The past 15 years of my life have been difficult; I have been suffering with chronic bloating,…read moremigraines, eczema and constipation. All of this profoundly affected my quality of life on a daily basis. I was hospitalized during this time because of diverticulitis (which was caused by the constipation). During my FOUR day hospital stay, 2 different surgeons came in to tell me that they would need to remove parts of my colon if the infection didn't respond to the IV antibiotics. During this stay, my prominent and well respected GI Doctor, also came to check on me. In talking, she mentioned that she sees a large number of postmenopausal woman, in her practice that are suffering from the same symptoms and chronic constipation. When I asked her what she thought the connection was between the hormonal changes and GI issues? She simply stated that she "does not know" and did not offer any other solutions besides to increase my Fiber and water intake, which I was already doing. This was a turning point for me in realizing that the Traditional medical system is far more comfortable talking about doing something that is as drastic as surgery, rather than understand and treat the underlying cause of symptoms. It was not until I discovered Dr. Laurie Goldman that I learned there IS a way to understand and treat the underlying cause. She immediately relieved me of the chronic constipation and began attacking the underlying issues, which improved my daily life significantly. Through her expertise, supplements and working with her team I am discovering a new way of managing my health. I feel empowered going forward that my health is in my hands and not being dictated to me. The things that I have learned during her program have opened my eyes to a new way of life, new respect for my body, and I am never going back! She is extremely intelligent, thorough and easy to work with. I saw some of the negative reviews on here and I can't understand how they had such a different experience than I have had, along with many others that have been helped by her. I highly recommend Dr. Goldman and her team to anyone that is looking to take back their health!!!

I wish I never went her. She is so weird and should be treated herself…read more She would suggest tests to do and then slough them off like they weren't even important. What a big waste of money and time.

My experience having been treated here was relieving at first as I really needed serious attention…read moreand help, but slowly became unprofessional. This is not the location to choose if you are looking for long-term healing. The advice and insight I've been given felt like a bandaid compared to a lot of the complex and deeper issues I was struggling with. I didn't feel care or empathy at all from Katarina. The office started ghosting me, and have not gotten any response from her. Coming out of my sessions I felt unimportant, I felt like my issues and struggles didn't matter. This place didn't feel like a lighthouse. Matters got worse when I was asking for a note, or signing papers for work. The attitude towards me became cold. If it was out of their capabilities, I wish they tried referring me to a different location, helping me reach out to the actual help I needed. I felt so lost and stressed especially in the state I was in already. I felt threatened to have a session or not. Please, take the time to listen, be patient, understanding, responsive, and act with care as all these patients are going through tough times. Edit* After writing this review, I experienced an unsavory set of actions in order for me to take down this review, thus slowing my healing process. I have no doubt they have helped individuals before, but the unsavory actions indicate large red flags for this business. I advise caution. After every session, Katarina would just walk away like time was up that's it. I just felt like a stranger that she had to talk to for one hour and then that's it. Being a social worker, I felt it lacked the empathy and warmth. I've never felt as if she tried to understand me. I switched to my old psychologist and after just one session with him I felt hopeful. I expressed my concerns and he showed me empathy and a willingness to work things through.

Extremely disappointing and a waste of money if you present an issue of complexity. Be aware this…read moreis the kindergarten of therapy. You can get better information, advice and direction from YouTube or podcasts. There are several highly trained and experienced therapists that you access for your specific concern. Unless you lack any self awareness, and even then, either these therapists are oblivious or simply don't have a level of skill or any follow through necessary. If you don't return, no one follows up. May as well just use a free, more highly specific resource. I was advised to take action that is opposite of that for dealing with someone with the issues presented and would've further antagonized an already dangerous situation. Presented with the caveat they really don't know. I am not paying to get advice from someone who doesn't know! I can get bad advice for free, on my own time and not have to drive! Maybe try online therapy that isn't as expensive and time consuming and offers more alternatives for your specific issue. Extremely disappointing. Do not recommend.

Controversial review? Perhaps. With mental health problems still holding a stigma, I admit that…read moreI've suffered from depression and anxiety for many years. As such, a long time ago I chose to put my feelings aside and seek help. Through random chance, I chose North Shore Wellness Center. Because of the way some people view this, I did not seek guidance but rather searched for which doctors were covered by my insurance plan, checked a few medical website to learn about the doctors and chose one of the psychiatrists here. As the person facing challenges, you don't always recognize the signs. It is only when others tell you something is wrong, which can be embarrassing and insulting, do you know you should seek someone out. Over the years, the doctors I have seen at Northshore Wellness have been of tremendous help. Yes, Psychiatrists primarily dispense and manage medication. Northshore Wellness also offers counseling services with Psychologists and Social Workers. I have had an off and on again relationship with a therapist, too, who has helped me get through some tough times. In the middle of a tough time, I was transferred by my company out of the area. I found help in my new city - actually I tried several Psychiatrists and Psychologists but none were able to help. Things degraded. I moved back to Chicagoland and went back do see the doctors here. Without their services and support, I'm not sure where I would be today. The practice has about a dozen or so doctors and therapists. I believe they have two locations. I go to their Northbrook clinic. As I sit in the waiting room, people are clearly nervous, worried that someone will recognize them - the stigma associated with mental health sucks. They have a wide variety of therapists with differing specialties - parents bring their young children, adolescents show up for help and many adults. If you are worried and need help, they are in a business park off the beaten path where you walk down a narrow walkway between buildings to get to the door. So, the chance of being seen by prying eyes is very minimal. Personally, I hate that people don't understand that mental illness is typically something people don't recognize or have any direct control over. The reality is, with help, you can learn coping strategies. With medication, any chemical cause can be alleviated or minimized. The first step and the hardest part is recognizing and understanding you need help. Once you seek help and you meet the doctors, you learn they are compassionate, understanding, available, and well worth your time. If you suspect you may have a problem, or more importantly, others suggest you should talk to someone, seek their advice. Northshore Wellness is the first place I would recommend to others.
