David M. Slosberg provides some of the worst tax preparation services I have ever experienced, and I would never use his office again. They incorrectly filed my W-4 form, which resulted in me owing the California State Tax Board $1,200--even though I did not work in California that year. When I was told his office needed to re-file the form to correct their mistake, I immediately reached out by phone, email, and text. Despite contacting them repeatedly for three months, I have received no response. Because of their negligence, I now owe even more due to late fees. This office not only mishandles critical tax documents but also abandons clients when problems arise. If you value accurate tax filing and reliable customer service, avoid David M. Slosberg. His office's incompetence and lack of accountability are unacceptable, and I will be reporting this business to the IRS for fraud and misconduct. read more

I called a year ago to schedule a time to do my taxes for 2023 and was only given the option to leave a message. Their voice recording basically said they were not answering phone calls because a lot of people weren't being respectful when they got through to someone. We had a phone appointment scheduled for months, I even received a call to remind me about the appointment. I sent all my information as requested, I sit and wait for the appointment, appointment time comes, and no call from David. I call to find out what is going on, no answer, I leave a message - no call back. I email to ask what is going on - no one responds. I call back again, leave another message - again, no call back. I email again - no one replies to that email either. I worry and wonder, "did he die?", "is he ok?", "did everyone in his office die?", "was there some sort of mass murder on Linden that I did not hear about?". I call a third time, leave another message - no one calls back. Third email goes out - no one responds to my email. I scour the local news sites looking for a report of a mass murder, a deadly fire, anything to explain why no one would respond to my calls or emails - nothing in the news. Could he simply have rude or crappy staff that doesn't respond to calls or emails? Fourth call, I leave a message, still no one has called back. Could he have that crappy a staff that they don't respond? I'm starting to think that is the case. He is not the cheapest in the world and he is always totally booked up so there does not seem to be a walk up service, I book the day that he starts making appointments. I've used David for both business and personal taxes for 9 years. David has always been good at what he does; not his office staff. They've always been anything but helpful. And as the years have gone by and he's become busier the service has deteriorated to the point that the service he provides no longer out ways dealing with the imbeciles he has in the front office. You pay top dollar for his services and then are told he can't speak with you if you call, finding out the status of your taxes is an impossibility, and they are prone to blame you for any errors made on there side. I know several people who use him and everybody receives the same service - it's standard operating procedure. He's gotten too big and forgotten about the customer; it's a pity. Bottom line: there are equally as good accountants that provide much better service and for less money. If I could give this guy zero stars it would be that! He was recommended to us, and I regretfully tried him out, it was the LAST time we allowed him to do our taxes. We are STILL dealing with his mistake from our 2017 in which he never filled out proper paperwork. We were audited and IRS came back saying we owed them over 20k. Our income is simple and straightforward, we don't own multiple houses, are not business owners and anything complicated. David charges a premium for his service and he is a one CPA who is very popular so it is challenging to get an appointment. But he is totally worth it. He knows tax code like the back of his hand and has helped me work through the tax implications of many real estate transactions successfully. I had used several other tax preparers before and they were not nearly as helpful or knowledgable as David. He knew how to ask all the right questions to get me the most money back as possible. Very interesting dude. Smart guy. Doesn't spend a lot of time but knows how to work the IRS to get you the best refund possible. He knows what he is doing. He writes everything up with a pencil and has data entry people read his horrible writing. With that, comes errors. I keep coming back year after year. Dave is seriously a life saver to me and my husband. We were able to complete 3 years of back taxes with him in less than an hour, we received a huge refund, even after penalties etc. were paid. my family has utilized david's services for over 10 yrs but this last tax issue is enough for me to take my business elsewhere. when i called to schedule an appt i was informed that it would be after the filing deadline due to david's schedule but that an extension would be filed on my behalf. i informed the receptionist that my filing status had changed to ensure that there were no issues and proceeded to schedule the appt. the day of the appt things went according to plan except for a FEW ISSUES! 1) no extension had ever been filed but david assured me that his office would take care of this 2) i ended up owing QUITE a bit to the federal although the previous yr david consulted with me (FOR A FEE) to educate me on what needed to be done to ensure this wasnt the outcome 3) for a simple tax return/filing he charged $595. Amt owed: $5K + to federal; $4K refund for state ?!?! i left his office frustrated and told david that i needed to reduce the amt owed to the fed's. several weeks later i get a call from david directly to let me know he had great news, etc and that the taxes were ready for pick up. i arrive later that day and the numbers were not GREAT, in fact i ended up owing more than when i left his office. of course, he was not available to speak with at the time of pick up so i left a msg requesting he call. waiting as long a i could before paying the IRS w/o incurring more penalties. after numerous calls and no call back i wrote a check to the IRS. about a month later IRS acknowledges payment but states that i have a failure to file and failure to pay penalty. again, called david's office, left numerous messages and requested that he phone me back. its been over 2 months, too many calls to count and STILL NO PHONE CALL BACK! i appreciate the service i recv'd from david in the past but now realize it's time to take my business elsewhere. read more
