I have read through some of these other reviews and while I do agree that some of the front desk…read morestaff are a bit unresponsive, that is as far as my complaints go. I think that Chris Hightower, their ADAP coordinator, is awesome, and he has always responded to me in a timely manner. And the doctors and nurse practitioners that I have been treated by have been stellar! Dr Lozares-Lewis is AMAZING!! She always listens thoroughly, pays attention to ALL my issues, and radiates a sense of absolute empathy, as though if there is ANYTHING that she can do to help, she will do it. The wait time at the lab can be a bit long sometimes, depending on the day of the week, but I was there last week and they had developed a new(er) system of wait times when you sign up, and it seemed to work better - I was treated at the time that I signed in for. It is not a perfect place, but it is FAR better than some other places I have been to. I really like the facility and the people who work there a LOT.

I'm sure Dr. Hopkins is very competent…read more He's the cardiologist my own doctor uses for himself. He replaced the aortic valve of a good friend of mine, who has no complaints. I liked him when I first met him. So I was very surprised, when after wearing a monitor to check on the details of my irregular heartbeat, things changed. He was clearly bothered that I had asked an assistant to give me copies of the 30 pages of diagnostic data. He never asked me why. Well, it so happens that I have training as a nurse, and had, for my own interest, taken a semester long course in reading electrocardiogram results. So he said, you have atrial fibrilation. I want to tell you about the 10 medications we need to choose from. I said "excuse me, but my first goal is to understand the cause, not possible medications." He again acted upset and upbraided me for interrupting him. Then I said: "I'm beginning to feel angry and need to leave now." He acted very surprised, and said: "are you coming back". I said: I don't think so. Then I learned that he had subsequently (CYA!!!) called my primary care physician to complain that I had acted in anger toward him; total misrepresentation of our experience together! Fortunately, my doctor next referred to me to Dr. John Hunter, also in Santa Rosa. Dr. Hunter is great. Completely different approach to a patient. He's a busy man, but acts like he has all the time in the world to listen to questions and concerns and discuss matters. With him I feel like part of a team. I feel respected.

Dr . Hopkins and everyone on his staff are simply extraordinary in every conceivable professional…read moreway. He is the doctor that my many doctors refer and I trust no one else with my heart. I've had two previous heart attacks and related ongoing problems. The one thing that I appreciate the most about Dr Hopkins is that he speaks using non-medical terminology in explaining processes and treatments. When you leave his office, you know exactly what is going on and his support staff actually does support the patient. They bend over backwards for the patient so you know that you've an entire support group looking after you.
