risk medication dosage update so I can stay safe and healthy when I go out of town. I'm absolutely appalled at how I was treated and how my needs were addressed. Pathetic. DO BETTER. read more

I'm so annoyed. My husband is scheduled for a vasectomy this month and it was like pulling teeth to get someone to call us back to schedule it. The lady on the phone was rude, and told us he would receive papers in his email before the procedure but hasn't yet. Oh David Grant, What would I ever do without you so close and dear to my heart? I have been here numerous times via ER..(Yikes), appointments, admissions, and to pickup at the pharmacy. I am really impressed with the new restoration of many of the units and departments. Its so much easier now to find clinics that you need to go to. Did I mention I also love the fact that if you go to the ER, you maybe the only one there? or if they do have other patients, I have never waited no more than 10-15 minutes in their waiting room. 18 Jan.2021 I called Pharmacy activation at 9:02 am and was #9. After 45 min. wait by 9:47am I had advanced to #2 I waited in #2 place for 66 min. until 10:53am and finally gave up. I called Activation again at 10:55am and was #10 This is for medication that I requested over 2 weeks ago and have come to the Pharmacy 2 times because I was told it was ready for pick up and they did not have it. read more

This is a very hard review because David Grant excels on so many levels, yet falls flat on its face on so many others. I've been using David Grant as my primary care facility since 1982. Yes - 1982. Over the years I've seen a continuous slide in service. But before I go off on all that is wrong, I have to say the people are fantastic. So, it's not the people or the quality of care. It's the bureaucratic system that has slowly grown larger and larger over years that has made it more and more difficult to get service. From a website that changes every couple of years, a phone system that seems to ensure you can't speak to a real person and seldom getting calls returned it is becoming increasingly difficult to get any service. It use to be when I needed something all I had to do was pick up the phone and make a call. Today if I try to use the website to make an appointment, the system always says there are no appointments available. And for the last 15 years I have NEVER seen my primary healthcare doctor more than once and some I never did see at all while they were assigned to Travis. It's not that I didn't try to see them. There were either in training, on deployment or no appointment available with them in the system. Now I have to get a referral for something the doctor already was going to refer me for but apparently didn't. I needed to see a dermatologist for a patch of dry skin and a vein that is doing something a little odd. I got it for the dry skin, but apparently not the vein. So now I have to go back and get it for the vein. A waste of my time and the doctor's time. So here's an example. I just waited for 25 minutes on the phone for referral management just to be told that they can't help me with my referral. If they can't help me with a referral then why the hell are they called REFERRAL MANAGEMENT! The young lady said that I have to put a message in for my doctor. I said, "Can't you do that for me?" and she said, "No." So she transferred me to a number for internal medicine. Now I wait again. Well if history is any indicator if I do leave a message I'll never hear from my doctor. I remember not too many years ago I could send my doctor an email and probably have gotten this entire thing cleared up with a 5 minute email from me to my doctor who might spent 5 minutes to fix things at his end. But now there are layers and layers of people who all seem to be able to do nothing but tell you someone else needs to help you. I also noticed that over the years they seem to like to play musical clinics. Let's move this here, to there, and that that to here, and put this over there and that there. I guess that looks great on a general's OER when they are able to say how much they were able to improve efficiency by moving this or that, or moving people around. I bet if you went back and looked at all the OERs and awards handed out and added up all the 'improvements' that were made over the years it would add up to over a 20,000 percent increase in efficiency and utilization of manpower. So after being on hold for another 10 minutes at internal medicine (35 minutes total now) and being told just how important my call is (so many time I lost count), the call was terminated because the subscriber does not subscribe to voice mail, "Goodbye." read more

