I went to Dr Bortniker for a chronic cough. Before I could finish telling him my past history, he said I know what this is. He took me in another room and scoped my throat. Told me I had a nerve sensory condition put me on medicine and for four years all he kept wanting to do was give me more medicine. He would get very defensive with me if I questioned him. After wanting a second opinion since my cough was not getting better he had the nerve to call me up and yell at me. I have since gone to another doctor who has diagnosed me correctly however, my condition has gotten a lot worse then it should have because of the miss diagnosis from him. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO HIM. read more

I recently got septal deviation surgery from him and he just did surgery for money and did not fix my issue. He did not take any X-rays before the surgery and I asked him 2 times and he said its a straight forward surgery and no xrays are not needed . I went to him to ask as why my issue was not fixed with the surgery and he says, He can do another surgery and the reason why it was not fixed is he says because insurance wouldnt cover first time for something that would cost me $1000. A good dr would discuss this and ask if Patient can pay that. No one wants to go through a surgery again instead get it fixed properly one time. It was a simple surgery not done properly. I wouldnt recommend him to anyone. read more

I first saw Dr Bortniker in around 2005 for a deviated septum. He fixed and it's been great since. I now see him every few years for wax removal. I retired from pharma and have worked with many ENT physicians and I find the doctor informative and very pleasant but most important good at what he does. read more

Horrible experience. The elevator in the office is from 1920, super scary for my blind, 81 year old mother. And, the Doctor was so bad - dirty procedures (he wiped the wax from my mom's ear on his sleeve/the tool he was using to look in her ear) and he nicked her ear. His equipment was as old as the elevator. Go somewhere else. read more

Would leave ZERO stars if I could. This guy is awful. First saw him back in 1996 for tonsils. ( I was already in my 30's) I was shocked when I saw his antiquated office. I felt as though I stepped back in time 100 years and knew I was not using him. My primary dr recommended him again some years later. His office had moved, I decided, based on my drs recommendation, to use him for sinus surgery. First off, multiple visits with him, he never knew my name, although my chart was in his hand, he only referred to me as "dear". Day of surgery at the surgical center....who operated on me? Was it really him? No idea as I never saw him. He didn't see me beforehand, I only saw nurses, they said he was running late but he'd be here soon and after surgery, I again never saw him as they said he left immediately afterward. How unprofessional! Operating on me......and I never saw him!! Was he there? Who knows. Post op visits with him, still referred to me as "dear" and never bothered to read my chart in his hand and read my name. I asked him why I didn't see him before or after the surgery. He didn't even answer. Several weeks after surgery I received a large bill which I called about as it said the surgery was done in the hospital when it wasn't. The billing dept woman asked if I was sure. Are you kidding me??!! Yes, I'm very sure. She insisted I must be wrong. I suggested she ask the dr himself, but.... since I never saw him before or after my surgery, he wouldn't know either as he may not have even been there! A few weeks later she called back asking me what my bill was. They're asking me what my bill was? What kind of an office is this??!! As an added bonus, my sinuses are worse than pre surgery and the deviated septum he claims to have repaired, is more deviated than before. This guy is a quack, he also I'm sure is on the spectrum, no social skills at all. And.... my daughter was recently there seeing the other dr there for an ear problem. He couldn't diagnose anything. Of course the next ENT she went to, diagnosed her immediately as he tested her for something whereas Bortniker's guy didn't test anything but her hearing. Clown show, stay away. read more

Dr. Bortnicker is warm and friendly as well as very knowledgeable. I went to him with persistent headaches and jaw pain and he totally understood what I was explaining and recommended a medication that has been working pretty well. He also recommended that I see Dr. Druce, the allergist located in the same office to make sure there was nothing else contributing to my headaches. Dr. Druce was very nice and made the testing easy and painless! The office staff is also warm and friendly and there is minimal or no wait time at all. I highly recommend Dr. Bortnicker and Dr. Druce! read more

DO NOT go to this man. My uncle was sent to him in 2009 for what we found out was stage 4 oral cancer. My uncle had a mass in his neck. He was horrid. As time went on with my uncle, he needed a trach to be able to breathe as the tumor had gotten so large it cut off his ability to swallow and breath normally. This man actually came in to my uncle's room at the hospital with the oncologist and said "good news, we can take the trach out." OMG it would have killed him! He would have choked to death! By the time he was able to see another ENT we found out that the tumor could have been removed and his life probably could have been saved. Instead the tumor ruptured and he suffered another 10 days in hospice before he died. He was only in his 50s. There is a piece of our family missing that can never be replaced. This doctor is a monster and is lucky we didn't sue him and ask for his medical license to be removed. read more

Unlike ENT Allergy & Assoc, ENT Care will return your calls promptly with answers to all your questions (even if you leave a message with the answering service which I did at 8am one morning & received a call back at 9:06am... 6 minutes after the office opened!), not keep you waiting for over an hour for your appointment every time (never, actually!) and you'll be in & out of their office usually within a half hour of showing up! read more

