This company is a DISASTER and so is the top management, Fred Loucks. When we first contacted the…read morecompany, we were so excited about the professionalism of Matt Helpingstine who handled their sales. Matt said he was leaving the company just prior to our build date, but not to worry because our home design was all complete and the building had begun. Once we were exposed to Fred, we immediately felt like we were dealing with a con artist because he called a zoom meeting and pulled out a blank sheet of paper and wanted to help us design a home. After selling our home to start construction, he told us that he couldn't build our home for a profit so we needed to design a new home. He tried to make US feel bad because HE didn't want to honor the contract! Mind you, WE HAD ALREADY SOLD OUR HOME TO COMPLY WITH THE CONTRACT!!! We threatened to stop the bank draws if they didn't agree to keep building the home so he flew to California to meet with us to ask us to continue the bank draws and said he would complete the home. (That could have been done via phone call, but he chose to purchase a last-minute, 4-hour flight and showed up with his Starbucks coffee to tell us he didn't have the money to complete our home!) One month after moving into our home, we found severe black mold on a wall and requested that the building foreman, Corey Lavender take a look at it. They found a plumbing leak that required the removal of the kitchen stove, cabinets, and walls and a wall in one of the bedrooms. Mold abatement came in on May 23, 2023 and the kitchen has still not been restored because of their vacations, contractors that don't show up on time and poor planning. I'll have to sue them to be reimbursed for having to hire another company come in to restore my kitchen and for our hotel stay due to the mold. There are so many other design flaws, flooring that is coming up, mold still on the carpet, baseboards pulling away from the walls, etc. I've attached a snippet from Fred's email to me saying that the construction defects are happening because we are "bad people" who didn't allow him to break the contract!! Does this mean HE caused this destruction on purpose...and all because we asked him to honor the contract that was in place?! RUN FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

In the short, they were to build my home and the process started in Aug of 2020...by August of…read more2021 we were still working on the process and designs. In October of 2021, we finally finish all loose ends and went to pre-con to finalize everything and signed the contract and we were even ready to close on the loan. Then the next thing we know we are told that a hold has been placed on our build until the owner could speak to us. Our Sales person Matt, just dropped out of sight. We meet with Fred, the owner and he tells us that we need to pay, I believe it was 130,000.00 more over what we signed the contract for. He would have to work on the numbers and let us know. When we received the information ..he stated that we needed to pay 30,000.00 more, We were like no...we are in a contract and your sign on 249 states you will never change your prices...are you kidding us! He gave us 3 options and the best options was to cancel our contract with them. Since we paid a 10,000.00 earnest money....they gave us our plans and permits, etc. In the process...we lost our great interest rate, my realtor commission, 5000.00 for using their preferred lender and the money that we used to close on the land due to their process taking too long. I am very upset that D&S mistakes are contentiously coming up mainly because half way through the process the architect was no longer there and things that were updated on paper were not updated on the blueprints. All I can say is BEWARE and I would never refer a company who does not stand by their word. I read the bad reviews and ignored them. (somehow they have all been erased) Please be advised that we had to find a new builder in 12/21 and it has taken me this long to write this review. I wanted to make sure that when it was written that I was not writing it out of anger.
