These people do what ever they can to cheat the consumers. Never upfront about the condition of the items being sold. This is a big scam and please stay away from this people. Scammers! read more

I would strongly recommend that you personally preview the items you intend to purchase. In the TERMS OF USE Rapid-Sell states, "Our best efforts are made to represent all items accurately in descriptions and photographs; however, all items are ultimately sold on an 'as is, where is' basis, with all faults." Their 'Best efforts' to describe a set of sockets I purchased was "NEW". My best efforts determined they were clearly not new. The case showed regular usage inside and out. The sockets showed regular usage with surface scratches and finger prints on the chrome as well as grime and rust on the inside of many socket heads. Because they were a special '75th anniversary' edition, I could date them. They were over 20 years old! Two other items I purchased were listed as new as well but once again upon receipt the cases showed considerable wear and the contents showed rust as well as usage in the form of grease smudges and finger prints. I called the office and was offered a refund of my purchase price if I could return the items to the Guelph office in one or two days. I live two hours away and was unable to make the trip until the following week, (I was also reluctant to spend $40+ for fuel and use 4 hours of my time). It was then suggested I return the goods to their office at my expense using Canada Post. Not an acceptable solution for me as Canada post would be quite expensive. So now I own the items and I have no way of knowing if I overpaid because calling something new on an online auction may have resulted in higher competing bids, i.e. I was expecting to get an item in mint condition and was willing to pay more than for the same item in used condition. Competing bidders may have felt the same way. Note: The attached pictures are ones I took at home and not those online. read more

I would never use this service again. Took over 50% of the selling price in commissions and service fees. Bragged about how much more he gets for the items he sells but that was not at all the case. Have an item bought though his auction and sold it for six times more through another online auction site. Seller beware!!!!! read more

Used this auction place in the multi auction, first and definately last time. I have a whole household to sell but thought I would try first just bringing a truck load to them so its not like they had to go out of their way at any time, all my things were clean and working so no extra time that way either. Sold $300 worth of things and received a cheque for $45, their cut was about 85%. Beware of this place, sell yourself or give to charity. read more

This place is a complete rip off, you get told of upload fees ($2.50) up front then they blind side you with Labour, advertising and HST on top of there expense charge (Explain that). $187 is sales I received $20. Thanks I could of sold one thing on Kijiji and made my $20. This place is making almost pure profit of all your valuables, and then then charge a 10% buyers premium on top of that to the buyers. Its complete BS. 30% fine whatever i want to get rid of my stuff and all at once, but to charge me $101 for expenses then $65 for the commission , and your 10% of the buyers is a joke. I wish I read this before i went there. Here is my invoice Total sales $187.50 Total Expenses $101.78 Total Commission $65.66 Paid to the Consignor $20.60 read more

Be very wary of this guy who is out to make money for himself and his company. First off he charges $100-150 "service call" to come out and look at your items and decide if he wants to sell them. Then he asks for $1000 deposit to record and photograph your items for him to sell! Seriously? He thinks we should pay him to make money for selling our items?? This is on top of the 35% commission that he charges for himself, PLUS $22/hour for each person per hour that works on your auction PLUS advertising charges PLUS mileage for his staff to come to your house to sell your things that he is making money off. And the hours add up really quickly at $22/hour. Oh and they will offer to take things to the dump or donate for you, but you can bet you are paying for every little thing they do. Oh and the commission is not a flat percent. If your item sells for over $1000 he tells you the commission DROPS, but really, you are still paying 35% on the first $100, the rate only goes down for the small bit that is over $1000 not the full amount. And if you decide you want to take anything out of the sale, you had to bid on it to buy it back and he charges you the commission on your own stuff! It is outrageous... I wouldn't be surprised if he is secretly bidding against you to push up the price you have to pay. This guy acts like he is doing you a favour and helping you out, while he is making money hand over fist on your things. You may end up not getting anything or very little for your things after he adds on all the expenses. You'd be better off paying a junk dealer to take your stuff away or donating it all. Absolutely outrageous, making money off seniors and recently widowed who are overwhelmed with the estate. Disgraceful. read more