While Dr Bortniker seemed knowledgeable, his demeanor was unprofessional and both my appointments with him felt rushed. He talks a lot to the point that he didn't let me speak much and I had to keep talking over him in order to get him to listen, then after he's done talking he'd be done with the appointment. Furthermore, my symptoms could derive from several root causes but he scoffed at the idea to send me to a neurologist and said I would "get laughed at." So I didn't like that response because his main focus was my tinnitus when I also came in with dizzy spells, chronic headaches and nausea. An MRI or other tests from the neurologist or other specialties would at least rule out the bad cases and then we can focus on treatment. Don't recommend. read more

I was sent there by dvr for a hearing screening. He came into the room said hi go see audiologist. They do the hearing test dvr sent me for. Get put back in a room where the dr comes in and says yup you have nerve damage and a hearing problem that runs in my family. Ok 1st I've been to a ent dr for the last year and was told I don't have problem, 2nd how the hell we he even know by looking only at the audiologist report? He never even looked in my ears! 3rd, I went to ask a question about my nose and he abruptly cut me off and said " I've fulfilled my contract with dvr, if you want to make a regular appointment I'll be happy to see you as a patient." How did you fulfill you obligations if you never even examined me? And all I wanted to know was if there was an over the counter nasal spray with moisturizer in it. But I had to make an appointment to find that out! He was abrupt and fresh because I wasn't paying him dvr was. He's not interested in helping people just the money they bring. All the articles he has hanging on his walls are from like 10 years ago as well. read more

My experience with Dr. David Bortniker was something similar to the movie Hostel. He performed a metal cauterization with NO numbing crèmes, injection, or spray. He held my head back, and stuck a glowing, hot metal rod (had to be over 500 degrees) up my nose, and proceeded to hold it to a blood vessel that had burst, causing a chronic nose bleed. When I jerked my head back because the pain was unbearable, he yelled at me, telling me I had to hold still. After having him repeat the process, I told him to stop, and I refused to let him torture me any longer. He had an attitude, and I promptly left. I would NEVER recommend anyone going to him! Since my bad experience, I have heard of at least 3 other people having equally bad experiences with him personally. Please, if you need to see an ENT, go elsewhere! read more

I want to make it clear that this review is more about the administration of Dr Bortniker's office, not Dr. Bortniker, who I feel is fine and would recommend him, if you need his care. The office on the other hand, owns your time - - and wastes it. I arrived on time for my appointment and sat for 50 minutes past it, without a word of recognition. My time is worth just as much money as the Doctor's (trust me). After completing the usual paperwork, I disclosed that I had insurance, providing policy name and number. I point this out, as on my second visit for the fitting of an aide, I arrived promptly (taking a valuable half day off of work..) to make that appointment. I was greeted timely by the technician. She proceeded to explain the benefits of the aide and during conversation, she simply asked if I had medical coverage for the cost. When I said I did, she stopped her presentation, literally stopped short, and said, "If you have medical benefits we must send you to another office of ours. Here is the business card of the person you may call to make an appointment." I interrupted her direction to question, "If I'm here TODAY, using my valuable time, and you have ALL the items in front of you to proceed with the procedure, why is it that you are stopping and having me go to another office? Can't you simply proceed and YOU communicate with YOUR other office with respect to BILLING? (Raise your hand if you agree with me...because you won't believe what you are going to read, with respect to my treatment...) She replied that she(and this emphasizes how this office wastes YOUR time....) "did not want to do the fitting, as that office may want to do it differently..." (oh really...even though same practice??) and then "THEY can process the insurance as THAT office (10 minutes away) has the staff to do billing and we don't." Before you wonder, my benefits are not Medicaid, I'm young and could certainly pay the large cash if I had to (or should I say, as they would want me to) yet I felt treated like I was homeless by this office at that point, because I had insurance. Shame on me?? Here is the bottom line, the technician had all the items prepped to perform the fitting and complete the order as planned, using my half day off. Instead, she stopped her "presentation" immediately (which did feel like it a "sales presentation" on the benefits...ummm, I made the appointment, so I DECIDED to DO IT already), when she was told I had benefits. They had that information on record and booked me for this location. It makes you question everything about the design of this office administration. If you read this, know that Dr. Bortniker is fine at what he does. However, this office, which I would think he must have a say on how it runs or be able to influence, is focused on itself, not you. It's standard, not special.Their process wastes YOUR time and they don't care. You totally sense that in their actions. The technician acted like her direction was understandable, never remotely apologetic when I attempted to have them DO what they were PREPARED to do if I brought cold cash. If this was just an "oversight", refusing service because billing is managed by another office, well then if I ran the office, I would have done what was needed FOR THE PATIENT. I would have worked HARDER to do what is needed ADMINISTRATIVELY so it's transparent to the patient. I would just suggest when booking your appointment, question the amount of time you may spend waiting (past your appointment). Request to be called in advance, if they are an hour behind or cant provide services in the very office they directed you to for the appointment, prior to your arriving. Good luck to you. read more
