This was my first time going anywhere for wedding dresses. I was acting as a friend (not a bridesmaid!) We had a bride trying on dresses (her first time trying on any dresses) and some (6) bridesmaids trying on dresses. We scheduled the appointments for both groups at least a week ahead of time, but still when we walked into the store a few of the women at the front had disgusted/annoyed looks on their faces, exchanging looks at each other and one of them even rolling her eyes in annoyance. Sure, the group was excited to be there and excited to celebrate with the bride, but none of our behavior garnered these looks from the staff. The bridesmaids were split off with another woman to pick some dresses in the wedding colors while the bride, another friend, and I went to look at the wedding gowns. The woman helping us look at gowns was wonderful. She was very attentive and offered many suggestions for accessories that would match dresses and listened closely to what the bride was looking for. She is the only reason I am giving two stars. The bridesmaids each tried on one or two dresses, while the bride tried on a handful of wedding gowns. She found a few that she was interested in and was able to get those into their system in case she decides to return for them. Despite being a bridal store, they seemed to have very few options for wedding gowns. We were the last groups of the night and we did extend past their closing time by about 15 minutes. This was, in part, to the assistant bringing additional dresses to try on that we had not originally picked out (which was great to see other options!) and in part because the ladies in our group had to change out of their dresses and were dragging their feet a bit (despite some of our attempts to speed things along). As we reached closing time, a few of the staff members were coming by and making comments to each other and again making annoyed faces to our group (not even trying to hide it!). I understand some annoyance when a group extends past close, I get that, it *is* annoying and I would be frustrated as well. However, we were never once reminded that we were coming to a close, we were never gently asked to stop, etc. Not once did any staff member bring up what time it was or give a little, "Unfortunately, our time is running out". It's easy to lose track of time when you're jumping in and out of dresses. The time isn't exactly the first thing on your mind, so it would have been helpful if someone had said something. I think it's safe to say that neither I or anyone in my group will be returning to this store. The staff really put a huge damper on what should have been a fun and celebratory time. read more

I am honestly so shocked by all the negative reviews. I absolutely love this shop! In the last 8 months alone I have gotten 2 bridesmaids dresses, alterations on 1, my wedding dress, and I start alterations on it next week at this location. The staff here has really helped me find the right colors and make sure I have everything for my big day coming up in March! I was able to purchase a couple swatches in the colors that I'm working with (Apple, Mystic, and Mercury) so I can make sure that my decorations match. My future sister-in-law will be on my fiance's side so we were able to get her dress in the Mystic gray that I'm using as one of my colors. I was able to get matching gray suits for the rest of the groomsmen at Men's Wearhouse(their brother shop) so she won't stand out! And since I got my wedding dress here all the ladies get $20 off their dress! I let my bridesmaids pick the style of their dress because I want it to be in their budget. Just as long as their dress is floor length and Apple red it was okay with me! The consultants were extremely helpful in pulling what we needed and being considerate of my bridesmaids that were self continence of their weight. All of their prices are very reasonable and they also have sales going on. If you know you'll need a dress I recommend signing up for their emails. I have already gotten so many updates on their sales. I was even able to get $50 off my own wedding dress. They were very prompt in letting me know when my dresses were in as well. Since they are also open later I can go in after work to pick them up. It's definitely been convenient for me. And their shoe collection is really good. I was able to get heels in their Apple Red color to match the color of my bridesmaids standing on my side. They didn't have my size in house but they were able to order them and they arrived just last week. They fit great just have to break them in! I couldn't be happier with the professionalism that I've received over the last 8 months. Even the shop manager remembers me and always stops to talk about how my wedding planning is coming along and if I was able to find what I needed that I mentioned on my last visit. I'm giving them a 2 because my gown is gorgeous and well made. Their alterations department is department is very unprofessional. went to pick up my gown after it was hemmed The hem I could not believe was so uneven so so cut Unprofessional it was so ragged I just I'm just so in disbelief.. So driving from Decatur I had to go back again on the 8th From Decatur to pick up my gown they still had to tweak it a little bit at the bottom. Is. Nobody cared that I drove twice to pick up my gown and they still had to tweak it at the bottom.. Would not recommend them for alterations please find someone else. Oh and nobody wanted to get the manager Randy even though she was there. They did not want to get the alterations manager Mary as well even though I saw her and called her over to let her know . And they gave me $15 back how kind sad they :( they should have refunded all of my alteration fund of $60 at least. I would like to add where my daughter bought her gown in Michigan place forgive me that I can't remember the name of the town but it's by Shelby town Is horrible horrible customer service the way they treated my daughter would not buy a gown there as well. My bridesmaids needed to pick dresses for my wedding and most of the girls in there were rude. Some had masks below their noses but were adamant that we had ours over our noses. They also asked one of my bridesmaids how many dresses she intended to try on because they each had to be dry cleaned after the try ons and was rude when she wanted to try more than 1 on whenever they were so nice to the people across the way getting them several dresses and having 3 people help their group. They also mixed up sizes and tried to convince one to go bigger because of her measurements (which were done too quickly) when the smaller dress fit perfectly on her. I'm glad I won't be getting my wedding dress here because I wouldn't want to put up with those attitudes anymore than I already have. read more

