He prescribed her the works, metformin, insulin and EpiPens, monitors that don't work on her kind of skin etc. As a diabetic myself, I knew that none of this medicine and paraphernalia is not necessary for an A1C that is barely pre-diabetic. What once felt like a teammate on my side helping me reach my healthcare goals has now become just another form of control over my life keeping me "in my place" and disallowing me from getting what I need to live my best life. Gatekeeping behavior from office staff who shut me down and are rude and abrupt when dealing with me. They put things in my chart that rightly have no place and then when questioned about it my request are outright ignored. They misinterpret my requests and then send me a cold sharp email outlining why they will not assist me with my request even though they openly admit in the email to have misinterpreted my request and are just trying to make my life difficult. Be careful who you trust to take care of you and your family because once they start putting stuff into your medical records its there for forever and there is no correction to their mistakes that rooted in their misinterpretation of the information you provide them. They will then blame you for not having provided true and correct information so I would advise everyone to take your request to this office in writing and only in writing and to always retain a written copy for your own records so they can not do to you what they are doing to me.

Dr. Petersen was…read moreon the list so I chose him without doing extensive research because I needed my ongoing prescriptions and have recently had an issue with my cubital tunnel. I also needed a yearly exam and to establish a doctor patient relationship. The staff was friendly enough but the doctor didn't do a full exam, didn't even examine my hand, and decided it "sounded" like carpal tunnel syndrome from 5 feet away. I told him it was the wrong fingers for that and I could benefit from a cortisone shot and he told me I had to wear a wrist brace for 30 days first and then he would refer me to an orthopedist. I told him that since I was very small it was next to impossible to find one in my size, especially for the left hand. He said "well you'll just have to find one." What? Anyway he did give me my prescriptions but, today, I talked to his office and told them this was definitely not carpal tunnel but the ulnar nerve. They called back and said I was being referred to a neurologist for the diagnosis of "peripheral neuropathy". What happened to the orthopedist? Now I worked for doctors for years and have had medical/nursing training as well as anatomy classes. This is a classic case of cubital tunnel syndrome and I do not have peripheral neuropathy. The real question is who wants to have to diagnose themselves when they have a doctor? I don't. I want a doctor that knows what they are doing and how to properly diagnose my medical issues. Heck, they don't even have to have a perfect bedside manner, just be professional and thorough. The point I'm getting at is that there is a complete lack of patient attentiveness or "listening". He didn't even look at my fingers, hand or arm to see what the issue might be. In fact, he barely looked at me at all, just kept looking down at the chart. I didn't receive a full medical exam either. He had absolutely no interest in me as a patient or my current medical issues. I told him I probably needed to have a routine colonoscopy (because it had been about 10 years) and he approached my statement as if it was unnecessary asking me if I had colon cancer in my family history. I don't think I am supposed to recommend my own preventive health care and be met with a lackadaisical attitude from a physician. This should be his job, being proactive with his patients. It seems like this doctor is completely burned out. The office staff didn't even know that they could choose the specialist to refer me to as long as said specialist was in my network. I tried to tell them the GI doctor I wanted to see but they said that they "think" the insurance company has to choose the doctor. This is absolutely not the case. As long as the doctor is in network they can give a specific referral to said doctor. They, a network provider and primary care manager's office, had to call my insurance company to ask. His medical assistant was very nice. I'm not sure if she was the same girl who I talked to on the phone but, if not, the girl on the phone was also very kind and sweet thus 2 stars. This entire 5 day experience/situation was entirely too sketchy to entrust my health and well being to this particular provider so I nipped the problem in the bud and changed my Primary Care manager this morning. One visit plus 2 phone calls coupled with the trouble I'm experiencing with this doctor from the get go has already been enough for me. I rarely go to the doctor, only when it's completely necessary, but when I do I want one I can entrust my overall health and well being to.

The office is small and I felt welcome and received undivided attention. The front desk is friendly, helpful and patient. The doctor has good bedside manner, documents well and provides documentation and referrals. After the appointment I was waiting outside on the bench for uber. It was the end of the day. When the front desk lady walked out to leave, she asked if I needed a ride home and made sure someone was coming to pick me up. That's the type of caring that shows they go above and beyond. I originally scheduled an appointment with Dr. Vega, but the office transferred my care to Dr. Hadden and then scheduled a sleep study and return the following week to review the results. I have a CPAP machine and my understanding is that the office is able to remotely adjust the settings when medically appropriate despite my ongoing problems the settings have not been corrected since the middle of June. I have called the office approximately six times trying to get this resolved. It is now August and I am still dealing with the same problem. Last night my CPAP reported approximately 17 events per hour and I'm exhausted and frustrated that I've been unable to get meaningful help. One of the biggest problems is trying to communicate with this office. The calls frequently go unanswered and I have spent excessive amounts of time on hold. This does not appear to be a practical way to leave a message for the doctor or clinical staff and I have been unable to find an email address where I can message explaining the problem. For a pulmonary and sleep medicine practice treating patients who depend on CPAP therapy I believe patient should have a reliable way to reach someone when their treatment is not working properly. I've given this office multiple opportunities to address the issue but after approximately two months and repeated phone calls, my CPAP problem remains unresolved. I am very Disappointed with a lack of follow-through and difficulty communicating with this office.