I dealt with David as a buyer. Unfortunately I misinterpreted something in the agreement which caused David and his staff a lot of inconvenience. He resolved it with such thoroughness and follow through on his part, with the sole objective clearly to make the customer happy. As it was a larger transaction I also was acquainted with the estate owner who was also quite pleased with David and his staff. Very customer service focused read more

I was very happy with the work that was done in my home to prepare for the on line auction and the personnel from Rapid Sell Guelph were lovely people and worked very hard.My husband passed away and while i attempted to organize his tools etc. I know there was a lot of work involved to get things ready to photograph and sell. I had no problem paying for this. What I would like to suggest is that I do not think the process is explained clearly in terms of cost. I met with David Moore who is a nice person as well and he mentioned $2.50 photo cost per item and advertising and a commission percentage. I of course was nodding my head and not really asking the questions I should have. He had me sign a contract and said he would email me a copy which I never got until after the auction had taken place. I do not believe this was deliberate. In the end the surprise was how much I ended up paying his employees to do this work. As I said earlier, this was justified but if I had been aware of how much it was costing me I would have been more pro active in assisting them and not assuming they were working for a flat fee but at a cost of $20/hour each. Over the course of 2 days this amounted to a lot. In the end I paid roughly 75% of the proceeds to David Moore and Associates. As I said before this was my lack of asking questions and reading the contract more carefully. It was a great disappointment to me and my suggestion would be that in future Mr. Moore go carefully over every aspect of the contract and the cost that will be involved. I understand that this process does cost money and the payoff is getting everything out the door but I could have saved myself money and I wish David had asked me if I would like the opportunity to be more involved in order to save money and indeed what i could do to make the process more economical. I am glad that the auction went so well but it is heartbreaking to me that my husband;s possessions ended up providing me with so little return. So the usual advice applies, ask questions and get help with understanding the contract if it is not explained fully to you read more

This company is a total RIP off. I read the contract before I signed and made a statement to David Moore that I thought the charges were a little excessive. He said you can help defray the costs by helping to catalogue the items and to be available for the pick up. First of all, the 2 ladies that showed up the first day refused my help. They said they needed to organized themselves first and figure out where they would start. Keep in mind, my husband and I organized everything prior to them coming. We had all furniture, pictures, outdoor stuff all grouped in categories. I constantly asked them what I could do to help and was rebuffed each time. I offered to write the descriptions of the items considering I know all about them but they said they had a system that they work on. Needless to say, they only managed to catalogue approximately 25% on the 1st day. They were supposed to come back the next day to continue. David called that evening and said they wouldn't be able to come until the following week because he needed to be there to catalogue the tools. I suggested that the ladies come and my husband and I will help out. I'm sure he knows more about his tools than David Moore does. Anyway, we were back and forth with David making every excuse as to why he needed to be there and that 1 of the ladies actually wasn't going to be available for the next day anyway. Funny how they were available for the next day when they left my house that night, but now she isn't available. I came right out and told him he told us we could save money by helping out yet when we have asked to help, they refused our offers. They only tell you that so you think you won't have to pay a lot of labour hours. Very deceptive business practices. So now, not only do we have the 2 ladies for one day, we now have the 2 ladies and David for another day. So now we have to pay his labour as well. I can only imagine the costs other people have had to pay that didn't have their items organized. Do you think 18 pictures of a dresser are necessary. This is why the labour costs are so high. It takes them forever to photograph everything. So now, for the costs. $22 per hour for labour per person, plus they charge for that person time to travel to and from your house. Then they also charge you 1 way of travel per trip at $ .40 a km. Then there's the upload fee of $2.50 per item. Plus, they then take a percentage of what that item sold for. This percentage ranges from 15 - 35%. If it sells for under $100 They take 35% so be prepared that most items you will be paying at least 35% on. An example is this, if you have an item that only sold for $2.50, well, you have to pay $2.50 for the upload fee and also 35%. Now, you owe them $.86 for that item. Pretty messed isn't it. Now, they also charge you for advertising. Not sure about this aspect because not once did I see an advertisement at all. Maybe, we should've charged them to put their sign on our property. So now, the auction is over and people are coming to pick up their items. For the most part, this went well, but my family did all the work with their girl standing there chatting up the customers. Not once did she retrieve an item to bring to the buyers. Also, she said there were some items that she was asked to bring back to their warehouse and the buyers will pick up from there. This made me very suspicious. I suspect that some of these items were purchased by rapid sell for them to re-sell in their multi consignor auctions. Another way for them to make money off of you and to make more money reselling it. Also, we did have a few items that people didn't pick up. First of all, she asked if we wanted her to take them. We said no. Secondly, she proceeded to call the people to see if they were coming or if they forgot about them. She spent an additional hour on the phone calling these people, which means it cost us another hour of labour. Well, we were shocked when we received our cheque and the paperwork. Our auction generated almost $9,300.00 and all we received was approximately $4,000.00. Not a bad haul for the auction house is it. Don't forget, they also charge the buyer an additional 10% on the goods they buy. Also, if you don't pick your items up, they will charge you an additional $25 to dispose of the item regardless if it was them or the seller that disposed of it. Remember I had mention some items did not get picked up, well, those people will be paying that fee and it doesn't come back to us. We just donated the items to our local charity store and we are sorry we didn't just donate the whole lot instead of doing the auction. read more