My DB experience was comical at best. I know you can't expect much from David's Bridal, and I didn't--honest! But it was still outside my realm of comprehension. Now--a little background. I used to work for a jewelry store, and we partnered with David's Bridal. When you partner with them, they will send you a list of customers every two weeks, complete with contact and wedding date information. If you say you don't want them to sell your information, they say they won't, but they do. They send that information two weeks *after* they send your info to the vendor. In that time, the vendor can send you all sorts of stuff. This is a fact. Knowing this, I made an appointment. I went in and a lady at the front desk sat me down to register. I figured I would have to fill out a sheet, but instead, she wrote down everything for me (which makes sense--how else would they get so many people's information?). She asked for my address and phone number, and I said that, because they sell information, I didn't want to give it to her. She pressed and pressed and I kept refusing. She got really pissed and wrote "Client refused," while grumbling, "I have to write *something* because otherwise they'll dock us." Well, um...not my problem. I was seated and told to wait for my consultant. A few minutes later, a bedraggled consultant came over to get me. She asked what type of dress I was looking for. I said, "Well, actually, I have a list of dresses from your website. Since there are, like, 10 of them, I don't have to try them all on, of course." She took me back to a changing room and asked what size bra I needed. I told her, and she brought one back--and left. Now....if you're dress shopping alone, this is a serious problem (unless you're unusually dexterous). The bras they give you are essentially hooked corsets, so it's very hard to do it alone. I had an especially hard time because, lo and behold, she gave me one size smaller than I needed. So, when she finally came back (5 minutes later), I had to send her away again (and once again, she did not stay to help put it on). So, at this point, we're over 10 minutes into "standing in the booth alone"-time. She comes back and has a big, sparkle-encrusted, ribbony, froufy cupcake dress that wasn't on the list and says, "I know this wasn't on your list, but I need to gauge your size." Um...well...can't we just gauge my size with a dress I actually WANT to try on? While I'm standing outside the booth, on display for all others to see, she bolts again. It's then that I realize why things are taking so long: She is the only consultant working 5 parties of people trying on dresses. Seriously. How's that for service? She leaves and comes back again with two dresses from my list. Each time we try one on, she's gone for 5 minutes, while I'm left to quietly contemplate in front of everyone. After I tried on two, she says, "So, are ya good? Do you need to try on any more??" .................Yes? I asked to try on one of the Oleg Cassini dresses on my list. She pulls out the list and says, "Which ones are those?" ........Don't you know?! You work here! So, I told her. She brought one back (that wasn't on my list) that was much too princess-y for me. At this point, I decided enough was enough. I left and will never look back. Save your time. Don't bother. read more

