He bought…read moreit used from a family friend and fellow church member who did their very best to make sure the car was going to treat him well for years to come. They had had all the work on the car done at Village Mobile in Waunakee while they owned it. Before deciding to sell it they took it in to them again to get a full and thorough inspection. It was inspected and a list of all the issues found was created. This list was passed on to my son before he purchased it. In total, they noted $1,800 of things to be fixed. We proceeded to fix the majority of those things for a total of $550. That $1,800 is clearly a major rip off of the customer. When fixing the items they noted, we discovered there was a crack and two large rust holes in the rear subframe. Totally obvious to even a non car person with out taking anything apart. I called Village Mobile to ask them about this oversight to such a major issue with the vehicle. They said they did not feel they were responsible in any way. I assured them, I did not expect them to take care of the issue free of charge. I just asked that they consider seeing what could be done to help my son get the car fixed so it was safe to drive at a reasonable price. I asked that they have compassion and see if they could do what ever they could to keep the cost down for him given they had missed something that was such a safety issue. They called today with the quote to get it repaired and I was absolutely flabbergasted! With a used subframe, mind you, they quoted us $2,000 to fix it!!! As I said earlier, the original quote, after a supposedly thorough inspection was $1,800, to fix all of the cars issues. Now they are telling us it will be $2,000 to fix the issue they completely missed. I don't know about you, but I would not trust anyone in that business to look at, quote, or do any work on my vehicle. In my opinion, this is gross negligence and complete incompetence. Not to mention price gouging, no compassion, or self conscious. For reference, here is a picture of what they did not see upon inspection. This is unacceptable on so many levels. I hope everyone reading this will think twice about doing business with Village Mobile in Waunakee and you will spread the word far and wide that this is not a company you can trust with your business.

**** ZERO stars **** Avoid Waunakee Super-Lube! Last week,…read moreI went in there for an oil change. They started the oil change and then told me they couldn't complete it because my mechanic had blocked the oil filter and they needed a special tool that they didn't have. Turns out that they rotated a radiator hose clamp into the oil filter housing. Yesterday, I took my car into my regular mechanic for the oil change. Over the course of the past week, the direct contact with the oil filter housing and car vibrations damaged the hose and antifreeze was leaking. Thankfully, my mechanic caught it. I went back to Waunakee Super-Lube and asked how this could happen. The manager smirked and laughed, and said they didn't do anything - it was my mechanic's fault. Bulls*%#!! Their incompetence and dishonesty has now cost me over $600. Steer clear of Waunakee Super-Lube!! In response to the owner's reply: The facts remain that I had a radiator hose leak, which resulted in total repair bill of $650. The other facts: 1) The last time I had any work done on my car was with the mechanic in March 2025, which was the last oil change. 2) I came into Waunakee Super-Lube for this latest oil change. 3) A week later, I took it into my mechanic for the oil change and he saw the radiator hose was against the oil filter housing, and was leaking anti-freeze. I was half down in fluid which he topped off. 4) I came back today to have it fixed - when I pulled off the highway to get to the shop, there was white steam coming out from under my hood. So if you didn't have this special tool, how did the radiator hose get pushed against the oil filter housing? A hook tool might have been used to do the work of this tool, which didn't work hence the claim of needing a special tool. If my mechanic caused this, it would have been months ago and I would have had problems long before this past week. I attached photos that I took last week. Have a real nice day too, and bless your heart.

Week later she stopped in to have two of the same for the front. Was told they were discontinued and sold her two entirely different more expensive tires. I told her to take it back next business day and get two of the same on the rear to match the front. Different attendant this time and he told her he could get two of the same mounted on the rear which she was previously told by another attendant were discontinued. She told him No thank you just make the two rear tires match the more expensive front ones. The attendant agreed and said he ordered them and would be about a week. Today she goes back in to have them mounted and they installed two of the less expensive ones in the front to match the ones in the rear. To top it off they charged another mounting fee for the two front tires installed today. How is that good business ? It was their mistake to begin with. My wife asked for the same tires all around and wound up with two different sets. Would you pay a total of 500 + bucks to have 2 sets of different tires installed on your vehicle ? I don't think so. How does all of this inconvenience fit in with the Southside Tire Mission Statement and the ABOUT this company posted on the website ? To top it off the installers left the tire sticker on the treads of one of the tires. I wanted to take the vehicle back to the store and express my extreme dissatisfaction with the follow up service provided but my wife is just totally disappointed with the whole situation. This type of service is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE no matter how you twist and turn it. I will NEVER recommend and or purchase another tire or service from this facility or any of its affiliates. Next time the spare in the trunk is coming out until a reputable tire replacement facility is located.

The attendant asked me a number of questions about when I had last checked various parts. I admitted that I had NO knowledge of cars, since I am a widow; my husband had taken care of the cars we had for over 49 years. Luckily, friendly, knowledgeable service workers gave my vehicle a thorough inspection and made several suggestions for future work. Some I chose immediately and plan to have more done whenever I am visiting Madison (because the coffee and friendly chats are equally excellent).

ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR - SCUMMY BUSINESS PRACTICES - AVOID!…read more We've been using Chet's for a couple of years now due to their proximity to where we live, however we will NEVER be returning our vehicles for service here after our experiences during the last few visits. Last Tuesday, my wife's car went into limp mode. We had it towed here just to get the diagnostic work done to see if it was something worth fixing. It had a failed coil pack a few months ago that she drove with to get it home. This caused premature failure of the first catalytic converter, which is exactly what the mechanic (Matt) found wrong with it. On Thursday, they called upon finding this out and asked if they wanted us to proceed with further diagnostics (to check if the second cat had failed as well) and repairs. They quoted us $1500 additional parts/labor for an upstream catalytic converter replacement. I told them yes to the diagnostics, but to call me before they proceeded with any further work, as I thought the price was ridiculous. I had a feeling that what I said wasn't received properly, so exactly 5 minutes later I called back and was explicitly clear that we ONLY wanted them to perform additional diagnostic labor to check if the downstream cat had failed. I know I spoke to the same person both times because the number they called from and I called back to is different from their office number. They said they would be sure to tell the mechanic not to proceed with the repairs. Assuming that this would be a 10 minute job (dropping a scope into the downstream cat), I went in Friday to check if we could coordinate payment for the diagnostic efforts and arrange a tow for the car. The front desk employee (Roman) tells me the total was $1700 ($200 diag, $1500 parts/labor for parts replacement). After I explained the situation, he went into the back, apologized for the miscommunication issue, and said they would get the parts removed ASAP and make us whole in terms of payment. I figured this was reasonable, mistakes happen, and they were owning up to it. Come Monday afternoon, we called to see if the vehicle was ready to go. I spoke with Jeff on the phone initially who put the mechanic Matt on the line. He explained that since the parts were installed and the car had been driven (50 feet to the parking lot), the catalytic converter wasn't returnable and we would be on the hook for the full parts/labor as quoted. I told him that wasn't happening, to take the parts off and give us our vehicle back as left. Making a customer pay for unauthorized repairs is EXPLICITLY ILLEGAL behavior, under Wisconsin consumer protection law. My wife went in Tuesday morning to check on the vehicle (1 week since drop off) and they told her it would be a couple more hours before they got the part off. I called them back Tuesday afternoon, and they are now trying to get us on the hook for just the parts and they would comp the labor. They were charging $700 for the part. The vehicle is 11 years old and worth $3,000 at most, we are just trying to get another year out of it and do not need pricey OEM parts. I told Matt this was unacceptable, told him the state law that protects consumers in this exact condition, and let him know we would be taking them to small claims court if they would not honor our request. He blew me off and tried denying responsibility. We called back one more time, asking to speak to only the owner, at which point we were finally told that they would only be charging us for the diagnostic labor as authorized. When we went to pick up the vehicle Wednesday morning, and they only charged us for the diagnostic work as agreed. However, I took a glance under the hood and noticed the original catalytic converter was missing. I had to go back into the shop and ask for the part back, which is worth $50-100+ of scrap value. Come on. They have also charged us for snapping wheel studs that they overtightened in the first place. Tread carefully, these guys (or at least Jeff and Matt) will nickel and dime you for everything they can get away with.

Theyve done an oil change and a once over on my car-not as invasive as I feel was needed. Ive broken down twice needing a tow since. Thats not what I came here to talk about though. They certainly had not caused those issues, but it would have been helpull to know. They cost me time from work and money besides. My issue is with how the owner not only answered the phone but continued to speak to me when I was telling him my new dilemma (Im in bankruptcy and have struggled keeping a running vehicle. Ive learned a lot and can do much of the work myself). I have learned enough to know what I don't want to do myself. Mainly because it is now winter in freezing outside and Im without a garage. He never let me finish a sentence and was frustrated when he couldnt get the story straight. Every question he asked was biting and condescending, where if he let me finish and listened he would have had the answers. When he finally got a better picture of the issue he responded with 'I have a hard time believing that.' He went from 'thats not possible' to 'if we had done that' to 'this is what we do when that happens'. It turned into one of the situations where he said too much because he thought I didn't understand what he was saying. Looking at Google and the description-its an absolute lie. All of the part stores in the area know me. By name. And Ive taught the young bucks behind the counter a thing or two. I am smart enough to ask about the things that I don't know and I know how to ask nicely. He'd begrudgingly told me to make it in by 7:15 am to fit me in. Didnt offer the work for free (removing the leaking oil drain plug that they didnt use a crush washer with and is not coming out), didnt go into what could may be done to fix it and what they can offer for any price. I know how to fix it, his customer services was the worst Ive experienced in a long time.
