We had some access issues that, for myself, they fixed; that was not fixed for my wife and we had to bug them several times in the last week before our scheduled tax prep meeting. They then reached out to me, saying that they can no longer work with us and that they'll delete all the files I uploaded to their vault. When I asked them why, they did not respond.

This is a very bad experience, so I will be fact based here…read more Tax Squad did 4 tax returns (two personal returns and two trusts). A mistake was made by Tax Squad. On top of the additional significant tax that needed to be paid (my responsibility), there was also $742.87 in penalties and $169.08 in interest, totaling $911.95 (which was Tax Squad's responsibility because of their mistake. NEVER DID THEY OFFER TO REFUND ME THE $911.95 FOR THEIR MISTAKE!! And if you are wondering, No, I am not looking for money in writing this and I did not ask them to pay it. As a professional tax preparer, they should have voluntarily paid that for their mistake without me having to ask. Instead, they simply instructed me to just pay the balance. NEVER DID THEY OFFER. They chose to just throw this financial obligation onto me, so this is making you aware of this practice. This mistake was caused due to a tax software issue which they could not resolve. Certainly there are things outside of our control, but it got to a point where I was doubting when I would get my return. I went down there at 10:30 in the morning in March (the height of tax season), and the only one in the office was the office admin. Finally the owners showed up at about 10:45. I realize we work in a modern day of remote work and outside responsibilities, but when you are a business owner, you need to be front, center and available to your customers at that hour. The returns did get filed but the communication and the failure of Tax Squad to not take responsibility for the penalties and interest of their mistake leaves me no choice but to leave this review. I have been a client of Tax Squad for close to 10 years but now that the business has been sold to Jess and Sim, it is a different experience. I certainly hope the service improves for the next person.