I would recommend this location to anybody looking for attentive and polite consultants. When I initially got my bridesmaid dress I was attended to by Summer, and she was very helpful and knowledgeable. She ordered my dress and it came in 2 weeks!!! I went back to pick it up and Randi helped me zip the dress and understand how to pack it in a suitcase (I am taking it to a wedding out of state). Both ladies were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly! There was 2-3 other groups in the store and I was still attended to in a timely manner. I knew better than to expect complimentary champagne and a montage with upbeat music, ending with my best friend finding the perfect dress. Even still you would think as one of the few bridal stores in town, David's Bridal would have experienced staff and quality customer service. Unfortunately, it seems the only job requirement is to be able to distinguish 'white' from 'ivory'. My best friend had an appointment to try on dresses last Saturday afternoon. We were running late (my fault) and they were nice enough to bump the appointment back a bit--one of the few nice things about the experience. We had a bit of a wait, but it gave us time to browse the dresses they had available. We were told not to pull any dresses, which is perfectly understandable, but we were not given any information on how to keep track of ones we liked. Even a golf pencil and a scrap of paper would have been helpful. Thank god for camera phones. We took pictures of the dresses and their tags to show the consultant. Anna was the young woman who helped us. Let me emphasize--YOUNG. Far be it for me to be an ageist, if you can do your job well I don't care if you are 18 or 80; however, her attitude and inexperience was on par with a gum-popping high schooler. Here are some highlights: [1] She did not know the inventory. Several different times my friend liked a dress (either one she had found on the DB website or there in person); when we asked for similar styles Anna claimed there wasn't anything else like it in the store... at all! These were varying styles, from A-line to mermaid, and she was claiming there just were no dresses. Unless DB only has ONE A-line dress, and ONE mermaid, it sounded like she was trying to cover for herself. [2] She was not attentive. We were her only party, yet she somehow managed to keep us waiting. Three separate times my friend was left waiting in the dressing room while Anna was nowhere to be found or didn't even notice my friend did not have a dress. [3] She was not professional. After claiming there were no similar styles for a particular dress, I went back to the racks to look for myself while she just stood at the end of the aisle making small talk. After I DID find several styles, I had to hunt her down to give her the tag numbers. I found her gossiping with another worker, and though she looked up and saw me, I had to wait for her to finish her story that ended with "So then she lifted up her skirt and told me it wasn't her underwear!" (cue gum popping) Of course, it is possible this is just one horrific consultant; the other employees seemed nice enough to say hello in passing. Even so, I cannot trust a store that gives such little training to someone who is handling something as important as picking a wedding dress. read more

Oh...where to begin! Let's start with how they didn't have any of my selections pulled. She said they weren't able to find any of my selections that I had made online. I thought that was the point, you know? You find what you like online to save time when you get there. Anyways, she had me, by myself, look through the dresses with my two bridesmaids to see what I liked. She never asked what I was looking for, never asked my size. Finally, after wandering around by ourselves, she came over and pulled out a few dresses. -I may interject here that I thought the salesperson seemed a little hungover- Now, I understand that the prices at David's Bridal are a lot less expensive than at a boutique...but you are definitely getting what you pay for. The dresses online look beautiful; in person not so much. I was so disappointed. Just absolutely disappointed. The dresses just looked so cheap. At one point, when I didn't like any of her selections and we were just standing there, I pulled out my phone so I could show her my online selections. She seriously just stood there, staring, not saying anything. Finally she said that the store didn't have any of those dresses except for one, which I had tried on. I mean, seriously, I 'liked' over 20 dresses! I do have to say that the saleslady was very helpful in getting me in and out of the dresses. BUT...the changing rooms are so tiny and cramped and the seating area for whoever you brought with you is directly in front of the door. Everytime she would open the door to get another dress my bridal party got an unexpected peep show. ugh. The icing on the cake for me was the saleslady bad mouthing other brides the entire time she was helping me. Needless to say, this was not exactly the experience I was expecting. read more

Based on the reviews here, I considered not coming to this DB location and going to the next closest one, which is about a 2 hour drive away. But then I thought, what the heck, that's a long drive, I may as well check this place out myself before ruling it out. And I am so glad I did because my recent experience was totally fine. The purpose of my trip was to try out a couple of bridesmaid dresses, take pictures, and get on with the rest of my day. I did not book an appointment. I handed an employee a written list of the two dresses I wanted to try and guessed my size, and it only took her a few minutes for her to find them for me. I was in and out of there quickly, and thought the employee was nice and efficient. So as long as you do your homework and come prepared with the dresses you want to try and what your size is, I think you should be fine. Considering that the employee who helped me was juggling between different customers, I imagine that it might be a slow and harrowing experience if you don't come prepared or if it's super busy there. If my experience changes when I go there again to actually purchase the dress, I'll be sure to update this review. Just don't be intimidated by the reviews here! read more

