However, over the past 5-10 years as he has scaled his business, the level of service has declined (first, a few minor mishaps here and there or things overlooked on my tax returns as I dealt with new, my guess, seasonal workers who never really took the time to know me or my finances beyond quick conversations). I saw less and less of him and more of other random employees handling my taxes. (It's fine, I guess. I'm not a millionaire, so perhaps he has bigger clients to tent to?!) His personal touch and friendly face was always a source of comfort during what could be an otherwise stressful time: tax season. The major issue I have -which has led to my final decision to take my business elsewhere- is with the front office staff which was at one time run by nice, friendly women but have now been replaced by Michael's wife "Ledy". She is rude and lacks basic customer service. Most of all, given that a large portion of Mr. Rose's clients are African American, she could use a course on "cultural competency" and learning how to speak to black folks versus talking down to them or like she is above them! I would conjecture that the frequent turnover in office staff is due to her poor management "style" and lack of respect. It's too bad that she has gotten in the way of what was once a wonderful professional relationship. Thanks to her attitude combined with the other personnel changes in the business, I will most definitely not be returning!

As a result of not getting through to anyone, I decided to fill out the contact form with the hopes of scheduling a consultation. After not hearing from anyone, I decided to continue my CPA search. A week later, I received an email stating he was sorry and they would have someone look into the phone situation. I decided to give him a call and still give the company a chance. When he answered the phone, he appear very rushed but said we could schedule a consultation for Friday at 10AM via phone (he would call). Friday at 10AM came and I did not receive any calls. To say the least, I was very disappointed to have to start my search all over again. I had high hopes for the company based on the reviews. Hopefully the communication improves. As far as their actual services, I can't provide feedback as I didn't get that far.

I believe he wants to do right by his customers, but... when it all comes down to it he really only wants customers who are willing to pay premium pricing for average (at best) services. THE BAD - For me, his kindness ended when I simply asked him why he charges almost twice as much ($500 for my personal taxes compared to someone else who charged me $300 last year) as other CPA's when he is doing the same calculations for your taxes. After spending an hour and a half discussing my tax history with Albert, I finally asked about pricing. This is when he told me about his high prices. So I let him know that for the sake of time I would be willing to pay him to do my taxes this year, but at that price I would likely not continue to use him year after year. To my surprise, he got defensive at this point and let me know that I should probably find someone else to do my taxes because it "wouldn't be worth his time" to do my taxes for one year. What good business person turns down easy money when you have already done half the work? THE SILVER LINING - Although this guy completely wasted my time, I'm happy he showed his true colors. I have plans to purchase a franchise or start a business in the near future in addition to potentially investing in real estate. I would hate to work with someone who feels they are "too good" to work with me on my simple taxes when I know my taxes will become more complex in time.
