I have known for years that I need a knee replacement. I have put it off for years because I was not pleased with the Dr. whom I had seen prior from another medical group not affiliated with Sutter. Beyond excellent! Was recommended to Dr. Haimson from my MD's office for a knee injury. The scheduling couldn't have been easier, same day I called, they squeezed me in. Wait time in waiting room was under 10 minutes. The office staff are excellent and very accommodating, give them all 5 Stars too! Dr. Haimson scheduled my meniscus surgery right away, but not before he gave me all the options, explained everything in detail, actually a couple of times because I had so many questions! He treated me with respect and compassion which is exactly what I needed. Before surgery, he came in and made sure I fully understood what he was going to do, explained everything, including what to expect after. His optimistic attitude completely put me at ease. He treats you like you actually matter to him, and that you're NOT just another patient. I felt extremely confident in his ability! Dr. Haimson is above awesome! Unfortunately both myself (broken radial head) and my husband (severe broken ankle) have had to visit an orthopedic surgeon. My husband had surgery to repair his broken ankle and Dr. Haimson was above and beyond our expectations. Not only did he make time right away for an appointment, performed needed surgery next day, and has been in close contact answering all of our questions, getting necessary meds as soon as needed, and even contacting us on weekends to check in. Headed into knee surgery to repair a dual torn meniscus I had questions and reservations. I really appreciated the time and effort Dr. Haimson spent answering all my questions. I felt I now better understood what the operation would entail and what the post op period would entail. The operation went better than expected and the usual post op physical therapy sessions were not required. Dr. Haimson suggested slowly easing back into my normal routine. I started seeing Dr. Haimson in early February with a completely torn ACL and both meniscus torn all In my right knee. I was apprehensive after having seen another orthopedic surgeon prior for this injury and having a bad experience and not getting the help I needed. My first appointment with Dr. Haimson I knew I was at the right place. He listens and answers your questions and then some. You don't feel rushed or like he is trying to get through your appointment quickly to get onto the next person. Dr. Haimson is extremely knowledgeable, competent and is just a great doctor who really cares. Last month Dr Haimson reconstructed my ACL using my patellar tendon and trimmed one of my meniscus as the other one had healed itself by then. Dr Haimson doesn't stop there. His followup care is just as attentive and you just know he is there for you. He is on top of it, answers emails quickly and went above and beyond with helping me get a medication that my insurance was trying to deny me. I started seeing Dr. Haimson on May 6th after breaking my shoulder. From my very first visit with him I had the feeling that Dr. Haimson was not only a very qualified doctor but also an extremely compassionate.doctor. He reviewed my X-rays with me and my husband, explained my options and prepared us for what we should expect in coming weeks in regards to treatment and recovery. I have seen him 5 times in six weeks and he has been consistent in the time he takes to explain my X-rays, improvement, what to expect in the coming weeks and answering my questions. He has answered my concerns in a positive yet realistic manner. He also has a wonderful MA, Herb York. He is pleasant, personable and generally concerned for your care. He stays on top of the schedule and always apologizes if he thinks I've had to wait. Generally, I've been fortunate because it seems he has got me into my appointment before my actual appointment time. I also want to comment on the radiology techs. I have had five sets of X-rays and have felt that the techs have been consistently gentle, kind and efficient. They always introduce themselves when they take me to X-ray and once in, they introduce me to the other techs as well. One tech stands out above all, Yvette. She has been there with me at every visit. She always has a smile that is reassuring and she remembers me. Awesome doctor! I went to him for a problem with one of my knees; I had been limping for months and an MRI showed a torn meniscus. He scheduled arthroscopic surgery for me the following week. The surgery was so easy. It was minimally invasive and I was in and out of the hospital in a couple of hours. Turned out I also had torn cartilage and arthritis, and he "cleaned up" all 3 of my issues. I had no side effects from the anesthesia - seemed pretty mild. He told me I could walk on the knee right away, and would not need either crutches or physical therapy. He prescribed pain medication and said I probably wouldn't need it, and I didn't. 6 days after surgery I felt so good I got back on the elliptical machine (despite his orders) and it was no problem. All of this must be due to his skill as a surgeon. He's been great with the follow up care as well. Terrific bedside manner and I never wait more than 5 minutes when I go to his office.