I'm only giving them one star out of 5 because I can't give them a zero without sharing how I feel. I'm sure other David's Bridals are fine and I have always appreciated their website and their attempt to accommodate to plus size brides without making them look like fat kids in poofy confections. HOWEVER. I will say this. They say that they prefer brides schedule appointments. There's no real point. The consultants stay huddled together like sheep so if one has to leave to deal with a customer, they all scatter and deal with everything else. This leaves you there among rows of dresses without a clue of where to even start. So when these ladies decided to help me and my friend (who is also getting married but not to me. remember this fact, it will come back later in this review), 3 or 4 women surrounded us apologizing profusely. I did make the mistake of saying I was only trying on dresses, not buying. I only said this because the shopping trip was technically spur of the moment and I didn't even know what I wanted. She only pulled two dresses for me after about 20 minutes of telling me what she thought I would look good in and ignored my requests to try on some others. She also kept pointing out dresses that were no where near my size. I suppose the only highlight was that she knew how to dress me. I am pretty peeved that my friend was offered shapewear (even if she didn't want it) and I wasn't. She sure did know when to tell me when to stick my arms up and when to duck. The first dress was ok. I'm sure it would have looked better with shapewear... other than that, it was wholly unremarkable as was the plain, satin halter dress she pulled after spending 5 minutes convincing me that a belt would make it amazing. I still love that the dress was of shiny material, even after I specifically said I didn't want a dress made of shiny material. Oh well. I suppose that's the bridal experience I was paying for. OH THAT'S RIGHT, I DIDN'T. As I was standing there, in my first dress, waiting for my friend to come out of the dressing room, all of the consultants automatically assumed that we were lesbians and they were SUPER awkward about it. Don't get me wrong, if I were to swing that way, she is definitely not a bad choice. But they kept asking. They asked her mom if I was her future daughter in law. They awkwardly asked if I wanted my friend to see me in my dress. I'm pro LBGT. So don't even throw a fit that I mentioned this. She could have easily read the form she insisted we fill out and she could have seen that our fiances' names were MALE. But reading must be difficult. OHHHH that's why she kept pulling size 14 dresses when I'm a size 20.... I left the store with a bad taste in my mouth. I was unsatisfied and I didn't feel like a bride. Perhaps it will be better when my mom has recovered from surgery and can join me at Michelle's Bridal in a few weeks. If you ever shop David's Bridal, just don't bother going in. Shop online. You get the same customer service and it's not as busy. read more

Be aware that David's will NOT protect your personal information or your privacy. Several months ago, I received an email purporting to confirm an order. Trouble is that I've never been to Champaign, IL, this store, or any other David's, let alone ordered anything. I replied letting them know they had the wrong email. Since then, I have received details of several other orders and appointments, as well as marketing emails from David's and from companies to which they have sold their email list. I have tried all the removal emails on their website several times, without success. Moral of the story: 1. David's won't make any effort to make sure they have the correct email for their customers. 2. David's won't correct their records even after they're told they have the wrong email. 3. David's might send details of your appointments and orders to the wrong person, even after they are told many times that they have the address. 4. David's won't take your email off their list even after you try several times and they promise to do so. 5. David's will sell your email to other companies, who will spam you. read more

We went for a homecoming dress. My daughter doesn't like over-the-top dresses. She likes the classically pretty ones. Yeshua helped us, and was wonderful. They were attentive, kind, and made my sweet girl feel a lot better about herself than any of the other stores we went to. I will be going back when I need a dress early next year. read more