Beware the wolf in sheep's clothing!! I recently had to put my ailing parents into a nursing home and called David Moore to sell the contents of my parents home. He came by, wasn't at all interested in anything but the jewelry box and jewelry itself. Without a contract (a major regret of mine), he packed it all up right there and then and left, only letting me know that it would be put into the Fall jewelry auction. He came into my home using words like 'dignity' and 'integrity' and this man doesn't know the definition of these words. There were 21 lots in my auction and the total amount in sales was $595. After expenses of $390.83 plus of course David's commission of $194.29 I was left with a whopping $9.88!! That's 1.6%!!!!! I'm completely disgusted by this person who takes advantage of people going through some of the most difficult times in their life and I'm ashamed to even tell my parents what their lifetime collection of jewelry amounted to. Take this for it is, do your research and don't be duped like I was. This man is a CON ARTIST!!!! read more

I have given this seller a 1 only because there is not an option for 0 stars. Be VERY weary of his auctions as the descriptions suit the seller and not the buyer. There are many online sellers who stand behind their descriptions and if misleading will listen and figure out a way to help rectify the misleading description. Rapid sell is not one of those sellers. Only money matters to this site. Since when is plastic considered glass? David Moore is slight of hand and does not care about his buyers and retreats like a coward to only try and put marks against people who are simply reaching out for an explanation. Luckily, when mr. Moore tried to black ball me, he was out of luck as this unknown buyer had more sway than his bad reputation. And btw mr Moore, I am a frequent online auction buyer and have NEVER encountered spinelessness as Rapid Sell. Sincerely. read more

I don't understand these negative reviews. I've been dealing with David Moore for many years and have found him to be nothing but fair, honest and trustworthy. I think that people are not reading the fine print, which clearly sets out the fees, rules and conditions for dealing with Rapid Sell. One reviewer said that David Moore is not a licensed auctioneer. This is not true. I've been to several events where David was the live auctioneer - and a very good one at that. People need to do their research before leaving knee-jerk negative reviews. Rapid Sell is an established firm with integrity and reliability. read more

Expect to pay 50% or more in fees and expenses from the sale to sell this way. Maybe a good way to buy, but not to sell.