Less than 1. They are horrible espeuthe nurses. My father went there for a routine procedure. He endured an 11 hour stay in the emergency room. And guess what somehow he contracted Covid. Now mind you the only place he has been is David grant for dialysis and then the emergency room. He was placed in a covid isolation room without a tv and no visitors. The room was filthy and only after my step mother asked the room to be cleaned. Well the head doctor instead of ensuring the room would be clean said they could release him to her care if she signed a waiver. Yeah that really happened. Instead of having whomever do there cleaning job they would rather release a patient. Pathetic. To top this office he hadn't had a shower or wash up in 12 days. I asked the nurse if you think he needed to be bathed. The nurse said we'll be didn't ask. I said well he'll it's been 12 days don't you think he should be cleaned. Suffice it to say my father was neglected by the nurses who instead socialized with the other patients leaving the nurses station empty and taking 2 hours to answer the call button. David Grant should be ashamed at how they treated this veteran. I feel sorry for covid patients. Check on your loved ones in covid isolation. read more

As much as people can be intimidated about this hospital because it's one of the largest training hospitals in the Air Force, I haven't had any issues with DGMC. I've had two babies here, 5 surgeries, my kids all see the same pediatrician (which is awesome), and have had no issues with labs, x-rays, immunizations, u/s, p/t, etc. Sure, you can say that mil doctors may be quick to give you vitamin "M" for most issues, but hey, if it doesn't work for you, that's why you schedule a follow up. The ER can be a nightmare at times, but what ER isn't? When we do have to go to the ER, the doctors there are great; quick and efficient and they've even remodeled the place! Looks more like most civilian ERs and I believe it's better for the staff as well. If there is any chance that you might have an issue with a provider, the care you received, or a clinic in general, you simply need to seek out the patient advocate for that specific clinic and they will hear out your concerns and have them addressed. We haven't had to go this route at all, and hope we never have to. read more

AWESOME STAFF I have been undergoing treatment for Terminal Cancer, for almost two years. As you can imagine I have spent more than my fair share of time walking the hauls of David Grant. I have gotten to know a lot of the staff but more than that I have seen and heard the staffs interactions with patients and visitors and they are ALL fantastic people. Thanks to the staff at David Grant Hospital I'm alive today!! Stage 4 kidney cancer MAY 8 2018, John Muir medical center San Ramon, Ca locater a tumor on my right kidney because I had blood in urine. The VA did everything I could possibility ask of them! Veterans Choice program is fantastic!! May 10, 2018 I had an appointment with Dr. Bera, VA medical center Martinez, CA she stayed late and preformed the examine. Locating the blood flowed from the right kidney and reviewing the sonogram determined the right kidney needed to be removed. May 11, 2018 Dr. Bera, on her day off, contacted several VA hospital in the Bay area but couldn't get me admitted. Her last call was to Travis AFB, David Grant Hospital, Fairfield, CA. (Which is the largest Air Force Hospital in the United States) I was admitted that afternoon. Turned out to be the luckiest thing for me! May 13, 2018 Because of the location of the cancer tumor the surgical team felt it might be attached to the Vina cava (?). They didn't have a splice available nor any other hospital in the bay area. So the wait for FedEx. CT scams, blood work visit by DR. Rycyna medical teams. Later the arrival of a splice. My operation was set. Now the problem arrived a temp of 103. I made the decision not to operate until it came down. During this time I was informed that a 10 per cent chance of making it thru the surgery. One thing to my advantage I was in good physical shape due to working out and walking everyday. I was about 25 lbs over weight. May 17, 2018 Day of the surgery. Because the base was on some kind of review the surgery had to obtain special permission to be preformed. That was obtain the day before and DR. Rycyna surgical teams were in and prepared for a 6 1/2 hour operation. 12 1/2 hours later I woke being wheeled to a critical recovery room. read more

Ahh one of the best perks about living on Travis AFB was this hospital. The service was always excellent, though during deployments, I can tell that they get hectic with over abundances of people needing out processing or in processing done. It houses a great cafeteria which I love. It's definitely a perk for being in service and I feel lucky to be able to use the facilities. They took care of all my needs, scheduled all my appointments and basically, I didn't need to do anything. They cared.. that's the most important part really. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it's faaaar away from everything else on base and for someone without a car to get back and fourth.. it was difficult. read more

I am a US Army Veteran and went through the Baritrics program at David Grant Medical Center. I have had 2 surgeries and 2 procedures performed by a wonderful surgeon, Major Rawlings. The latest surgery required two nights hospital stay and the entire staff who cared for me and my wife who stayed with me were remarkably caring and far surpassed our expectations! Every staff person from the surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, technicians and service staff were all amazing. Not a single complaint! read more