Never did I think that the 4th dress I ever tried on would be "the one", and NEVER, EVER did I think it would come from David's Bridal of all places. But that is exactly what happened and my Oleg Cassini dress is PERFECT. It did seem like they were under-staffed because Leslie, who was helping me and another bride, was working her BUTT off yet still managing to stay on top of things and be really nice. I ordered my dress + under garments (at a great price), they came in, David's Bridal called me, I picked them up - no problems! And luckily, I was a straight size, so I didn't need fittings. David's Bridal in Champaign has the rudest employees. I was at Michelle's Bridal in Urbana and David's Bridal today (2 of my 4 kids have upcoming nuptials) and there is simply no comparison of the customer service and professionalism between the two stores. I took my daughter in to David's Bridal to try on shoes because I'd purchased a pair for her that really weren't comfortable when she wasn't with me. One of the staff came to the shoe area to tell us we had to exchange them for a pair of the same price. That's exactly what we tried to do. While we were trying on shoes three of the staff walked by together and glared at us. Back up at the checkout, Victoria, who claimed she was the manager, wouldn't let us exchange the shoes for a pair that were the exact same price, that we'd purchased ONLY 7 days ago, without an up-charge of $8 and some odd cents. What?!?!? I have no idea what she based that charge on. She also wouldn't refund the purchase price because the shoes we purchased on the 7th and returned on the 14th didn't meet the 7 day return criteria. The gal that actually waited on us in the shoe department was very friendly and helpful but I'll never step foot in David's Bridal in Champaign again because of Victoria . read more

I was very nervous entering the store having never tried on dresses like this before. I had my mother, bridesmaid, my daughter-also my MOH, with me. Tara was the young lady who would help me find the dress of my dreams! She was so helpful right down to supplying what I needed for the undergarments (something I was also extremely nervous about!) I have a skin condition that has left many scars on my back which almost immediately cuts my choices down to 25% of the dresses but with the aide of a beautiful jacket, I was able to try on dresses I never thought possible. I tried on 6 dresses, #5 was Tara's choice and once it was paired with the jacket and completed with a sash, it was PERFECT! I already had a dress for my 3/29 wedding but booked an appointment for 2/2/15 after trying on my original dress and realizing that I suddenly hated it. I didn't know what to do with such short notice so I booked my appointment online and went in the next day. The heavens sent me Randi. I told her what my current dress was like and let her know the issues I was having. She worked with me and really paid attention. She put me in a couple of different dresses and helped me narrow things down to one I really loved. She wasn't pushy with me at all. She offered all of the upsells but when I said no, thank you she didn't pressure me which I was really grateful for. I think she did a real great job reading what I wanted and helped open my eyes to other dresses I wasn't expecting to like, but ultimately did! My experience at this DB was good. Randi, our consultant, was super nice and helpful. She listened to what I wanted, got in the wedding happy bubble with me and my family, and found me my perfect wedding dress. She was everything she needed to be. My wedding is coming up super fast, and I was able to find something I could take home that day(a family member is doing my alterations). I also had one of my bridesmaids with me who needed to try on her dress, so she got taken care of too, no problem. Everyone was nice, they were running a bit behind that day, but one of the staff came to find me every so often to assure me that I had not been forgotten about. I'm writing to tell you about the experience I have had in the Champaign, IL store. In November, I walked into the store and approached and associate who was not busy. I told her that I needed to select a bridesmaid's dress for a wedding and that I would need help. She said "someone" would be happy to. I received no help. None. I pulled a few dresses, found my own fitting room, and tried them on. No one spoke to me. I left without ordering. A few weeks later I returned because I HAD to order. The color the bride has chosen was available at your store and I wanted to get the dress in time to have alterations done if needed. If I would have had the option, I would have purchased somewhere else after the first encounter. This week I got the email that the dress was in. I went in to try it on. I asked the associate that greeted me if I could please be helped by the associate that had ordered for me. That day had gone slightly better than the first. She did not even acknowledge my request. She pulled my dress actually said to me "Oh you want to try it on?". YES, I need to try it on. If I would need to reorder, it would need to be done today. She begrudgingly opened and dressing room and said "Carson" would "help me zip" if I needed. I got the dress on and stepped out to the mirror so I could see it and send a picture to the bride. I stood in front of the mirror for a few minutes to see if I would be spoken to. NOT ONE PERSON SPOKE TO ME while I was trying on. NOT ONE. I was totally ignored. It would have been really nice to have a second opinion from someone actually there. I mentioned something on the way out about no one even acknowledging me in the dressing room. She asked me if I wanted to try it on again for her. I was already changed and did not want to undress again so I declined. I realize that I am not the bride; but I am still a customer spending money in this store. The bride is angry that I was treated this way not once; but twice in this store. Good product, terrible service at this location. I needed a bridesmaid dress and knew exactly what I wanted, but it still took me over an hour to get assigned a consultant, try it on (in a different color), order the one I needed, and leave. Dress also ended up being more expensive than it should have when I got to the counter, but after an hour I was already annoyed, so I just paid it and left. The consultant guaranteed I'd have it within 3 mo which was an important fact because the wedding was only a few days after that. Needless to say, two months later all other bridesmaids had received their dresses, so I went back into David's Bridal and they said that the ship date wasn't for another month which meant I wouldn't have it in time. I talked to one of the girls at the desk (who was very very nice +1 star just for her) and a manager (who was cross, didn't apologize once, and acted like I was putting them off for ordering a dress and expecting it to be in by the time they told me it would). They sent in a rush request. Fortunately when all was said and done, the dress came in just before the wedding, but if possible, I will never go in to this location for service again. read more

