I was telling a friend I was in need of a new dentist after I had a couple of bad experiences with some local ones. She recommended Dr James The Dentist. I decided to give him a try. He is absolutely amazing. I've had quite a few issues with my teeth. Dr James has done numerous root canals and crowns. He knows what he is doing and is good at what he does. He is always kind, understanding and ask how I'm doing. I also love the fact that my appointments are always on time. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes. I also love his staff. This office is extremely unprofessional. There is a huge disconnect between the staff and doctor, which results in misinformation. I was told by an employee this is because of the high turnover rate within the office. When any doctors office gives misinformation to a patient, it's your job to make things right and/or at least take some type of responsibility. Not place the blame on your patient. I went to the front desk, and overheard the employees talking poorly about me because I was frustrated by the miscommunication from them. The doctor yelled over while working on another patient, which again, was unprofessional. Called and tried, again, to make things right, I believe her name was Susan, the office manager, was extremely rude and should not be in a customer service position. Don't act like you're accommodating to patients on the phone then act this unprofessional when they come in to your office. Very very upsetting. read more

Last week I had the unfortunate experience of losing two old veneers on my front teeth. I quickly made an appointment with Dr. James the Dentist (775-782-7799) in Minden. The efficient office staff fit me in the next day, as Dr. James explained all my options and we decided on two crowns. I was fitted for temporary crowns that day, and even though the procedure was relatively painless, I was uncomfortable. Dr. James nicely reassured me by a light touch on my shoulder that I was doing very well. A few days later, I returned for my permanent crowns and they were perfect! The light shade of color matched my teeth, as if they were my own. I highly recommend Dr. James for his compassion and expertise, along with very accommodating and kind dental staff members. Now I'm happy to sing, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth..." read more

I have horribly soft teeth and have seen over a dozen dentists over the years for a variety of root canals and crowns and all sorts of stuff. I can honestly say Dr James is in the top two. He is experienced and battle-tested, truly cares about his patients, and gives honest recommendations. I was on a ski trip in South Lake Tahoe when my tooth got aggravated and put me in extreme pain. I went into Dr. James office for an emergency evaluation. Dr James was excellent. First of all, this tooth started to act up a little bit before my trip and my dentist in Walnut Creek recommended that I get it extracted and put in an implant. So I put it off. Dr James said that he feels confident he could save the tooth and an implant is not needed. He performed a root canal. Dr James called me himself later that day and left a voicemail to check on me and give me his number in case I need anything. My pain came back in a big way that night due to an aggressive space infection that had developed and Dr James met with me at his office after hours and did some additional work to extract puss from the infection and decrease the pressure. Mind you this is around the holidays. Dr James saved my trip and saved my tooth along with the cost and hassle of getting an implant. Fantastic! read more

Dr. James runs an efficient office with helpful, friendly employees. He has the latest technologies and back up his work. He will go out of his way to accommodate you, even in an emergency, He is quick and gentle. I highly recommend him. I lost a filling on my front tooth and when I had my teeth cleaned, he had a cancellation and was able to fix it the same appointment as my cleaning. Thank you Dr. James! read more

I don't recommend going to this office!, Save yourself the drama and headache of hidden fees! I highly recommend Dr. Matt Schofield in Carson , him and his staff are very professional, compassionate and have their act together! One of my crowns fell out a few weeks ago and my mom suggested that I try Dr.james the dentist in Minden Nevada. I made an appointment for the doctor to look at my tooth where the crown fell out ,when I got there they immediately decided that I needed to have x-rays( for my cleaning in April) I asked them why and they said "well might as well do them while you're here. "They never asked me what kind of x-rays that I wanted , never gave me a choice or asked for my approval. They gave me a quote for my crown, I gave them my insurance information and my portion was to be $975. about a week or two later I received a notice from my insurance company stating that the office had charged for the five-year x-rays which I did not ask for or approve. 'The office made me wait for a month to make my appointment to get my new crown to wait for the amount the insurance would pay, so I had to run around with a hole in my mouth for a month, (I have never experienced that before in a dentist office ,normally they call the insurance get an approximation and they get you in right away) on the day before my appointment I called to check on things and to confirm the amount that I needed to pay, imagine my surprise when I was told that instead of $975 now I owed $1495 !!!( now granted they had yet to do anything to my tooth)when I asked them why the $500 difference they gave me some mumbo-jumbo response. I asked them why they had done the five year x-rays without telling me about it first and their answer was "well we checked and you were eligible for five year x-rays so we did them " i then asked them why they didn't submit the extra $500 to my insurance nor did they put it on my quote that I had signed ,again they gave me some mumbo-jumbo answer. Needless to say I canceled my appointment and requested my X-rays and crown back . Dr.james seemed very knowledgeable but his front office staff from the beginning seemed very unorganized , confused , questionable and scandalous ( especially the office manager) I wouldn't recommend going there. Because of their greedy underhanded way of doing business they lost not just one but three paying customers. read more

Dr. James has been my Dentist for probably 15 years now. I greatly appreciate that he takes the time to explain all of the issues and options, in terms that I can understand. His staff has always been patient, polite and professional. Finally, Dr. James was a Navy Dentist, and I like supporting Veteran-owned local businesses when I can. read more

Not happy with this dentist. Immediately before attaching the crown he said "It set up on me." Meaning the adhesive was already hardening before he attached the crown. Therefore the crown didn't go on all the way. It left a gap (margin) between the crown and the gum. This gap easily collects bacteria. I will have to go to another dentist to have this repaired. And instead of a titanium post, he used stainless steel, which contains nickel and frequently causes metallic reactions. This might be why the tooth is mildly aching now. I would NOT recommend this dentist. I believe his office is very much an assembly-line-rush-rush type of practice. read more

He really is genuinely a nice Dentist, skilled & caring too. I just had some cosmetic work done and he did an excellent job! I was hesitant about getting cosmetic work done because I thought it would look overdone or like a horses smile. He was very conservative (which is what I wanted) and made my smile even more beautiful. He is highly recommended, and his staff is very friendly. read more