This is such a difficult review to write. For the better part of the last 40 years I have received medical care on base. It has been some of the best medical care a person could receive, and I have been grateful for that thoughtful and thorough care. After coming out to California to care for my mother, I had to change to David Grant Medical Center and Clinics at Travis AFB. My recent experience there has been poor. I booked an appointment for repeated high blood pressure readings at home, after a fall. My blood pressure was high in the clinic. The clinic appointment itself went well. I was sent to get labs, period. The lab was closed. I came back for labs when they were open and waited 1 hour 45 minutes before I was called to the desk to do the initial check-in. By that time, I was too late for one of the tests. A week later I received a phone call from the clinic staff asking me if my urinary tract infection symptoms were better. What? I explained I came in for high blood pressure. The nurse asked ME, why then, did I have a urine test done? What? Probably because the doctor ordered it? I explained my blood pressure readings were still high. She hung up. Over two weeks later, I receive a call from another clinic staff. She tells me a NP looked at my labs and would like to start me on a cholesterol medication because my cardiac risk factor is high, and I needed more labs. Yes, you read that right. My blood pressure is still high (200/110), I have received nothing for that at all, but they want to know if I wouldn't mind taking a "statin" for my elevated cardiac risk factor. I explained that I came in for high blood pressure. She explained the NP looked at my labs and due to my labs I have an elevated cardiac risk and taking the "statin" will lower it and take me out of that risk category. What????????? I insisted that a Cholesterol medication might not bring my very high blood pressure down and I was sorely disappointed in the care from the DGMC medical clinic. She scheduled another appointment for me. So very sad to see this type of care at a once proud and excellent medical service. So sad. I will be so relieved when I am able to return home, and back to the excellent care at Wright Patterson AFB Medical Center and Clinics. read more

Came here as a last minute resort because St. Josephs ER had my mother sitting at the lobby for 4 hours while she screamed in agony because of stomach pain. None of the nurses at St. Joseph seem to even care what was going on and just continued carrying on conversations among themselves on what they wanted to eat for lunch. So feeling fed up for their disregard of human life I drove her to the nearest military hospital. As a Marine veteran I am a little skeptical about going to a military hospital because your usually treated like a test rat but David Grant Medical Center was able to take care of my mother as soon as we got to the ER. However, I would highly recommend having an actual medical professional to inject you with needles instead of an enlisted student Airmen that took 10 minutes and a whole platoon to figure out where to inject her with iv fluids. Overall, I would definitely recommend the 40 minute drive from Stockton if I ever have any medical emergency for their fast and reliable service. read more

The pharmacy again. I called in a refill for my spouses Baclofen on Sun 12/31/2017. My spouse has Fibromyalgia and this is a a muscle relaxer prescribed to alleviate her pain. On the morning of Fri 01/05/2018 I called the BX to see if was filled yet. "Nope it's on order we're getting it in this afternoon". I call back about 1545 "Nope still hasn't arrived". I go there Mon 01/08/2018, "Nope not yet". Miss P has an Airman check with the hospital pharmacy, "Nope they don't have any in stock either. Miss P tells me they're not delivering the order for some unknown reason and walks away from the window to continue on about her business leaving me standing there with the unanswered $$$million$$$ question, Is the rx going to be filled and when? I ended up going to Walgreens. IF THERE"S A DELAY IN A DRUG SHIPMENT, HOW ABOUT A CALL TO EITHER THE PHYSICIAN OR PATIENT TO LET THEM KNOW THIS, INSTEAD OF STRINGING THEM ALONG AND LETTING THEM GO WITHOUT A MEDICATION FOR DAYS? read more

I delivered my baby here at the Labor and Deliver unit. My experience was okay, The nurse I had my first day was awesome, she was really kind and helped me get into lots of different positions. When shift change came around my new nurse was sort of rude. She seemed to judge my choices for a natural and more humanized birth. The care I received from the doctors was nice but I felt like they were barely there. Overall, I think the hospital did their job but I am happy I had my Doula there to support me through my birth. read more