My daughter was married in August. We went in November to have her get her wedding dress. We had an appointment and the staff were nice, though very slow as they seemed to have other customers there they had to deal with too. She got her dress, I paid for it in full around 563 dollars. My daughter went for final fitting in July and was told alterations would probably be between 30 and 100 dollars. Imagine my horror when my daughter called and said since she had lost some weight it would be around 283 dollars for the alterations PLUS another 150 to take the hem up. I was NOT pleased by this. Plus they said the dress would not be back till about August 3. I had them go ahead with the alterations but we did not do the hem. It really did not need anything. They should also really send instructions with working with the bustle. They explained it to her, but that is rather hard to remember. The bustle thread was very small and it was hard to get the button up. We never did get it perfect but we did get the train up off the floor after about 30 minutes of messing with it. I found out later that my cousin could have done the alterations for us for free as a gift. ARGH. read more

Well where to begin? Let me say this is my SECOND go around with this location. Last February I had a military ball to attend and needed a formal dress. The store manager helped me and it was pleasant. I am a weird size and had low self esteem while shopping because their sizes are SPARCE! She helped and it was fine. This year.. I decided to go back for this military ball and went in, had the dress and color picked out and just needed to try on a dress to know which size to order. That was painless. A week or so later I come back to pick up my dress, try on and have a small alteration done. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT mind you since I was a Saturday, I walk in and they're busy and the girl immediately brushes me off because I'm not a bride. She then says "let me go make sure your dress is here".. Well I fricken hope so! I paid for the darn thing and waited for it to get here. She comes back out with the dress and pushes me off on the store manager- whom I told I wanted to complain to and she snapped at me saying I couldn't complain about her because "she didn't do anything"- that's the point ma'am.. You did nothing! So I then get shoved in a room with no person to help me way in the back. I open the dress bag and the dress is ripped to hell! I then open the door and the assistant store manager is there.. I complain and she proceeds to call me "dear" and rub my back like I'm a crying teenager upset over a prom dress!! I paid for the dress and they ripped it and then she has to ask to see if they can fix it! Are you kidding me?! I then proceed to complain more and more.. Try the dress on and demand it's fixed. The 1-800 number I was given to complain is closed (how convenient). I will never ever EVER go back to this location ever again. I was stomped on and shoved to the side because I wasn't a bride or buying a wedding dress. Let me just say- a military ball is important! It's a huge deal! My boyfriend has deployed many times and is a high ranking officer and I just wanted to be treated nicely! I will be writing a complaint letter and calling corporate to complain. DO NOT go to this location. Your heart will be broken, your self esteem low and you will leave feeling defeated and not good enough because the 20 something's working on commission don't think that nom-bride customers are important. read more

I got married in October of last year. I loved the consultant I've had when I tried dresses on. Loved the dress I picked out. But the alterations manager was down right horrible. Not only did she not measure,she pinned the dress hem! When my mom and I went to pick the dress up, she left to do something else. My dress hem looked horrible. It was not straight at all. There was another gal from alterations there that I would have had alter the dress. She even said she wouldn't send her daughter down the aisle looking the way the dress did. They finally got manager back and she did what she finally was supposed to. And my dad and I picked it up,again, it took the manager an hour and a half to fix hem. I believe she was the same gal who messed my cousin's dress,who happened to be one of my bridesmaids. My family and I wouldn't recommend. read more

I was maid of honor for my best friend's experience and we had a delight working with Sam and trying on the different dresses. It was a fun experience with little hassle as far as trying on dresses and getting the order set. Overall, the experience was a delight and Sam was especially great! Going to David's Bridal was the only regret of my wedding. The alterations were so shoddy that the dress was literally falling apart two hours into the reception. I had straps attached to a strapless gown. One ripped off so I had to safety pin my dress together (wasted at least an hour of my reception searching for safety pins) The lace was falling off where they had taken the waist in. The bustle mechanism I spent $90 on broke and didn't work. I spent over $300 on alterations and looked embarrassing. Please stay away. read more

This David's Bridal lies! I am not even in the state of IL but my junior bridesmaid went there to get measured. She was told that David's Bridal does not measure or fit for dresses which is a total lie. The several David's Bridals I have been to in the state where I live indeed measure women for dresses. I was also told that could not order the dress any where other than that store and they did not have access to my account, when the adult that was with my Junior Bridesmaid said they actually had access to my account. The wedding isn't even in IL so I wanted to order the dress where the wedding was. I would NEVER recommend a bride to be to go to this David's Bridal. read more

Came on a Sunday at 11am without an appointment . They greeted me had me fill out some papers and I had me look around the store until someone was available to help me. Im sure I wouldn't have had to wait if I had called ahead. So I am pleased still. Had just wanted to try on styles and see what I liked. Vivian ended up helping me find my dress! I felt like everyone there cared and was involved in helping me. It was a great overall experience and I feel my dress is beautiful and reasonably priced. Highly recommended! read more

My advice to girls in Champaign: Go. Somewhere. Else. Go to Michele's or Lindsey Lane, or go to a different private or chain bridal shop in Bloomington, Indy, or Chicago, but do not waste your time or money at David's Bridal. This store is horrible. Not only is the individual store (and its employees) a joke, but they're subpar corporately as well. They pressure you into purchasing merchandise, and neglect to make clear that all sales are FINAL: meaning no exchanges whatsoever. If you are unsure about your purchase, do not buy it, because you will not get your money back. My experiences at David's have been generally unpleasant. Store associates are unable to give you the time, attention, and calming atmosphere you deserve as a bride-to-be. You deserve better. Take this bride's advice. read more

I dread dress shopping, but my husband's Army formal dinner and ball was ten days away. After reading the reviews on here I almost drove right by, but I needed a dress and really didn't care how the customer service was. I was immediately overwhelmed by the amount of dresses. I was greeted right away, asked what event I was shopping for and what kind of dresses I like. They made several suggestions of dresses they thought would work, and kept bringing me more! There were several other people in the store yet the women working there treated each and every one of us like we were the only customers there and called us each by name. I walked out an hour later with a great dress and a smile on my face. Thank you David's Bridal for taking the dread out of dress shopping! read more

Went to David's Bridal for a wedding dress and then later bridesmaid's dresses. For my wedding dress appointment, my consultant was already helping another bride. There was only myself and the other bride currently in the store (with 2 "guests" each helping us). There were 4-5 other employees in the store. But they put the other bride and I next to each other and than one consultant who mostly helped the other bride. So my party and I started pulling dresses for me. That at least got one other person to help (minimally). I tried on maybe 5 dresses and then I felt like they were done (minimally) helping me. Returned with bridesmaids and again, there were 2 other parties there as well and we were all crammed onto one side of the store. Constantly bumping into each other or standing side by side. One consultant was helping my party and the larger party in our section. By the time we left there was still not one other party on the other side of the store. We pulled all our own bridesmaid dresses. We did go with David's dresses and they made me feel like if I didn't order them ASAP, I'd be screwed. So I ordered. 3 days later they were $20 off. The dresses came in 4+ months before the wedding and had plenty of time to be altered. Sidenote, alterations are EXPENSIVE. Hindsight I should have taken them elsewhere. read more

Yeah, remember that seemingly without issue part from the previous story.....there was an issue. One of the bridesmaids had originally ordered a satin bottom and chiffon top. We thought we had corrected the error but when the dress came in....yep a satin bottom and chiffon top. This was only several days before the wedding and the bridesmaids were scrambling and driving all over northern IL to find a satin top in the same color and near the same size. It ended up working out okay...the maid had to wear a non altered strapless top (which made her feel uncomfortable all night long). If I had it to do all over again we would have gone with another store. read more

I bought my dress at a David's Bridal in Iowa and love it. I had a pleasant experience there and the person helping me was quite nice. BUT when my dress traveled to Illinois it got quite wrinkled and I needed to have it pressed. I called ahead to David's Bridal explaining that I had bought it at another store, then had it altered by someone else, and that all I needed was to have it pressed. They said to bring it in. Fine, right? Nope. When my parents were kind enough to try to drop it off (they don't live in Champaign, but are closer than me in Iowa) David's Bridal refused to touch it because it had been touched by someone else. I am ticked because 1) why the hell not? and 2) I called ahead of time to check on this! Another bridal store, Michelle's Bridal and Tuxedo, graciously helped us out and agreed to press it despite the fact that I didn't buy the dress there, they were busy, and they had no advance notice. read more

From start to finish, which has been 18 months, I have hated everything about the unfriendly, bitchy attitudes of every manager I have ever spoken with at DB in Champaign, IL. I believe they are only taught that the customer is NEVER right and that you are obligated to be a huge witch whenever possible. They lie about everything too! You call and get one answer and when you go in, they look at you like you are a dumba$$ and basically laugh and say, "why who told you that?" I'm so sick of dealing with these people I could vomit. My daughter bought everything from them also...including bridesmaids dresses, shoes, the works! She had her dress altered right after she bought it and then we brought it home for 16 months. My daughter asked them about pressing it one week before the wedding if she brought it in and of course they said it was free and no problem. Well, I took it in today and believe me it was problems!!!!!!! First she told me I needed her alterations receipt. WHY???? It wasn't being altered and I know they have all of her info in their computers!!!!!! Then she told me it would cost $40 to press it!!!!!!!!! I told her what we were told 16 months ago and she just became indignant with me...a total biotch...and would not back down whatsoever!! It was unbelievable!!!! After reading some of the reviews on here, I was definitely a little gun-shy when going into the store. I didn't really know what to expect. I was really just hoping my experience was better than some of the other reviews on here. I gave them a 4 star because I always believe there is room for improvement but I don't really have a lot, if any, negatives about my experience. I was assisted by Randi while I was there trying on/selecting my bridal gown. I did call and make an appointment in advance, which I believe definitely helped with ensuring they were staffed to assist me. Randi was honestly the sweetest, nicest, and probably the most efficient person I could have gotten to try on dresses. My appointment was booked for an hour but being the indecisive person that I am, it ended up taking an hour and 45 minutes to find the perfect dress. I tried on A LOT of dresses while I was there. Randi was counting and she stated 10 - the most she had ever had one bride-to- be try on. It took until the very last dress that I almost didn't even try on before I found the one I fell in love with. I told Randi what I was looking for and the style that I liked and she was able to find plenty of dresses that fit the description. The one negative I guess I have is that my appointment was only booked to be an hour long. While I knew that probably wouldn't be long enough for me to find the perfect dress, Randi stated that most of the ladies that try dresses on find them within the first 3-5 dresses so an hour would be about right. I just felt a little rushed and panicked when I realized my hour was about up and hadn't found my perfect dress yet. Even though my appointment was only supposed to be an hour long, Randi still ensured that I found the perfect wedding dress that made me feel beautiful. It was really my fault it took as long as it did because of my inability to make a decision. She was willing to work with me past the designated time of the appointment and I can't thank her enough for that. My experience with this store and their was great! Everyone was very friendly and willing to assist me in any way possible to ensure I was satisfied with my purchase and experience on the day I went there! read more

Rude, forgot to call me when my dress came in and then expected me to come in immediately to get my dress because they can't hold it longer than 14 days (even if I didn't get notified until TEN days later!) I live almost an hour away so not exactly easy to just run in! read more
